Story
Volunteer notes, 6/17/24:It is amazing what you can learn about a dog just by spending some extra time with them. On our third meeting, Rosco`s tough guy act started to crumble. He took treats very gently from me, sat on command, and even showed a little wariness around inanimate objects like furniture and toys. (He didn`t know what toys were; it was sad.) I think he might be secretly shy! One thing is for sure, now that he`s decided I`m an OK person, he is all about snuggling and begging for snacks. Is he used to being treated like a possession rather than a family member? He might need a little help learning how to be a pet!Volunteer notes, 6/3/24:Roscoe is a ruggedly handsome outdoorsman with a luxuriously thick coat and an independent streak. He did well on the leash and in the play yard, where he inspected the perimeter thoroughly and took care of all business in a timely manner. He was unconcerned with any attempts of dogs or humans to distract him from his goal. He was less eager to return to the kennel and needed to be wrangled. First impression is that this gorgeous boy is an alpha and would prefer an active home.

Story
Volunteer notes, 6/17/24:Scrappy is built for speed! He loved zooming around the play yard today. He also knows `sit` really well and will perform for treats. Despite a slightly serious demeanor, Scrappy behaved respectfully and showed off his nice, people-friendly manners. His only quirk was that he did not want to be leashed and returned to the kennel, so some light wrangling ensued. All was forgiven once we slid some treats into his temporary den!

QUEEN is an adorable and fun-loving puppy of about 23 weeks of age. Pictures have been taken over the last 7 weeks and she has put on much needed weight during that time. Queen loves to play and has a large personality. Tug-of-war with other pups her own size is a favorite. She has been well-socialized and is used to baths and nail trims. Queen is likely a Rottweiler and German Shepherd mix but has not been DNA tested so no guarantees. She has had age appropriate vaccinations, regular de-worming and weighs around 40 pounds. Queen is fostered near Angier, North Carolina. *** ADOPTION DETAILS: At this time, due to the size of our rescue, adoptions are limited to NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA and +/-6 hours from Chapel Hill, NC.
