Story
Tiny “Dancer” is a handsome young 10 month old, 103 pound Great Dane who has come from a situation that was not good for him.  He is underweight and needs a kinder owner who is filled with love and a desire to humanely train him.  Rescued from a neglectful home we have found this boy to be sweet and loving and adores children.   He is such a GOOFBALL and he loves to play with his other Great Dane who is like a sister to him.  They do not need to be adopted together but could be if someone was looking to do so.  This boy was hit by a car back in October while with his original owner.   A pin was put in but it was not removed as it should have been by the owner with a revisit to the vet.  It created an infection that he is over with now and the pin is removed but he will always have a limp from this lack of good care from his former owner.  It is healed but it did create a limp.  We like to tell all that we know and despite not being perfect, this boy promises to give his most perfect love and keep you laughing at the same time!  If you are interested please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.   We have just neutered him and also did a lifesaving stomach tack to help him avoid stomach bloat that often occurs in the large breed dogs at a high percentage.  We are giving him health insurance to never die from this quick onset flip of the stomach that often comes out of nowhere.  Contact us if you are interested in Tiny Dancer! ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 6, 2023, 6:56 pm

Story
Meet Boone the Dane! Quick Facts: Breed: Great Dane Age: 1 year (estimated DOB 2/22/22) Size: 136# and still growing! Boone the Dane was rescued by a good Samaritan who witnessed him being thrown from a vehicle. Outside of some allergies and several calluses on his legs that are trying to heal, this guy is healthy and ready to find his forever family! He will need a diet WITHOUT chicken, as he is allergic. It not only causes itching and the need to treat with medication, but it also greatly upsets his stomach, and given the size of his digestive system - it's a no for me, dawg. Boone the Dane's strength equally matches his energy level, which is not low by any stretch of the imagination. He is working real hard on his listening skills, but as a 136# adolescent giant, his family will need to out-stubborn him. He is incredibly smart and wants to learn, but will need clear and consistent expectations from every member of his household in order to be successful. He currently knows sit & shake, & will walk well on a leash until something more interesting than you catches his eye. Unless your kids want to know what it's like to be a tractor plow, we REALLY don't recommend anyone with less than Hulk strength on the other end of his leash at this time. He has not formally been introduced to his foster's other dogs at this point in his training regimen, but he seems to enjoy their company & whines when they go outside without him. He has never met a cat, nor any children, but he is super sweet and loves to give kisses to pure strangers. He has a HUGE heart and lots of love to give to someone who can help reign in his manners. He is working on learning that jumping on you is not an acceptable greeting, and listens well to corrections in the moment. He doesn't quite understand the value or purpose of toys unless it is to harbor yummy peanut butter or snacks - why play with ropes when he can have food?! Boone the Dane LOVES car rides, almost as much as he likes attempting to climb in the driver's seat during the entire thing. Pair this terrible habit with his other need to place the majority of his upper body out the window.. annnnd you'll definitely need to budget a sturdy dog-seatbelt to keep everyone safe on your way to get him a pupaccino. Boone the Dane has some hops he's pretty proud of, so if you have a fence, we are recommending a sturdy, 6 ft fence to keep him and his puppy antics contained in your backyard and not romping around the neighborhood the second you're not staring into his corneas. He's got some unresolved beef with the neighboring pot-bellied pigs, so it's unlikely he would be living his best life on a farm. He is crate trained and house trained. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Boone the Dane is $458 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Zeus is ready for adoption! He's an awesome big boy! Zeus is still a puppy, but he is smart and is learning all of his manners. He can sit and stay. He loves going outside and is doing very well with house-breaking. Zeus loves to play in the yard and then come in for a nap on the couch. He gives kisses and is a real sweetheart. Zeus does best with female dogs. With males he gets too dominant. Zeus would do well with a family with kids and female dogs, as he loves to play! No kids for this big fella. He is good on a leash, as well. Could you be his furever??!! Send us an email or message with questions!

Story
Hedy and Lamarr are 7 year old Great Dane sisters. They are incredibly loving dogs. They have always been together and do not like to be apart. They spend most of their day relaxing on their twin size day bed. They don’t require much exercise as they are getting older, but they love to run around in an open area. They are very healthy and have never had any major health concerns. They love new people, cuddling on the couch (when welcomed) and being pet. We love them very much, but with our 3 small children, we feel they deserve to live out their golden years with a family who can give them the love they deserve. They are trained to not jump on beds or furniture (minus their own). They love to go on walks, hikes, or just relax out in the sun. They can be trusted alone in the house for short periods of time, or longer periods if they are contained to a room. We can provide two large crates as well. They have been boarded many times and have spent the night in other homes with other dogs.

Story
Hank is a ~17-month-old male Great Dane. Happy Hank is 113 pounds of puppy love. Hank spent much of his puppyhood crated because of a fractured and dislocated hip and now with his hip replacement he is embracing life and exploring the world with vigor. Hank is fortunate to be part of Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love Rescue where he received first-rate medical care for his infections, heartworm, and hip. Hank is happy, healthy, and hopeful. Hank will flourish in a home with an experienced large, breed dog owner who has time to devote to him.  In his new home, he will need a family who is willing to work with him on his training, leash manners, and socialization - things that he was unable to work on during his puppyhood. Since Hank has regained his mobility and will no longer require further medical intervention, he is a spirited fella who needs to be exposed to new environments and sounds. Everything is new and sometimes a bit intimidating for Hank, but he is a faster learner, and his foster parents are walking him daily to increase his confidence. While Hank is currently not neutered, he will be scheduled for neutering in February. Hank is a goofy boy who still has puppy energy and is sometimes unaware of his large body, so we recommend a house with children 8+ who are comfortable with giant dogs. He has lived with other dogs and cats but Hank lacks confidence with other dogs and has been known to chase cats.  For this reason, we think Hank will do best in an active household without other pets, so he can get plenty of attention. Hank is perfectly potty trained and trustworthy to free-roam in the house without worry of being destructive. He is also willing to hang out in his crate and wait for you to return home.  Some of Hank’s favorite activities include hang out with you in the kitchen while you're cooking dinner, snooze on the couch while you're watching TV, or playing with toys while you work from home. At night, he will happily sleep in a dog bed at the foot of your bed. Hank rides great in the car and does well at the vet, making all the staff fall in love with his sweet puppy eyes and forehead uni-wrinkle. Hank is looking for his humans to love and to lean on…literally lean on, sit on, and love on. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Please email us for an application or if you have any questions.*****   June 5, 2023, 2:49 pm
