Story

Leon is a 6-year-old, 45lb doodle mix male. He is the size of a Labrador Retriever. He was at the shelter where he came in as a stray. They treated him there for an ear infection and some mild skin inflammation which he has long recovered from. We did notice cloudiness in both eyes and were diagnosed with cataracts. Surgery was done to remove them and has recovered well but will need 3 different eye drops for life. He can be very playful with other playful dogs and loves to play fetch, or, can cuddle up next to you just as well. Walks are his favorite activity. He is also good with calm, friendly smaller dogs. He has not been around cats. With children, he does better with 12 years and older. Leon becomes attached to his human and will follow them like a shadow. He can be a little stubborn and will growl and snap at times when disciplined or if bumped while sleeping. He has been adopted twice and returned for this reason. Once he is comfortable in his new home, he will do it less. He may have separation anxiety at 1st, but with time and patience, he gets over it. He does better with a furry companion. He just needs someone to give him a chance. We believe he would do good in a house with a big yard, another playful dog, or an experienced, active family. Smokey arrived with his housemate Missy II (not in this photo) on 11/04/23 when they were informally surrendered by their owner after being taken to a neighboring shelter claiming they were stray dogs they found... only for it to be discovered the very same people claiming they were strays are owners on both their microchips. Smokey is a senior 13 year old Labrador Retriever that has some mild hind leg / mobility issues and a large fluid-like mass on the left side of his chest a little bigger than a soda can. If you are interested in one of our dogs, please complete an application on line at www.ahome4everrescue.org Bradley is the sweetest, well-mannered, loving 4 year old male miniature poodle you will ever meet.  He is so appreciative of any attention.   Bradley was rescued from a high kill shelter and because he has subluxated patellas on both of his back legs and he will require orthopedic surgery.   A Home 4 Ever is raising money to pay for this $5000 surgery and also looking for a foster who will care for him after surgery.   He is an amazing dog who will bring years of joy to his future family.   If you are interested in helping Bradley with either donations, as a foster, or an adopter, please complete an application on line at www.ahome4everrescue.org.  --- Come meet our dogs on Saturdays at PetSmart in Costa Mesa from 11:30-2:30.
