Story
Thor is a one-year-old Great Dane and Lab mix weighing 71 pounds, and his story already reads like the opening scene of a movie. Found running loose through a Tennessee neighborhood, this big, beautiful boy was moments away from tragedy when fate—and a young dog lover—stepped in. Twice Thor ran in front of her car, and instead of driving on, she stopped, opened her door, and called to him. Without hesitation, Thor leapt into the back seat as if he knew his life was about to change. And it did.   With no collar and no microchip, Thor became part of Critter Cavalry Rescue and stayed with the very woman who saved him. From the moment he was safe, his true nature began to shine. Thor is strikingly handsome, with chiseled features and expressive ears that nearly stand straight up, giving him a regal, alert look—like a show dog who wandered off the Westminster runway and into a superhero origin story.   But don’t let the model looks fool you. Thor is pure joy wrapped in a giant puppy body. He tosses toys into the air, pounces on squeaky treasures, and delights in balls and stuffed animals with the enthusiasm of a dog who is still discovering how fun life can be. He doesn’t quite realize how big or strong he is yet, but his heart is gentle and his spirit is eager.   Thor is intelligent, focused, and deeply people-oriented. When you work with him, he locks onto you completely, especially if treats are involved, which makes training both effective and fun. He is wonderful with other dogs, showing no dominance or alpha behavior, just friendly curiosity and easygoing charm. Recently neutered, Thor is still growing and will likely fill out into a solid 90-pound adult over the next year.   He is housebroken and currently learning that being alone doesn’t mean being abandoned, as crates aren’t quite his favorite place. Thor simply loves people and wants to be near them, soaking in companionship and reassurance. His liver-and-black coat shifts with the sunlight, turning heads wherever he goes, and making him unforgettable long after he’s passed by.   Thor is the kind of dog who comes into your life once and leaves a permanent mark on your heart. He is waiting for someone to guide him, shape him, and grow with him into the extraordinary companion he is clearly meant to be.     If you are interested in making this big boy a big part of your life please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Tell us where you live, city and state.   We adopt to Tennessee where our rescue is based and he is being fostered, but we also transport to the Northeast   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 24, 2026, 5:58 pm

Hera is a 2 year old gentle giant. She loves to cuddle and relax. She can be shy at times but overall has a good temperament. She weighs 125 lbs and she definitely doesn’t know that she is a giant dog. We are hopeful to rehome Hera to a loving home that can be more attentive to her.

Story
Milo is a 15-week-old puppy with a gentle soul, wiggly puppy energy, and so much love to give. After a difficult start to life—being neglected and treated poorly for not looking like his siblings—Milo is ready for a fresh beginning with a family who will cherish him. He’s a shy boy at first, but once he feels safe, Milo will give you his whole heart. He’s a total cuddle bug who wants to be as close to you as possible and will happily follow you from room to room. With his long legs and bouncy hops, he moves like a little kangaroo and brings constant smiles with his goofy, clumsy charm. Milo loves other dogs, enjoys playtime, and is learning the ropes in his foster home. He’s working on basic training, doing well with leash walks, sleeps in his crate at night, and looks to his older foster brother for confidence and guidance. Milo needs a patient, loving home that will help him continue building confidence and show him that he is finally safe and loved—exactly as he is. 🐾💙 --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Hi. Hello. Hi again. My name is Hank and I am, scientifically speaking, the bestest boy. Full transparency though: the world is BIG and LOUD and PEOPLE are kinda scary  . When I first landed with my foster dad, I needed a few solid weeks to decompress, observe from a safe distance, and decide if humans were… chill. Spoiler alert: my foster dad passed the vibe check. Once I felt safe, my true personality came out and WOW—I am a certified snuggle champion with a major affection streak. I currently live with two foster siblings (both Danes) and let me tell you—no fear there. We wrestle. We play tug-of-war. We steal toys from each other like professionals. They’ve helped boost my confidence a TON, and I would love to have fur siblings in my forever home. Fair warning: I play hard, so a sibling with energy and patience would be ideal. Outside the house? Still spooky. We’re working on leash skills and socializing. I’m not “bad” on a leash—I just sometimes sit down and politely refuse to continue because THE WORLD IS A LOT. Progress is happening, slowly and on my terms, and my foster dad is super patient with me (10/10 human). Now that I’m comfy, my puppy side is fully activated: • Goofy   • Clumsy   • Will steal anything I can reach   • Loves bringing sticks inside like priceless treasures   I’m almost fully potty trained, learning to sit and shake, and VERY food motivated (treats = trust). I’m kennel trained-ish—still not my favorite, but toss a couple treats in there and I’ll dramatically but obediently walk myself in. Oh, and ICE IS AMAZING. Truly elite snack. My foster dad says I’m going to make my future family incredibly happy. He’s really proud of how far I’ve come—and yeah, I think they’ll miss me—but he keeps telling me there’s a family out there who needs a sweet, sensitive, snuggly giant puppy like me to call their own. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to love a Dane puppy who’s learning that the world isn’t so scary… I might just be your guy.    Hank is being fostered in Fort Mill, SC.  If interested in adopting you can email us at info@greatdanefriends.com for an application.  A fenced yard is required to give Hank a safe off leash area to run and zoom. *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Story
