FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Schroeder — Small Pup, Big Personality!🐾✨ Schroeder is a 1-year-old, 16 LB Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix who made his way to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA, and now he’s hoping to find his forever home right here in WA! This sweet, spotted little guy is full of charm. With his adorable ears, expressive puppy-dog eyes (yes, he’s already mastered the look), and confident leash strut, Schroeder is equal parts heart-stealer and adventure buddy. He’s smart, treat-motivated, and always ready to explore the world around him. Schroeder has done great with other dogs and loves to play, so he’d be thrilled to have a canine companion in the home to show him the ropes and keep him entertained. That said, he could also thrive as an only dog—as long as his adopters are committed to continuing his socialization and making sure he gets plenty of playtime with dog friends. He hasn’t been tested with cats or children yet. Schroeder is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, and he’s looking for a home that will embrace his curiosity, take him on adventures, and give him the love and structure to keep thriving. Schroeder is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Saint is a four year old jack Russel who is energetic and wonderful. He is a very good family dog and is friendly and warm towards anyone. I adopted saint when he was about a year old from a co-worker who wasn't doing well and was looking to give him to a shelter. He has been the best thing to happen to me in a longtime. He is very loving dog who would brighten anyone who comes near him. Unfortunately my current situation has made it hard for me to give him the love and care he deserves. Saint loves people more than anyone. He is great with children as well. I would like for him to find home with a family that he can be a part of.

Story
Ollie is a sweet and spirited 5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with a heart full of love and energy! He thrives in an active home where he has plenty of space to run, roam, and explore. Ollie lives for playtime and would be happiest with a family that can match his energy and enthusiasm for fun. He’s great with kids (especially small children!) and does well with other dogs, making him an awesome companion for families with young ones or other playful pups. He’s also a total lovebug who adores being pet and will happily snuggle up with you when it’s time to wind down & Ollie is an expert cuddler. That said, Ollie doesn’t do well with cats, so a cat-free home is a must. He’s the perfect mix of adventure and affection, and he’ll bring so much joy, laughter, and loyalty to the right home. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion with a big personality and even bigger heart, Ollie might be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Loke — shy, sensitive, and looking for a soft place to land. Loke is a tender little soul who’s still learning to feel safe in the world. She’s anxious and nervous right now, and will need a patient, understanding home to help her build confidence. She seems to find comfort in the company of other dogs, so we’re specifically looking for a home with a resident dog to help guide and reassure her. Potty training is very much a work in progress. Loke has not yet made the connection between walks and potty time—she tends to hold it in outside, then go once she’s back in her pen. Her routine is unpredictable for now, and she’s having regular accidents both inside the pen and in her crate. Her foster is giving her lots of love, baths, and clean bedding while she works through this phase. Loke is not a high-energy puppy; right now, she’s just focused on adjusting, observing, and learning to trust. She’ll need time, consistency, and a calm, compassionate home ready to meet her where she is. If you’re looking to give a gentle dog the chance to grow at her own pace, Loke may be the one who quietly steals your heart. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.

Story
Hi there I’m Nala,I am a mature, self-confident dog who would love to find a forever home. I live now with other dogs who I love to play with, cats who I respect and play with if they want to, and kids who like to pet me. I have not had much experience with toys, but I do love a good game of tug. I like to be active, but I am good to just chill out with you too. Nothing like an evening of cuddling with the family to make my day complete.I like car rides, I don’t get sick, and I stay calm. My foster says I make a great co-pilot. I am learning basic commands like sit and stay but I will need some work with that. I love to walk and when we do I stay close to my foster and walk at their pace. If it sounds like we would be a good fit, then just fill in the application and we can meet on a Zoom call.Just waiting for you.NalaThis dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.

Story
Meet Monty Age: 2 years Weight: 9kg Height: 33cm (shoulder height) Breed: Terrier mix Color: Black, Brown, and White Sex: Neutered Male   Rescue Story Monty was rescued from a high-risk city shelter just in time before euthanasia. He’s now safe and waiting for a forever home filled with love and fun! With People Monty is a total lovebug! He’s affectionate not only with people he knows but also with strangers, happily rubbing against them and allowing pets. He’s comfortable being picked up by placing arms under his belly, and sometimes even flops onto his back, asking for belly rubs — even with new people. He’s great with men and though he hasn’t met children under 13, his playful and cheeky personality suggests he’d thrive in a home with active kids. With Other Dogs Monty is super social and loves meeting other dogs — even strangers. He often approaches other dogs with enthusiasm and playfulness, sometimes a bit too eagerly. While he’s not afraid of larger dogs and remains confident even when scolded by them, his overly friendly nature can come off as pushy. He may clash occasionally with dogs that share his high energy or dislike physical closeness. He might react if provoked, so introductions to new dogs should be done with care. He’s best matched with dogs that enjoy his playful energy. With Cats Monty shows curiosity when he sees cats during walks but doesn’t fixate or pull excessively. He can be redirected easily and follows his handler’s lead. Cat testing is possible if needed. Energy Level Monty has slightly above-average energy. As long as he gets regular outdoor activities, he settles down well afterward and enjoys resting calmly. On Walks He’s an experienced walker — he doesn’t pull on the leash and follows his person well. He’s more interested in sniffing than walking in a straight line, so his walks often involve a lot of stop-and-go as he explores the world through his nose. Other Behavior Monty doesn’t guard food from humans, but he may growl if another dog approaches while he’s eating. However, he listens when corrected and doesn’t escalate if a person intervenes. He doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, but he dislikes confinement — if left in a kennel or enclosed area, he may bark. Families who plan to leave him alone may need to work on crate training. Monty also has some demand barking when he wants something, but he’s generally quiet when being transported in a kennel or car. Monty is full of personality and love. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, and sociable companion who brings both energy and affection into your life — Monty may just be your perfect match!
