*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Drake is loving life in his foster home, but now it’s time for him to find his furever family… We rescued Drake back in 2020. He is a 7 year old pup now and we guess he is a labradoodle mix. He was adopted a few years ago but recently, instead of contacting us to surrender the Drake back to us when they were unable to keep him, the adopter brought him to the shelter. Not only did they bring him to the shelter, they told the shelter to EUTHANIZE HIM!! Why? Because he is reactive/ doesn’t get along with small dogs, something they knew when they adopted him. Thankfully we were notified and able to get him back into our care quickly. He has been doing so well in foster and deserves to finally find the right people. Drake is a big boy (100+ pounds, but does need to lose some weight) and loves cuddles. He greatly enjoys long walks and car rides. He is super smart and food motivated. Drake is a go with the flow dude who just wants people to love. He would be best as the only animal in the home and with people committed to managing his reactivity. He is very easy to redirect with treats and will thrive with the right people. Drake is currently being fostered in Santa Monica, California area but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. *PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org . This sweet girl was found tied to a fence on a street corner by my son. She was matted, dirty, cold, and hungry. We believe she’s around 4 years old. When my son removed the rope from her neck, her personality instantly came out… she started running around, wagging her tail, and showing how happy she was to be free. Despite what she’s been through, she is incredibly gentle, loving, and trusting. We’ve since bathed and shaved her, and she is so much happier and more comfortable now. She loves to play, cuddle, and be close to people. She does great with other dogs and people and has a very sweet, affectionate nature. She is not potty trained yet, so she’ll need a patient home willing to help her learn, but she is eager to please and responds well to kindness. We would truly love to find her a safe, loving forever home where she can thrive and be loved. Please reach out if you think you might be the right fit for this special girl.

Jaxs is a very energetic, playful, and sweet 1 year old (birthday is in November) Lab Mix that was originally adopted from a kill shelter in Northern California. He does well with kids (I have four) and has never been aggressive. As mentioned above, he is very energetic though and definitely needs a new owner that knows how to handle a larger dog that needs a lot of time, attention, love, and training to have Jaxs become the best version of himself. He loves to play, loves being outdoors in the grass, loves being inside, loves his weekly bone, and loves being pet/loved on. I do not believe Jaxs would be best with another dog or animal at this time. I do believe he needs a lot more training and time before it would be known if he could behave well around other animals. A new home would need to be able to provide the time, attention, and love, along with really good training/trainer for Jaxs. I would prefer for a new home to have a backyard, but is not an absolute must.
