Details

Story
Stormy came to my home around 9 months of age. Previous owner was elderly and having health issues. She is almost 2 1/2 now. She is a sweet, loving, snuggly girl. Great with kids. Loves chewing bones. Energetic. She is a runner so would recommend a fenced in yard or tie-out run. She likes to chase any critter. Loves walks, but is a puller. She does better with a harness. I’m needing to rehome her because she has become very possesive over me and has been aggressive and bit our older dog. She has never had any issues with other dogs. She goes to dog parks and doggy daycare with no problems. At home I think she just wants to be the center of doggy attention. She is a lover girl and it breaks my heart to have to rehome her.

German Shepherd Dog

Male, Adult
Jefferson, WI
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
2 years old (estimated) Neutered male Has done well with other dogs at the shelter No known experience with cats or children Boa is a sweet, friendly, and athletic boy who loves being outside, wrestling with his doggie pals, and soaking up all the butt scratches he can get! He’s a pro at sitting nicely for treats, and while his leash manners could use a little work (he’s got a bit of a pull), he’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who’s ready to learn — especially if treats are involved. If you’re looking for an energetic, fun-loving companion, Boa’s your guy! Boa has been waiting a while to find his family so his adopter can name their own adoption fee when they take him home! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.January 2, 2026, 9:48 am

Intake Reason: Police impound- owner incarceratedWeight: 90 lbs Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Does well in WCHS playgroups, participates in the rowdy group ·Kids: UnknownFun Facts About Me:•I am a high-octane guy who is at my best when I have plenty of exercise, both physical and mental•I love to run in the courtyard and think it would be lovely to run or jog with you on our walks•You would be doing me a huge favor by training with me to hone my manners; I have a tendency to jump up on people and that can be a tad intimidating due to my size•I am a friendly and playful boy; I like to have a good time•I know the cues for ‘sit’ and ‘come’ and think it would be grand to learn more human words; I am a smart lad and like to keep my brain busy•I am an affectionate guy and think tender neck and body scratches and snuggles are wonderful; I prefer that people do not touch my ears though because I do not like that at all•I think it is fun to play fetch but don’t necessarily like to bring it back and give it to you; perhaps having multiple toys or balls would be a good idea#2

Story
Intake Reason: Transfer from a Texas shelter.Weight: 18 lbs Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Does well in WCHS’s active playgroup. ·Kids: UnknownPuppies are magnificent! I am cute, rambunctious, lively and fun. I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a tiny sponge who is ready to absorb everything you must teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn’t as exotic and daunting a task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a doorbell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be tiny now but I do plan on getting bigger so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I also know I have to practice something called house-training, so I know proper potty behavior. A routine and lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething, I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment, and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I just know I will bring joy and laughter into your home and cannot wait to meet you. Let the adventures begin!#1
