Story
Meet Leo! This lovable pup is a unique mix of Siberian Husky, Great Pyrenees, and Mountain Cur. Leo is a sweet, affectionate boy who adores spending time with his humans. He loves to play with his ball and to go for walks and hikes. He’s a great indoor dog that is crate trained and also loves quiet time cuddling with his human. He loves to go for rides in the car, especially when going for a hike or play date. At the shelter, Leo earned the title of "play yard rockstar" for his excellent social skills with other dogs regardless of their size. He’s a smart pup who already knows several commands, including "sit," "down," "shake," and "leave it." Leo will need a home with a 6-foot fence and a playful canine companion to keep him company. He may be a little shy around men at first, but with patience, kindness, and treats, he quickly warms up and shows his loving nature. He’s ready to find his forever family—could that be you? Leo can’t wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Lola – Your Next Best Friend! Lola is a gorgeous Husky mix born at the end of January, and she’s ready to steal your heart! This sweet and playful girl absolutely adores the company of other dogs, so we’d love to see her go to a forever home with a canine companion to keep her tail wagging. With regular outdoor breaks, she’s right on track with her house training. She’s also learning to walk on a leash and is doing fabulously. Story
Say hello to Bye-Bye — an approximately two-year-old purebred Husky whose gentle nature will immediately steal your heart. He’s truly the type of dog you could never imagine saying bye to!  True to his breed, Bye-Bye was found wandering. He approached his future foster dad in a hospital parking lot, licked his face and jumped right in the car.  If Bye-Bye had a family, they sadly never claimed him. But it’s truly their loss. His foster family is realizing that Bye-Bye is a practically perfect Husky — weighing in at just 43 lbs.  Bye-Bye is friendly with all people, even strangers, and gets along great with all other dogs. He walks well on a leash and won’t pull you down the street. He’s happy to ignore the crazy, barking dogs he passes.  Bye-Bye is just a chill fella; nothing seems to faze him. He enjoys wandering around the yard smelling all the smells and then coming inside to enjoy a nap on the cool hardwood floors. He takes a lot of naps! He does have a little bit of the husky whine, but he doesn’t use it often.  Bye-Bye has learned to relax in the crate, but he’s totally fine being loose in the house and is not destructive. He’s not a chewer and doesn’t even want any of the chew toys his fellow foster dogs love. Bye-Bye is a perfect gentlemen with refined taste. He would never dare eat a plain old milk bone.  Bye-Bye’s perfect forever home would perhaps be in the cooler climates of New England, or at least a well air-conditioned home in the South. A securely fenced yard is a must because he does look for ways to escape a yard, but he has not escaped at his foster family’s home. A lengthy morning walk usually gets that urge out of his system, so we’re looking for a home that also enjoys long walks. Bye-Bye also adores going on car rides and sticking his head out of the window. He’d be a great companion to take everywhere with you!  Bye-Bye’s future forever family will truly be so lucky to have him. He has totally stolen the hearts of his foster family in just a few short weeks. Story
Meet Lazarus, a resilient little parvo survivor who literally came back from the brink of death during his fight with the virus and is now living his life to the fullest!  He goes by Laz in his foster home where he is proving to be an all-around good boy. He loves to play with other dogs and enjoys meeting new people. He recently captured many hearts at an adoption event, where he was held by lots of different people for hours! He’s got a quiet confidence about him and seems very chill for a 3-month-old puppy. Nothing seems to faze him.  Laz is excelling at both potty training and crate training. He goes to the bathroom as soon as you take him outside and sleeps quietly in his crate at night.   Laz would be a perfect addition to almost any home with the time to take on a puppy. Laz is very easygoing and adaptable to all situations. He’ll be a nice medium size when full grown, likely between 35-45 lbs. His breed is a bit of a mystery, but our best guess would be a husky and terrier mix. All we know for sure is that he’s 100 percent lovable!  If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel.
