I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a tiny sponge who is ready to absorb everything you have to teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn't as exotic and daunting a task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a door bell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be tiny now but I do plan on getting bigger so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine and lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I just know I will bring joy and laughter into your home and cannot wait to meet you. Let the adventures begin!#1

This is Gary I rescued him from a kill shelter down in Houston Texas at Harris county pets. He's a 10 month old Shepard mix that is neutered and all up to date with all vaccines. I just picked him up he’s very playful and full of energy but he can play a bit on the ruff side with other dogs… He's good at staying in the yard when i’m out side but Im training him with a wireless fence but he’s pretty good on staying in the yard tho. Marcus is such a sweet, loving, gentle boy. He is only a year or two old. He was found as a stray and was unclaimed at the shelter where we rescued him just before he was going to be euthanized because the shelter was out of room. Someone must have loved Marcus (we call his “Woofie”) because he trusts people and already knows “sit” and “stay”—and “shake hands”! He came to us from a shelter in Texas, and—not too surprisingly (coming from the deep south)—he has tested positive for heartworms. He seems to be healthy, though, and our vet thinks that he must just have just recently been infected, so she is quite certain no permanent harm has been done. Once he finishes his treatment, he will be as good as new. We have been treating him over the summer months, and he will be “good to go” by mid- to late September. Marcus walks well on a leash and is good with other dogs. His foster mom thinks--with just a little training--he would make a wonderful therapy dog, visiting children in hospitals and the elderly in nursing homes. Marcus would enjoy a safely fenced yard (no "invisible" fencing) and an adopter who is home much of the time. His adoption fee is $375 and he has been neutered, microchipped, tested (negative) for intestinal parasites, and he is updated on his distemper and rabies shots. Adira was found running at large in Memphis and was subsequently brought to a veterinary clinic by a kind MPD Officer. She was severely emaciated and scared. “Addie” as she has come to be known, quickly made herself at home at her Foster’s farm while she gained weight and recuperated. She is now around 65 pounds and estimated to be 2-3 years old. Addie loves to play ball, go on long walks through the woods, run, ride in cars, and snuggle. She is wonderful for baths, tolerates nail trims, and more than anything, just wants to be anywhere her human is. Although she is high energy when the opportunity presents itself, Addie would make a suitable apartment dog for someone who works from home. Her foster family works from home and she spends the entire workday snuggled on her bed beside her foster mom while she works. Addie is kennel trained, but she is a large dog and would not be suited for kenneling all day while family or individual works. Addie will do best with an active lifestyle and plenty of time for play. She does need to be the only dog as she is an alpha female and does not share her humans or her territory. Addie is deeply loyal and very protective. She is friendly to new people if her person is friendly to them. THIS GUY! Wow! He has come a LONG away since he's been in our care. He was scheduled for euthanasia simply because they were out of room. He and his brother Happy. So a Good Samaritan pulled them both and spared them from certain death. They have been amazing, becoming very social because they have been attending doggy daycare everyday and receiving hands in one on one professional training! Captain is approx 7-8 months old. He's shy at first around new things but warms up quickly. He is kennel trained and house trained and it goes without saying he's dog friendly since he attends doggy daycare! He's super easy to get along with just needs a patient family because he is a bit shy at first around new things. He's with Kip and Michele in their home in Memphis, Tn. Everyone meet Jax! This super sweet shy guy is one amazing pup with a huge heart. Jax is going to need someone very patient with him. He needs time to adjust. That’s all he needs is time and patience. He’s timid initially, but once warmed up, he steals the show and your heart at the same time. He would probably do better with someone with another dog. Jax is great with other dogs and puppies and they help him feel more comfortable which allows him to come out of his shell quicker. He loves walks and car rides!!! Jax has fostered with two of our fosters here in Memphis and they would both be happy to give you a little more information about him.
