Nipper is a very loving dog that will demand your attention. He’s not only beautiful but he’s a protecter if that’s what you’re looking for. Once he chooses you he will love you always. Has been around cats but he likes to chase them around. He doesn’t bark in home or while walking on the street. He knows commands and follows them loves treats and walks but willl be couch potato with you. He’s looking for his forever home.

Meet Comrad 🐾 Comrad is a sweet, loving guy who knows how to enjoy the best of both worlds—he’s just as happy cuddling up beside you as he is getting outside for some playtime! This affectionate boy loves being around his people and would be thrilled to find a home where he can be part of the family. Comrad came to us from a shelter in Louisiana after being found as a stray. While his past may be a mystery, one thing is clear: he’s ready to leave that chapter behind and start a new one filled with love, comfort, and plenty of attention. Comrad is heartworm positive, but his adopters won’t have to face that journey alone. We will handle the financial cost of his heartworm treatment as long as he receives his treatment and follow-up care through our veterinarian. 10/6/26: Meet Barkley! 🐾 Barkley is a happy, people-loving dog with plenty of energy and a strong desire to interact with his handler. He is extremely friendly and social with people and has a great foundation to build upon through continued training. Barkley knows his basic commands, including sit, down, and stay, and he responds very reliably. He is able to hold these commands well, and his willingness to work for rewards makes him highly motivated during training. He is also beginning to work on eye contact and handler focus, which will help him learn to stay engaged even when there are distractions around him. When it comes to exercise, Barkley is definitely an active guy! He needs daily vigorous physical activity, such as fetch or chasing a ball, to help burn off his energy in a healthy way. Providing appropriate chew toys will also help keep his mind occupied when he's relaxing. One of Barkley's biggest challenges is his reaction to other dogs. He has shown significant social discomfort and reactivity toward other dogs both at Char-Wills and prior to entering the program. Because of this, Barkley must be the only dog in his adoptive home and will need careful management to avoid unwanted interactions with other dogs. With continued training, he can work on learning to remain calm around dogs from a safe distance, but this will require patience and consistency. Barkley is looking for an active, experienced owner who is willing to provide clear rules, structure, boundaries, and continued training. His recall and place command still need additional work, and his new family will need to continue building those skills step by step. For the right person, Barkley has a lot to offer. He's friendly, energetic, playful, eager to engage with his handler, and already has a solid obedience foundation. I'm headed to Char-Wills' prison training program for the month, where I'll be working on basic obedience, socialization, and learning how to be the best companion I can be. 10/6/26: 🐾 Meet Nami! ❤️ Nami is a sweet, approximately 2-year-old girl whose life changed through no fault of her own. Her family was forced to surrender her when their landlord no longer allowed large dogs in their apartment. Since arriving at Char-Wills, Nami has had some time to adjust, build confidence, and work on her manners—and she has officially graduated from her foster training! 🎓🐾 Nami has lived with a young child and is a smart girl who even responds to Spanish commands. She can still be a little nervous or aloof when meeting new people, but once she becomes comfortable, her sweet personality begins to shine. Nami is also a girl who likes to test her boundaries. She can be a little bit of a bully and is smart enough to look for any opening she can find. If she senses inconsistency or a little weakness in her handler, she'll happily wiggle right through that crack and try to take the reins! Nothing about her is extreme, but Nami needs an owner who is confident, firm, and willing to stick to their expectations. She will do best with someone who establishes clear rules and boundaries from the beginning and consistently follows through. Nami is now ready to find the forever home she's been waiting for! 🏡❤️ She's looking for a family who will continue building her confidence while also providing the structure and guidance she needs to be successful. She will be unavailable for adoption for at least 2–3 weeks while she works on building confidence and learning new skills. Once she graduates from her foster training, she'll be ready to find the forever family she's been waiting for! 🏡❤️ Nami needs a patient family willing to give her time and space to build trust. She may not rush into your arms right away, but once she feels safe, her sweet personality begins to shine. Meet Dutchess 👑💕 Dutchess is a sweet young girl who is ready to find a family of her very own! At a young age, Dutchess has already mastered many of the skills that make life with a new family a little easier. She is housetrained, knows how to navigate stairs, and enjoys going for car rides — so whether you're heading out for an adventure or simply settling in at home, Dutchess is ready to be by your side. 🚗🐾 Dutchess has also lived with dogs and children of all ages, including young children ages 0–8 and older kids 9 and up.
