Story
G’day Mate…Meet Roo! This 10-month old canine kangaroo came to us from local animal control after being found as a stray. Roo Roo is a 29-lb pipsqueak, who bounces around to her people looking for love. She loves playing fetch inside (and out!) and has an adorable sprint where she looks like she’s hopping around like a magic marsupial. Roo is cute, super tiny, lovable, attentive, and a true velcro pup when snuggled up inside. She is elegantly agile and can squeeze into the smallest of spots with grace…whether it’s between her people cuddling on the couch, or just squeaking by your legs as something falls to the kitchen floor. She also eats any and all treats, which will make continued training a breeze! Despite her young age, Roo knows exactly who she is…very warm, snuggly, overly friendly, and loves giving face kisses (seriously – non-face kissers need not apply). Roo looks like a miniature German Shepherd, but without all the shedding, and has some age-appropriate puppy energy. She loves, loves, loves to play with her canine foster sister! But is just as content to let you throw a shrimp on the barbie and just hang out with the fam. She especially loves going for walks with the ENTIRE family. Roo is an easy and loveable pup who would be great for most families. Due to her lack of history, older kids would be best for this special snuggle buddy. Roo’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who gives her the attention she craves and one who doesn’t spend long days away from home.  2. A family devoted to continue teaching her basic manners to help her be the best pup ever. She is VERY treat motivated and eager to learn. 3. A family dedicated to lots of playtime to help burn her puppy energy, so she can relax and become the best snuggle bug ever!March 1, 2024, 8:28 pm

Story
Kuma is a very sweet lady! Born during Covid, she definitely suffers the effects of being undersocialized because of the time in which she was a puppy… With people she is familiar with, she’s a perfect angel - sweet, silly, SUPER chill, friendly, and cuddly! Once she meets someone once or twice, it’s all good. With other dogs, she gets along with 99% of dogs — she even goes to daycare! There’s one dog every few weeks that she doesn’t get along with, but usually it goes well. The reason she needs to be rehomed is unfortunately because Kuma does NOT do well with children or babies. Even with intense professional training over a year, it did not improve at all. Kuma would do best in a home with NO children, and possibly a furry sibling! She would also do best with a fenced yard as she is quite reactive to strangers. Please reach out if interested and we can go into more detail over a video call. We are looking for a very loving home for this angel, Kuma. She deserves the best!

Our family brought Max home 8 years ago and he’s brought us a lot of joy. He’s a loyal, sweet, intelligent dog. He loves hiking, trails and car rides so he can stick his head out the window! He’s great with of kids of all ages, as well as other animals but doesn’t like to share his toys. Max absolutely loves apples and peanut butter. He loves getting groomed, He reserves his barking for when someone is knocking on the door and for the most part is a pretty quiet dog. He loves cuddles and being extra close to his favorite people. Looking for a serious and responsible family. Please acknowledge any traveling you may need to do before submitting the application!

Story
Tatum is a gorgeous, shy German Shepherd Dog who had a rough start to life. Tatum is hoping to find an adoptive home who has experience with dogs, and understands their body language. He is wonderfully sweet and curious once he makes friends with new people. Tatum has a great nose and loves long, sniffy walks, and exploring. Tatum is affectionate and happy with people he trusts, and walks fairly well on a leash. He will bark at new people who move quickly towards him, and likes to make friends by just hanging out and going for walks without being the center of attention. Tatum is very gently curious about other dogs, and may be able to live with another dog who can approach him calmly. At this time he is looking for an adult home, and may take a few meets before he is ready to go home with an adopter. This great boy will make a wonderful friend for an adopter who is willing to go slow, and build his confidence. If you are are interested in meeting Tatum, please head to our website at worcesterarl.org and fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry to request a meet with Tatum. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you!

Story
Meet Willow Wonderful Intelligent Loving Loyal Only pet! Willow Get ready to fall in love! Willow is an amazing dog who is looking for the right home. She is breathtakingly beautiful with fancy markings and two different colored eyes. She is affectionate and loyal towards her people. She is like a woodland nymph - dancing through the forests with beauty and joy. Willow had a tough start to life. Initially, she was in a high kill shelter in the South. She was pregnant. A rescue group transported her up here. She had her puppies and she was adopted out. However, her new family was unable to meet her needs. My family took her in. From the beginning, Willow was exuberantly affectionate with us. Despite her size, she really wants to be a "lap dog". Because of her size and strength, Willow should not live with young children. Willow enjoys long walks in the woods. Walking with her is a beautiful experience! You almost feel like you are gliding through the forest. But, Willow is reactive towards other dogs. We are working on this and she is responding well to positive reinforcement training. But, she will need to be with a walker who is both strong and firm. She would benefit from professional training. Willow requires a home where she is the "only pet". Medical tests revealed that Willow was suffering from a bad case of heartworm. Luckily, through Broken Tail, Willow went through the lengthy process of heartworm treatment. The treatment involved three injections, medications, and complete crate rest. She is now done with treatment and is active and healthy. Crate-trained and house-trained, Willow is one smart pup. She knows commands and is a good learner. She should be the only pet in her home, no other dogs or cats please. --- If you are interested in finding out more about Willow, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Willow is being fostered in the Worcester area. The adoption fee is $450. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