Meet Juniper — Your Gentle, Curious Companion! Sweet, soulful Juniper is a beautiful mix of curiosity and heart. Rescued from a shelter in September, this lovely girl (estimated to be around 2–4 years old) has blossomed in her foster home and is ready to find her forever family. Juniper is still learning that the world is a safe place, so she’ll need a patient, loving owner who can help her continue to build her confidence. Once she warms up, she’s incredibly affectionate — a total snuggle bug who adores her humans. She’s happiest with another friendly dog by her side to show her the ropes and loves wrestling and cuddling with her foster siblings. Juniper has been great around kids of all ages, though she’d thrive best in a quieter home without lots of constant noise or activity. Her perfect match? An active family that’s home often or loves bringing their pup along for adventures. She’s learning that food and love are always there for her — and she’ll reward you with endless loyalty, warmth, and tail wags. Juniper is ready to meet the patient, kindhearted family who will help her bloom into the confident, joyful dog she’s meant to be. Could that be you? Juniper is being fostered in Chapel Hill NC. Story
Meet Sadie Smart. Curious. Already growing into her big-dog future Sadie was born September 2, 2025, and at just a few months old she is already reached 30 pounds, giving a very real preview of the strong, athletic large-breed dog she’s becoming. The first thing people notice about Sadie is her incredible ears—always alert, expressive, and impossible to miss. They perfectly match her curious, thoughtful personality. Sadie is a Great Dane–forward mix (Great Dane, Cane Corso, American Pit Bull Terrier, Siberian Husky/German Shepherd) and is expected to mature into a 60–80 lb adult. Sadie at a glance DOB: 9/2/2025 Current weight: ~30 lbs and growing Breed mix: Great Dane, Cane Corso, APBT, Husky/German Shepherd Expected adult size: Large (approx. 60–80 lbs) Energy: Puppy energy with a solid ability to settle Personality: Smart, curious, playful, sweet, and socially aware People: Friendly and appropriate with adults Children: Has met young children and did very well—curious, gentle, and respectful Dogs: Social and adaptable; reads cues well and adjusts play Cats: Untested Life with Sadie Sadie enjoys playtime, exploration, and learning new things—but she also knows how to rest. After activity, she settles nicely indoors and is comfortable relaxing on her own or in her crate. She’s already showing the kind of balance that experienced large-breed adopters value. She’s comfortable in a home environment, handles routine well, and continues to build confidence through normal puppy experiences. Training & manners Crate trained Nearly house-trained; goes to the door when she needs to potty (normal puppy supervision applies) Leash skills: Still learning, as expected; redirects well with a martingale collar or harness Car rides: Does well and settles on longer trips Cues she knows: sit, wait, no, off Working on: down, stay, and come Motivation: Enjoys treats and engagement; responds well to praise and interaction Social style Sadie approaches new people thoughtfully and politely. With other dogs, she shows good social awareness—matching energy and giving space when appropriate. She has done well meeting young children, showing curiosity and gentleness with appropriate supervision. She could thrive as an only dog or enjoy having canine companions. Sadie is being fostered in Anderson SC. If interested in adopting email us at info@greatdanefriends.com for an application. A fenced yard will be required so she has a safe place to run and romp and do all the puppy things! *****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. Story
Meet Sage! Sage is a 4-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix, possible Labrador or Golden Retriever, with a calm presence, soft eyes, and a heart as big as her 70-pound frame (though she should ideally be closer to 80 pounds). While Sage has the classic loyalty and confidence of her breed, she is not a working dog. She is a true family companion who enjoys being indoors with her people. That said, like many Anatolian mixes, she does enjoy spending time outside and appreciates a home with space to stretch her legs and enjoy fresh air. Sage does great with children and is both crate trained and house trained. She gets along well with other dogs and carries a natural, calm leader energy. She currently lives peacefully with a female Great Pyrenees and has had no issues with chickens, but she is not cat friendly. Though Sage has energy appropriate for her age, she is also able to relax nicely in the home and settles well with her family. She brings a steady, grounding presence and would thrive with a family looking for a loyal shadow, a gentle cuddle buddy, and a dog who wants companionship more than a job. If you’re looking for a devoted, calm, and loving family dog wrapped in a big, beautiful package, Sage may be the perfect match. Ready to give Sage the home she deserves? Come meet her — she’s waiting to be your calm and constant friend If you are interested in adopting Sage, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. ** January 24, 2026, 7:16 am
