Harry and Eleanor?? Such SERIOUS names for a couple of goofy pups! We came from a somewhat sad and seriously MESSED up place but now we may be a little shy but we are definitely NOT SERIOUS :) We are JRT/Rat Terrier mixed siblings, each of us is cute and loving in our own right. Under 15# of absolute adorableness is who we are. We are both still a little nervous, I mean we came from a pretty horrific situation so know that we were not handled and loved on until the last month or so in our foster home... but we are learning so much and having a blast! We are great together but do not have to be adopted together. We will need at least another dog with us to show us the ropes and keep us company in our new family. We are good with everyone so that will be pretty easy :) Look one of us up and ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!!! SO MANY LIVES' DEPEND ON IT!! Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $600 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Hi, I am Shadow,They say that black dogs have a harder time getting adopted. I am not sure why because I think black is beautiful. I am an adult around 4 years old. I have lost all that puppy naughtiness, but I still love to play and cuddle and generally be a good girl. I will need some patience because I have a lot to learn when it comes to even the basics, but I am a quick study. Oh, and treats usually help with the learning. I am an active dog who would love to go for a good run every day. If you are a hiker, I think I would love that too. I am good with leash walking; I try not to pull and stay close to you. I like to play with other dogs once I am properly introduced. I haven’t been around children much and cats are made to be chased. Only my opinion! Right now, I spend most of my time outside because my foster mom works, but when I am inside, I know not to do any business in the house that is only for outside.I haven’t had many toys, I am content with a stick or a plastic bottle. Maybe you could teach me to chase a ball and bring it back to you. That would be fun!If it sounds like we could be a family together then just fill out the application and we can meet on a Zoom call.Could I be your little,Shadow To get more information go to https://hope4lapawz.org/adopt and click on the dog's photo. Story
Handsome 10-year-old Jax will make an excellent companion to the person or persons who can help him feel safe. A purebred rat terrier weighing 25 lbs., Jax has been working on reducing his anxiety, which was likely caused by the discomfort of skin allergies, a manifestation of a cancerous mast cell tumor. With the tumor removed and Jax cancer free for over one year, his skin issues are now under control (although he must still avoid food containing chicken). Today Jax is a much happier dog, who likes sunning himself and also walking, jogging, and playing ball; physical activity, in turn, helps further reduce any residual anxiety. With proper introduction, Jax will even play nicely with new dogs, more quickly enjoying the company of smaller dogs, especially females. However, he can scuffle with any dog who ignores his body language or doesn't respect his space. He could easily be a single dog or live with one other dog who is independent or who at least honors boundaries. Due to his moderate prey drive, Jax shouldn't live with cats or other small pets.   Jax adjusts to new routines well and sticks close to his humans. He loves to cuddle but isn't really a lapdog. He's polite around new people if they're introduced in a positive way. However, he hates being picked up, and he'll defend that sentiment with his teeth and wouldn't enjoy being around children. Although he's no fan of crates, it's not really an issue, as he has impeccable house manners. He has never had an indoor potty accident, 'emptied' the trash, or counter surfed. Life has given this good boy a sensitive soul. If you nurture it, Jax will give you his heart. See more photos of Jax at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/jax .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
Quiet, cautious Charmy is so sweet once she trusts you! With time and space to get to know you, she'll become your loyal friend. Found as a stray with her sister and her presumed mom, 6-lb. Charmy looks like a puppy, but she's believed to be around 1-2 years old. For such a tiny thing, she has a streak of independence and will sit alone and explore in the yard by herself. This rattie mix likes spending time with her sister, and she tolerates being around the other dogs. Favorite activities are snuggling in the lap of her person and gobbling up any food that comes her way. In fact, she can become somewhat possessive of resources to the point of growling and snapping at any dogs who venture too close to her 'prizes,' even if it's just a spot of real estate on your bed.    Charmy walks fairly well on a leash,  but can pull in spite of her tiny size. She loves meeting new people and dogs and will then usually return to her own business unless she decides to follow the lead of her sister, Cherish, who clamors for attention. She does bark and strain at the leash upon seeing cats or small animals, so she might be better in a home without cats.  And needless to say, her size precludes her living with small children or anyone who can't handle her gently.   Charmy is on the right path with house-training; accidents only occur when she can't get outdoors quickly enough. She has decent indoor manners; she doesn't chew on furniture or bark a lot, and she sleeps quietly through the night (in YOUR bed of course). If you need to limit access to rooms, know that she can climb over any mesh or perforated barriers. Likewise, if you're driving with her, she must be safely tethered or crated, as she'll use her monkey-like agility to get to your lap! Yes, it may take bit of work to help this sweet, slightly impish sprite become a polished young lady, but you'll be charmed by the result! Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. NewRattitude.org/adopt/  From there, you can access our adoption application or contact our Adoption Team for more info. April 25, 2024, 1:00 pm
