Story
HELP: ACTIVE DUTY AIR FORCE! I adopted Roman when I was stationed in North Dakota in 2019. He was born December 5th 2018. I leave in June for 8 months of training in Georgia and I cannot bring him with me. It pains me to have to make this profile, but I am hoping that he will find his forever home where his parent(s) have the time and space that he deserves. He is your typical husky; loud, talkative, goofy, and escape artist. He loves to play and will need a fenced in back yard. He does great with children, but does not like to be picked up or hugged so older kids would be ideal. He tolerates dogs, but would be better as a single dog. If there is another dog that other dog must know social cues/boundries. He is pretty well trained (sit, paw, down, speak, stay) and walks best with a face lead. Please help me find Roman a loving home. I would want to do a home visit with him before making my final decision.

Story
My name is Chomper and I'm not the kind of dog whose world is just black and white. Where some dogs are brown-eyed or blue-eyed, I'm both. Where some dogs' coat colors are easy to describe, mine is... Blue? Tan? White? Merle? A little of each? It's not just that, though. For some dogs, life is good. People are great. That's all they've ever known and all they ever will know. And for some, people are scary and life is tough. For me... it's a little of both. I love people. I'm cuddly and affectionate and I really WANT to be everyone's friend. But I've learned from experience that dogs have to be careful. Not all people are safe. Sometimes, when they move too fast, I get scared and flinch and back away. I do know that there are a lot of good people in the world. People who won't hurt me, ever, no matter what. And I'm looking for one of those. Someone with a gentle soul. You probably want to know if I get along well with other animals and, like everything else... it's not a simple "yes" or "no." In the home I came from, I lived with another dog, cats, and pre-teen kids. But since coming to the shelter, I haven't wanted to be friends with any of the animals I've met. See what I mean about things not being black and white? What I do know for sure is that I'm a good boy. I'm going to be someone's "heart dog" for sure- the one they'll never forget. Are you the kind of person who can help a dog like me heal? Who can hold my paw when I get scared and teach me to expect a beautiful life? Come and meet me. Please. I need you. Please fill out the preliminary at odas.org/canine if you want to visit this youngster!

Story
My name is Harley and I'm ready to have the BEST. SUMMER. EVER! You might not think I look like a summer girl and... well... yes and no. I mean, obviously, I'm a husky. We're snow dogs. But THIS summer is different. Because this is the summer I'm going to find my FOR.EV.ER HOME! I can't wait to see what kind of adventures I'll have! The holidays I'll celebrate! I'm 8 years old, but I've still got plenty of wonderful things ahead. I'm an excellent dog- great house manners, friendly with strangers (I'm not real sure about little eye-level kids, but bigger kids and adults are all cool with me!), super-affectionate and cuddly... just everything you'd want in a best friend. I haven't made any animal friends since I've been in the shelter, but I came from a home with another dog and a cat, so... I'm not ruling it out entirely. I'd be great solo, though- just my human and me. Or my humans and me. I'd be perfect for someone who wants a dog who isn't too young, too little, or too out-of-control wild. I mean, I am a husky, so I've still got brains and energy and the capacity for stubbornness. But I'm an adult. What have you got planned for the summer? If it's "make a new best friend," I think I may have you covered! Just come out and meet me.

Story
This beautiful girl is Junebug.   Estimated to be 1-1-1/2 years old, will be 45-50 lbs when she's at her recommended weight. Junebug is very athletic & would love an active person/family.  She would make a great walking/running/hiking partner.  Her foster family runs her alongside their bikes nightly.  She loves people & dogs.  She would love to have another dog in the home to play with.  She is house trained, working on loving her kennel, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative & will be spayed prior to adoption. A secure yard or someone willing to supervise her in the yard is a must; she is a Husky after all. If interested in Junebug, please complete an application at sapamo-rescue.orgDecember 6, 2023, 11:26 am

Story
Sommar has been in foster for over a week now and so far she is the sweetest dog, super calm, loves sleeping. She seems to have medium energy unlike the average husky that can be very high energy. She is crate trained, she loves going in there even without being prompted to or anything it's like her little safe space. She hasn't shown any signs of being destructive if left alone out of it but we have never left her for too long though. She walks well on her leash, there is minimal pulling here and there. And she does love her walks, which she goes on daily and she will ask for them (starts whining by the door) by the evening if she hasn't gone out yet. She also loooves car rides. She knows a couple commands like "sit, speak, paw, lay down, and she listens for the most part when you tell her to do something. She loves snuggling with us on the couch and bed. She has been neutral to other dogs and children while out on walks but has not been formally introduced to either. She does like chasing the squirrels and birds we have around the house. She is super loving, loves being pet and being close to her fosters.
