Story
You've met Pete the cat, but have you met Pete the dog! Well here he is in all his glory! Pete is a smart 7-8 year old boy and would love to show you his sit and paw when you come to meet him! Pete has been in a foster home for about 4 mos and this is what we learned...Pete should be the only pet in the home because he loves his food and toys so much and doesn't want to share. He also will eat anything you have within reach...starting off 2026 on a health kick? Pete can help you clean out all the unhealthy foods! He rides well in the car and enjoys hikes and getting the zoomies. Older children or no children only in the home. Pete was heartworm positive and has completed treatment.  Pete is currently with Safety Net Sanctuary and you can reach out to them or us to find this guy his home.   Apply today at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Story
5/26/26: Today is our Jail swap day and I was picked to go this month, how exciting is that?! I'll be getting basic obedience training, crate and leash training, making sure I'm housebroken and socialized. I won't be available for adoption until I'm back on June 23rd. If you're interested in visiting me when I'm back, be sure to schedule your appointment on the 24th or 26th. Until then, stay frosty! --- 5/14/26: Meet Freya 🐾 Freya is a beautiful girl estimated to be around 6 years old who found her way to us after originally being picked up as a stray by a shelter. She has since been transferred into our rescue, where she’s beginning the next chapter of her life surrounded by care, stability, and plenty of fresh starts. Freya is still settling in and decompressing as she adjusts to all the new sights, sounds, and routines around her. Even so, it’s already clear that she’s an active girl who enjoys staying engaged and moving right alongside her people. ✨ As we continue getting to know her, we’ll be learning more about her personality, preferences, and what kind of home will help her thrive best. Dogs coming from stray situations often need a little time for their true selves to emerge, and watching that process unfold is always something special. Freya is now spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, making her fully ready to begin searching for the forever home she deserves. For someone looking for an active companion and willing to give her the patience she needs while she settles in, Freya could be a wonderful addition to the family. 🖤

Story
5/26/26: Meet Meesha — A Gentle Soul Looking for a Quiet Home Meesha, lovingly called “Momma,” is an approximately 5-year-old German Shepherd who came to Char-Wills from Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services in Louisiana after her family could no longer keep her. We also believe she may be the mother of one of our previously adopted dogs, Milo. Meesha is a calm, sensitive girl who thrives in peaceful environments. Loud noises, busy settings, and new people can make her nervous at first, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She’s incredibly gentle, affectionate, and happiest simply being close to her people. She knows sit, heel, stay, place, and wait, walks nicely on leash, and does very well off leash once bonded. Meesha is also house trained, crate trained, and has wonderful manners indoors. She rarely barks, enjoys gentle affection, and even has a playful side when it comes to chasing a ball. Meesha would do best in a quieter home with patient adopters willing to give her time to settle in and build trust. In return, she will reward them with unwavering love, loyalty, and companionship. --- 4/27/26: See ya later, everyone! I'm being shipped off to the rescue's monthly Prison Program today! While I'm there I'll get some basic training, crate training, and some socialization. I won't be available for adoption until I return to the rescue on May 26th. If you'd like to come meet me when I'm back, please schedule your appointment that Wednesday the 27th. Until then! --- 4/20/26: Meet Meesha 🐾 Meesha is a beautiful 5-year-old shepherd with a striking mostly black coat accented by touches of tan. She came to us from Louisiana after being surrendered through no fault of her own, and she’s now ready to begin her next chapter with a loving forever family. Meesha is a sweet girl with a kind disposition who enjoys human companionship and being part of the action. She will benefit from continued training to help refine her manners and build a strong bond with her future family. She’s a smart and determined dog who likes to keep life interesting, including showing off her impressive ability to climb a 6-foot fence if given the opportunity. Because of this, she will need a home that can provide a secure and supervised environment to keep her safe. Meesha can be reactive toward other dogs, so she is looking for a home where she can truly shine as the one and only pet. She’s ready to embrace her role as the “queen of the castle” and soak up all the love and attention for herself. She is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations, making her ready to head home with the right match. Meesha is ready for her fresh start. With structure, patience, and love, she has all the potential to be a loyal and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a smart, spirited dog who will keep life full of personality, Meesha may be your perfect fit. 💛 --- 4/7/26: Meet Meesha! 🐾 Meesha is a beautiful 5-year-old shepherd with a striking mostly black coat accented by touches of tan. She made her way to us from Louisiana, where she was surrendered to a shelter through no fault of her own, and is now ready for a fresh start and a loving forever home. Meesha is a nice girl with a sweet disposition, but she will certainly benefit from training to help polish her manners and set her up for success in her future home. She is also very determined and can climb a 6-foot fence if she wants to, so she’ll need a home prepared to keep her safe and secure. She is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all of her vaccines, making her ready to go home with the right family. This lovely girl is just waiting for someone to give her the second chance she deserves!💛

