Meet Buddy and Holly! This brother and sister pair have had a tough time lately: their longtime owner passed away and they got locked out of the home for several days before a kindly neighbor stepped in and got them to us. Poor things have been through it! Even so, you won't meet a friendlier pair. They are people lovers through and through and will compete for your attention. We don't know much about them otherwise, though we estimate they're about four years old. Their exact breed is anyone's guess. We just know they need a home! Story
Meet Loke — curious, sensitive, and looking for a soft place to land. Formerly shy, but becoming bolder by the day. Loke is an attentive and active household member. She is eager to hop on your work calls, distract you with a toy squeak or alert you of the slightest door closing. She’s a tender little soul who’s still learning personal boundaries with her humans and fellow dogs. She’s a little anxious and nervous, but also keenly curious! She will need a patient, and experienced home to build confidence and redirect her inquisitive energy. She is quick to learn new tricks and exists happily with other dogs. We expect with the proper training, she would thrive as an outdoorsy dog, or in the world of agility! Loke’s potty training has made a lot of progress but she still has the occasional accident inside. Her foster is giving her lots of love, and consistent bathroom breaks while she works through this phase. Loke is a high-energy and intelligent dog who is learning to be confident and walk on a leash. Her foster started training basic commands to help hone in her energy. She’s learned sit, come, and down already. She’ll need time, consistency, and a calm home to meet her where she is while helping her explore new tricks! If you’re looking for an active dog who also needs a slow and steady home to build their confidence, Loke may be the one who quietly steals your heart. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.

Story
Meet Hiro   Name: Hiro Age: 5 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Jack Russell Mix Color: Brown Weight: 12.5 kg Height: 41 cm   Rescue Story   Hiro was rescued from a municipal shelter at the end of 2023.   When Hiro first arrived at the private shelter, he would occasionally grab onto clothing when he became overly excited or happy. It was determined to be playful behavior rather than aggression, and after over a year of consistent training, this behavior is now very rare.   Because of this, Hiro has spent over a year in professional training focused on impulse control, obedience, and handling skills He has made tremendous progress and now only shows this behavior very rarely (about once every few months). These days, he is much more likely to express affection through cuddling and leaning into people instead   He has also earned a Dog Fitness Level 3 certification with his trainer   ‍‍‍ Socialization with People   Hiro absolutely loves people He is affectionate with strangers, men, children, and familiar people alike. He loves cuddling, climbing into laps, showing his belly, and being close to his humans   He can be picked up comfortably and enjoys physical affection. While he is very sweet-natured, he is also energetic, playful, strong, and intelligent — very typical of a Jack Russell mix   Because of his playful intensity and energy level, Hiro would do best with an adopter who understands active working-type breeds and can continue providing structure, boundaries, and mental stimulation   Socialization with Other Dogs   Hiro is social and friendly with other dogs and enjoys greeting and playing with unfamiliar dogs However, people are always his priority.   He especially enjoys playing with dogs similar to or larger than his size. Smaller dogs do not interest him much. If another dog behaves rudely, Hiro may give an appropriate warning, but he has never fought with another dog.   He enjoys social time but is also perfectly happy relaxing alone in the sun after playtime   Cats   Cat testing has not yet been done, but can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Hiro has bursts of high energy and loves active play, but after about 30 minutes of exercise he usually settles nicely and relaxes.   He especially enjoys training and learning new things, so mental enrichment and structured activities are very important for him   Walks   Hiro is very experienced on walks and generally walks well. However, he is smart and tends to test handlers at first. If boundaries are unclear, he may pull or try to make his own decisions.   With calm but firm leadership and structure before walks, he listens very well and becomes an excellent walking companion   Other Behaviors   Hiro does not guard food or toys from people or other dogs He has no separation anxiety and is calm in a kennel.   He may bark excitedly when greeting people he loves, especially when his owner returns home   He rides very well in the car, can jump in and out on his own, and is currently outdoor potty trained   Hiro is an affectionate, intelligent, funny, and active dog who forms strong bonds with people He would thrive in a home that appreciates the lively personality and clever mind of a Jack Russell mix while continuing to provide structure, exercise, and love. Name: Lime ***CURRENTLY IN VANCOUVER!!! Age: 2 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Terrier Mix Color: Black / Brown / White Weight: 7.5 kg Height (shoulder): 40 cm   Rescue Story Lime was rescued from a municipal shelter.   