6/23/26: 🎓 Off to School! Hi there! I'm headed to Char-Wills' prison training program for the month, where I'll be working on basic obedience, socialization, and learning how to be the best companion I can be. Because I'll be away at school, I won't be available for adoption until I return on July 21st. If you'd like to meet me, the first available appointment day will be Wednesday, July 22nd. Check back when I return to see all the new things I've learned—I can't wait to show off my skills! --- 6/11/26: Meet Rosie! Rosie is a gentle soul with a heart as big as her beautiful smile. At approximately 7 years old and 73 pounds, this retired puppy mill momma is finally getting the chance to enjoy the life she deserves. Despite her past, Rosie has remained incredibly sweet, loving, and kind. She has a calm, gentle nature that makes her a joy to be around, and she is especially happy spending time with her people. Rosie also does well with male dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion to share her new life with. Now that her puppy-raising days are behind her, Rosie is ready to be spoiled and cherished as a beloved family member. She is looking for a patient, loving home where she can continue to blossom and enjoy all the comforts she's missed out on over the years. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a gentle spirit and endless love to give, Rosie may be the perfect addition to your family. --- 6/3/26: Hello, everyone! I would like to say that I have just arrived at Char-Wills on 6/2/26. I am now a retired mama from Lancaster County looking for a nice family. There will be more information to come in the next week or so as I get settled in!

If you're looking for a sweet dog with a big heart and plenty of love to give, Cheryl may be the perfect addition to your home. --- 6/18/26: Hello, everyone! Story
Meet Fetch! Yes… his name is Fetch, and yes… he absolutely lives up to it. Originally a stray from Louisiana, Fetch is estimated to be about 2.5 years old and is now ready to trade his wandering days for a forever home filled with play, structure, and love. This handsome boy is already showing us what a fun, engaging companion he can be. Fetch knows his basic commands and is described as both fun and attentive. He enjoys working with his people, picking things up quickly, and staying tuned in to what’s happening around him. But his favorite thing in the world? A good game of fetch. If there’s a ball in motion, Fetch is fully committed to the cause. He’s the kind of dog who brings energy and joy into a room, always ready to participate and always happy to be included. With continued guidance and routine, he’s going to thrive in a home that appreciates both his playful side and his eagerness to bond. Fetch is currently heartworm positive and has already started the first stage of his treatment. The good news is that he’s on the right path, and our rescue will continue to cover the cost of his heartworm treatment as long as he remains under the care of our veterinarian. Despite everything he’s been through, Fetch is focused on what comes next: toys, people, and the promise of a home where every day includes a little fun. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick with a love for play and a heart ready to heal right alongside yours, Fetch might just be your perfect match.

Story
6/24/26: My name is Venus; I’m probably about 4-years-old. I was Cora when I was at Char Wills but there was already a Cora in the house when I came to stay with Zia. Before that I didn’t have a name. I lived in a small crate, giving birth over and over and then having my puppies taken away before I was ready to say goodbye. It was even more horrible than you think it was. When my body finally quit allowing me to make babies they dumped me at the rescue where I was overwhelmed and got a little spicy with well-meaning people thinking about taking me home. That’s when I was sent to foster & train. It took a little bit of time but I learned what it was like to live in a house, have a bed, enough food and clean water everyday, made friends, accepted that people can be kind and my broken heart began to heal. Montana has helped me finally get to be the Mom they never let me be, Annie Autumn taught me to stand up for myself, Gigi showed me the glory of being grumpy, Barkley helps me play like I should have been able to my whole life and I finally understand why other dogs love their people so, so much. I’m easy to get along with. I don’t take up too much space, I like a stroll around the block and I love lying in the sun. I will probably graduate this Sunday and the best gift I can imagine is a home and a family of my own. If you already have an approved adoption application submitted with us, please let us know if you would like to meet this beautiful girl! We will forward your information to the trainer to set up an appointment to meet at her location in the Harrisburg area. --- 5/13/26: Meet Cora 🐾 Cora came to us after spending much of her life as a puppy mill momma. That chapter is finally behind her, and now she’s getting the chance to discover what it truly means to just be a dog... safe, cared for, and loved for who she is. Cora is a high-energy girl with a zest for life that’s impossible to miss. She’s curious, active, and eager to explore the world around her. Everything still feels new to her, and watching her experience simple joys for the first time has been incredibly special. ✨ She’s very much in her “learning how to dog” era right now, soaking in new experiences and figuring things out one step at a time. Because of her background, Cora will need a patient home willing to guide her as she continues building confidence and learning routines. Cora would do best with an active family or person who can give her both physical exercise and mental enrichment. Dogs like her often flourish when given structure, consistency, and reassurance... and once they realize they’re finally safe, their personalities begin to bloom like fireworks in slow motion. 🎆 If you’re looking for an active companion and are ready to help a deserving girl grow into her best self, Cora may be the perfect addition to your home. 🐾

7/11/26: 🏡 I'm Hanging Out in Foster! Hey, friends! I'm taking a little break in a wonderful foster home while I recover from my aural hematoma. I'm getting lots of love, plenty of rest, and soaking up all the TLC I need—but don't worry, I'm still looking for my forever family! 💜 If you're an approved adopter and would like to meet me, just contact the Char-Wills office to coordinate a visit with my foster family. I can't wait to meet you! --- 7/7/26: Meet Amber! 🧡🐾 Amber's story began with her wandering around the Lincoln University area for nearly a week, hoping someone might recognize her. A kind-hearted person took her in and did everything they could to find her family, but sadly, no one ever came forward to claim her. Now, Amber is ready to leave that chapter behind and find the forever home she truly deserves. This sweet, gentle girl has a playful side that shines once she settles in. She absolutely loves chasing after water, whether it's from a hose, sprinkler, or splashing around outside. She's also rarely seen without a toy nearby, happily carrying one around as if it's her favorite treasure. Amber has a loving heart, a gentle nature, and plenty of affection to share with the lucky family who gives her a second chance. If you're looking for a loyal companion who can make you smile with her playful antics and melt your heart with her sweet personality, Amber may be the perfect match for you. Amber is ready to find a family that will never stop looking for her, because this time, she'll already be home. --- 7/5/26: Hello, everyone! I would like to say that I have just arrived at Char-Wills on 7/4/26. A kind Samaritan found me wandering in the Lincoln University area; unfortunately no one reclaimed me. There will be more information to come in the next week or so as I get settled in!