Story
Meet Sapphire Sapphire is a stunning solid white girl with a gentle heart and a loving personality to match her beauty. She came to our rescue through no fault of her own after her previous family realized they could not provide her with the space she needed to truly thrive. Without a yard to run and play in, Sapphire wasn’t getting the active lifestyle she deserves, and now she’s searching for a fresh start with a family ready to help her shine. This sweet girl has previously lived with a teenager and did wonderfully, showing herself to be patient, affectionate, and eager to be part of the family. She enjoys being close to her people and would love a home where she can be included in daily life, whether that means outdoor adventures, relaxed evenings, or simply being nearby while her humans go about their day. Sapphire is the kind of dog who turns heads with her snowy white coat, but it’s her soft spirit and steady warmth that truly leave a lasting impression. She has a calm, loving presence and a quiet enthusiasm for connection that makes her easy to root for from the very first meeting. Sapphire is also Lyme positive; however, she has already begun her 30-day treatment plan and is well on her way to recovery. She is responding well to care and continues to move forward with her usual bright, affectionate attitude. She is now ready for a forever home that can give her the space she’s been missing, the love she’s been waiting for, and the chance to settle into a life filled with comfort, companionship, and adventure written just for her.

Story
Meet Luna! Luna is a beautiful girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She came to us as an owner surrender after having difficulties getting along with the other dogs in her previous home. While that situation wasn't the right fit for her, it has helped us understand exactly what Luna is looking for in her forever family. Her previous owner describes her as active, attentive, affectionate, loving, and playful, and it's easy to see why. Luna enjoys being involved in whatever her people are doing and loves spending quality time with her family. Whether she's playing in the yard, going for walks, or soaking up attention on the couch, Luna is happiest when she's with her favorite humans. Because of her history with other dogs, Luna is looking for a home where she can be the one and only canine companion. She wants to be the queen of the castle and have all the love, toys, treats, and attention to herself. In return, she promises to give her family endless affection and loyalty. Luna is ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter with a family that understands her needs and appreciates everything she has to offer. If you're searching for a loving, playful companion who will be devoted to you, Luna may be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Ambar! Ambar is a beautiful 10-month-old girl weighing in at an impressive 85 pounds. While she may be a big puppy, she's still very much a youngster at heart, full of playful energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life. Ambar came to us from a shelter in New York after being surrendered following the heartbreaking loss of her owner. Through no fault of her own, she found herself needing a new family and a fresh start. Despite this difficult transition, Ambar has remained a loving, happy-go-lucky girl who is ready to share her heart with a forever family. In her previous home, Ambar lived successfully with both a large breed dog and a small breed dog. She has also shown that she can be gentle, patient, and tolerant around children of all ages, making her a wonderful candidate for a family home. Ambar's favorite activities include playing fetch, zooming around the yard, and spending time with her people. She would love a home where she can continue to enjoy plenty of exercise, playtime, and companionship. After a good play session, she's happy to settle down and enjoy some well-earned affection. If you're looking for a fun-loving, social, and affectionate young dog who is ready to be your new best friend, Ambar may be the perfect match. Come meet this sweet girl and see if she's the missing piece of your family!