Personality & Socialization   With People ‍‍‍: Lime tends to bark at new people at first — not so much out of fear, but more like a habit (similar to a yard dog alerting to newcomers). She is very vocal initially, but this settles quickly once she becomes familiar.   Within just a few days, she transforms into a cuddly, affectionate companion who loves attention   Once comfortable, Lime enjoys being close to her people — she will nuzzle between your legs, ask for pets from anyone she trusts, and happily show her belly She can also be picked up comfortably by supporting her belly.   With Other Dogs : Lime is friendly and social with other dogs, both familiar and new. She approaches politely, initiates play, and gets along well regardless of size.   She generally avoids conflict and will walk away if another dog is pushy. While she enjoys social time, she is also independent and relaxes well on her own.   With Cats : Not yet tested, but can be assessed upon request.   Energy Level : Low energy. Lime enjoys calm environments and prefers lounging and relaxing She also likes playing independently with toys.   Additional Notes :   No food guarding No separation anxiety Calm and well-mannered Crate trained Outdoor potty trained ‍ Minimal demand barking   Note: Lime’s main challenge is her initial barking at unfamiliar people. With a bit of patience during introductions, she warms up quickly and becomes very affectionate Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Under AKR Custody Review (Adoption temporarily on hold pending resolution of foster situation) Currently in Vancouver!!! Name: Mongmong Age: 4 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: JRT (Jack Russell Terrier) Mix Color: Black, tan, and white Weight: 9.5 kg (20.9 lbs) Height (at shoulder): 32 cm (12.6 inches)   Mongmong is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves people — whether you’re a familiar friend or someone he’s just met, he’ll happily come over for pets and attention. He’s especially gentle with young children and is comfortable being picked up with arms under his belly. Once he warms up, he’ll even show you his belly! He’s curious about other dogs and will approach them to say hello, though he doesn’t typically engage in play. Gentle with cats, not much interest in them. Mongmong has a moderate energy level and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, but settles down calmly afterward. He’s well-behaved on leash, doesn’t pull, and follows his human companion nicely. He is not food aggressive and remains calm in a kennel or during car rides. Mongmong was found injured, likely from a car accident, and was at risk of euthanasia at a municipal shelter. After being rescued, Mongmong had one eye removed due to phthisis bulbi, a condition that caused his eye to shrink and lose function and had hernia surgery on 25.05.01-but he’s recovered beautifully and is now ready for a fresh start Mongmong is a brave little survivor with a heart full of love. He’s looking for a forever home where he can feel safe, cherished, and loved — could that be with you? Story
Animal Profile: Hugo is a 2-year-old, 13-pound Rat Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a small frame! This cheerful little guy is full of spunk and loves to play, whether it’s with big dogs, small dogs, or anyone ready for some fun. Sadly, Hugo found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space. But despite it all, he never lost his happy spirit or wagging tail. His playful energy and friendly nature shine through in every interaction. Foster Update:  This spirited 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix joined our rescue last November and has been making impressive progress ever since. Early on, Hugo showed some bitey behaviors around handling and resources he wasn’t ready to share, but with the help of a dedicated foster team and professional training, he’s come a long way. Hugo has spent several months working with a balanced trainer and has really thrived. He loves learning, enjoys training sessions, and is always up for playtime. He’s an active, outgoing little guy who would do best with someone who can continue to engage both his body and mind. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and rides well in the car. Hugo can be a bit vocal when he gets excited and definitely has a touch of FOMO, he likes to be part of the action! He warms up quickly to new people and enjoys making new friends. Hugo is looking for an adult-only home with experienced dog owners who understand how to provide structure and consistency. To set everyone up for success, his trainer will offer a go-home lesson and follow-up support to help ease the transition. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/13 via START. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.May 24, 2026, 6:12 pm
