Story
Cheyenne is a courtesy listing due to her owner passing away. She is currently being cared for by a neighbor. Prospective adopters will need to complete our application and approval process. Here is information from the people who know Cheyenne: Cheyenne is a beautiful shepherd who has a birth date of 5-20-2022. She lived with two other shepherds, prior to her owner passing away. One was a 12 year old shepherd, and the other was her brother. Cheyenne has done great with people coming in and out of her home as a lot of healthcare workers, friends and family came and went the past year in her home. Right now she is spending a lot of time alone in the home and waits for a kind neighbor to come and spend time with her and the other shepherd in the home. She has not been around cats or children yet, but did well meeting with another dog. She loves to please, wants to do things with you, and wants to share experiences with you. Her current routine is to be let out at 7am, noon, 5:30 & 9:30pm. She eats twice a day (wellness white fish). She has a fenced yard to play in and she is kennel trained. (Kennels can go with them at adoption). Her house manners are barking when someone comes in. She can be a bit excited and jumpy at first, but calms down after a few minutes. She is potty trained and is very good about not soiling in the house. Cheyenne likes her chewies and tv. She would probably enjoy a basic obedience class and would be very receptive to a loving pack leader. Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250. Story
9.5 months old (estimated) Neutered male 35 lbs. Looking for a home without cats or young children Has been selective with other dogs QBert is a high-energy, intelligent young pup who absolutely loves people and is eager to please. He’s a fast learner who thrives with structure, mental stimulation, and consistent training—he already knows commands like sit, wait, down, chase, and retrieve! QBert would do best in a home without young children or cats and may prefer to be the only dog, as he can be selective with other dogs and is still working on toy possessiveness. With the right person who can give him the time and guidance he needs, QBert will be an incredibly rewarding and loyal companion. QBert has been waiting a while to find his family so his adopter can name their own adoption fee when they take him home! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.April 8, 2025, 3:49 pm

Story
Pretty Pria has come a long way since she came in as a stray in neglected shape. If you look at pictures of her then and now, they’re practically from different animals! She’s much fuller, happier, and overall, a better dog thanks to the care she received at the shelter.Pria is now working hard on her social skills, but she is still pretty shy when it comes to strangers. She`s come a long way, but will need a kind person to continue her journey with her. She`s not a fan of little kids, so a household with children wouldn’t be great. Cats aren`t her favorite companions either, so she wouldn`t do well in a home with them. She`s looking for a loving home, but may want to be the only animal in the household. If you are looking for a loyal companion, Pria is the dog for you, but it’ll take some time and more than one visit before she will trust you enough to take her home. There’s no doubt that she will reward your dedication.Ask about her today! *Please remember dog meetings are by appointment with an approved application.Reach out to the shelter by calling 262-723-1000 or emailing at lakelandanimalshelter@gmail.com
