*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Drake is loving life in his foster home, but now it’s time for him to find his furever family… We rescued Drake back in 2020. He is a 7 year old pup now and we guess he is a labradoodle mix. He was adopted a few years ago but recently, instead of contacting us to surrender the Drake back to us when they were unable to keep him, the adopter brought him to the shelter. Not only did they bring him to the shelter, they told the shelter to EUTHANIZE HIM!! Why? Because he is reactive/ doesn’t get along with small dogs, something they knew when they adopted him. Thankfully we were notified and able to get him back into our care quickly. He has been doing so well in foster and deserves to finally find the right people. Drake is a big boy (100+ pounds, but does need to lose some weight) and loves cuddles. He greatly enjoys long walks and car rides. He is super smart and food motivated. Drake is a go with the flow dude who just wants people to love. He would be best as the only animal in the home and with people committed to managing his reactivity. He is very easy to redirect with treats and will thrive with the right people. Drake is currently being fostered in Santa Monica, California area but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. *PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org . Beppo was an owner surrender to a high kill shelter in a really bad area. He was well cared for, but the owner decided he just didn't want the responsibility. I'm so happy we were able to get him because the shelters have zero criteria for screening possible homes. Beppo is a fantastic, well behaved playful and happy boy. He is fostered with another doodle and having the time of his life. He would do best in an active home w/ boundaries and leadership. He would do wonderful as a hiking pal and a dog park player. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Duncan was adopted in October 2025. He is an amazing boy and is teachable. He gets along well with our 13 year old Golden Retriever but does not do well with small dogs. He has a lot of behavioral needs such as constant barking at people walking by the house, chewing on table legs from boredom, and can't be off leash out in public. He is a sweet boy and knows basic commands such as Sit, Stay, Come but will not follow commands unless you have a specific treat or he is alone. He needs a lot of exercise as 3.5 miles of walks a day is not enough. We are only rehoming him because we do not have the space in the small home for him to get his energy out and this is not fair to him. He needs a loving family and a big yard to run and protect you from all the squirrels. With the proper time and training, Duncan will be the best dog you have ever had, unfortunately we just do not have that time and space available for him right now. He deserves more than we can currently offer.
