Story
How this pet arrived: Orion was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on June 27, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Orion - a bright young star just waiting for the right constellation to guide him home! Found as a stray, Orion's early story is a bit of a mystery, but what's clear is that this celestial cutie is ready to shine with a patient, understanding family. Orion can feel a little eclipsed by new faces and unfamiliar places, so he'll do best in a calm, predictable home (no kiddos under 12) where he can build confidence at his own pace. When Orion starts to feel safe, his energy skyrockets - expect zoomies, enthusiastic trail-sniffing on long walks, and a dog who loves affection so much he'll happily roll over for belly rubs. Like many young stars, Orion sometimes burns a little too bright. When he's excited or overstimulated, he may jump up and mouth especially during greetings or high-energy moments. He'll thrive with adopters who are ready to help him learn calmer ways to shine through positive reinforcement, structure, and slow, thoughtful introductions. With the right guidance, Orion's brilliance will only grow. Come speak with an adoption counselor today and see if this starry boy is the one meant to light up your universe! Excitable Dog: Orion requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 56 Age: 2yrs 6mths 1wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Trigger was brought in by a Humane Law Enforcement on November 7, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Trigger, a distinguished senior pup with soft eyes and a greying muzzle that will melt your heart. This gentle senior has perfected the art of taking it easy - he's mellow, sweet-natured, and always ready for a leisurely stroll around the block. Trigger loves his walks and will happily accompany you wherever you go, wagging his tail the entire way. He's the kind of dog who thrives on quiet companionship and simple joys - a cozy nap by your side, a few gentle ear scratches, and the comfort of being near his people. Trigger doesn't seem to love being left entirely alone, and is looking for a home with another dog that can keep him company. A recent X-ray showed evidence of arthritis in Trigger's spine. He may need medication in the future to help manage this condition, and we recommend following up with your veterinarian. If you're looking for a loyal, low-key companion who will fill your home with calm and affection, Trigger may be the perfect match. He's ready to enjoy his golden years in a caring home where he can be cherished for the wonderful dog he is. At SDHS:Trigger has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Trigger is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 70.4 Age: 12yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Choco was brought in by his previous owner on December 30, 2025. Why Choco is the one for you:Choco is a sweet, charming boy with a heart as rich as his name. He may be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe and understood, we hope his true personality shines. Choco can be fearful and reactive in certain situations, especially around novel people (particularly men), large dogs, or when he's feeling protective of his home space. That said, once he's outside and given space, he shows lovely affiliative behavior. He does best with consistent positive reinforcement, patience, and thoughtful environmental management to help him avoid his triggers. Treats and time are the fastest way to his heart-he warms up beautifully when allowed to investigate at his own pace. Because Choco thrives in calm environments, he would be happiest in a lower-traffic home with a safe, cozy retreat where he can decompress when the world feels like too much. Choco has lived successfully with two other small dogs. Due to a past attack by a large dog, he is now reactive toward large dogs and should not live with or regularly encounter large dogs. Choco likes to chase cats, so he will need a home with no cats and no small prey-like animals. If you're ready to offer him space, snacks, and a soft place to land, Choco just might be your perfect match. At SDHS:Choco has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Choco is now ready for his new home!Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Copper Secondary Color: White Weight: 37.6 Age: 5yrs 8mths 3wks
