Story
About Me: Name: Magical Sapphire Breed (or best guess): Mixed - possibly German Shepherd Mix Approximate Age: 1 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 40 lb Adoption Fee: $395 Requirements: Loving Family with patience Why In Rescue: Texas Transfer Profile:  Sapphire has been looking for the right home for some time and is now in a foster home learning about home life.  She is doing well with housetraining and loves to play with dogs her size.  We did find out she has a condition called EPI where she isn't able to process the nutrients in food so she wasn't able to gain weight.  She is now on a daily enzyme supplement and is doing so much better.  She will need to be on the supplement for the rest of her life so that is something to keep in mind when adopting.  Sapphire is gaining more confidence everyday in her foster home and is hoping to find her forever home soon.  Update:  Sapphire is doing great in her foster home.  She goes on adventures and loves it - she swims, paddleboards, and is trying out flyball.  Another medium size active dog in the home and a fenced yard would be ideal for her. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to.  We do put the needs of each particular dog first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a specific dog isn't suitable for your home or living situation. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS August 4, 2026, 8:30 pm

Bolt the Stunning Mixed Breed's Story This handsome 75 pound, 2.5-year-old Lab mix is equal parts goofy, affectionate, and fun. Bolt has a playful personality and a smile that can light up a room, especially when hes out exploring, going for walks, or soaking up attention from his people. Bolt is both potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to a home looking for a dog with good household manners already in place. He settles nicely in his crate and understands the routine of living in a home. Bolt would love a family that will continue to build his confidence, include him in daily adventures, and appreciate his lovable, slightly goofy nature. Hes the perfect age-past the puppy chaos but still young enough to enjoy all of lifes adventures with his future family. If youre looking for a loyal companion with a big smile, expressive ears, and an even bigger heart, Bolt may be the perfect match for you! Health & Vetting: Bolt is neutered, up to date on vaccines for his age, is dewormed, and microchipped. Intake Reason: Transfer from Gulf Coast Humane Society Weight: 38 lb Known with:·Dogs: Participates in rowdy playgroup. ·Kids: Unknown·Cats: UnknownCheck out a video about me by copying and pasting the following link:https://youtu.be/XIjTXaJbD34Puppies are magnificent! I am cute, rambunctious, lively and fun. I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a tiny sponge who is ready to absorb everything you must teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn’t as exotic and daunting a task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a doorbell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be tiny now but I do plan on getting bigger so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I also know I have to practice something called house-training, so I know proper potty behavior. A routine and lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething, I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment, and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I just know I will bring joy and laughter into your home and cannot wait to meet you. Let the adventures begin!#1

Intake Reason: Returned; not house brokenWeight: 80# Known with: ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Cats: UnknownCheck out a video about me by copying and pasting the following link:https://youtu.be/1f0FFVTDk6gFun Facts About Me:•I was adopted for a short time but returned because I was struggling with house training. It would be best if I followed a strict and consistent protocol for a while to help me master that skill•I am comfortable in a crate and considered it my comfy cozy little den where I could sleep at night•I am an active boy and I love to run around; the house I lived in had a fenced yard and that was pretty sweet•I enjoy going on walks but must confess that I do pull a tad on the leash•I have been exposed to a toddler and a teenager and did great•I had a grand time playing with neighborhood dogs and have joined the rowdy playgroup at the shelter where I get to romp•I have been described as intelligent and playful with a wee bit of a stubborn streak•I know how to ‘sit’ on cue and accept treats gently for a job well done•I think car rides are lovely and hope to be your faithful companion and sidekick on many fun adventures#2
