******Please note, once you complete the initial screening, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks, and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Jafar, estimated age 1 year, neutered male, Labrador retriever mix at 36lbs. He is in Houston, Texas and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Jafar is a lovable, medium-energy puppy with an incredibly soft coat and an equally gentle heart. He’s fantastic with dogs of all sizes and has a respectful and friendly play style. His polite tail wag and single greeting bark make him a hit with canine friends both on and off leash. With people, he’s a bit more reserved; he wasn’t well-socialized early on, so strangers can be overwhelming at first. But with patience and a calm introduction, he warms up and shows his affectionate, cuddly personality. Because he can get a little mouthy when excited, he’s better suited to a home with older children. On walks, Jafar stays close and doesn’t pull, though he does have a tendency to zigzag his way along, taking in everything around him. At home, he’s still working on potty training and has an occasional accident, and the crate isn’t his favorite place, though he’s crated when left alone and during meal times. He shares toys well and loves playing with them, even if they don’t always survive his enthusiasm. He has also learned how to sit on command. Jafar would do best in a moderately active home with another friendly, confident dog to help boost his confidence on walks and help him feel brave in new places. His foster would adopt him in a heartbeat if her home wasn’t already full, which says everything about the wonderful dog he’s becoming. Jafar is a wonderful puppy with tons of potential. He’s sweet, dog-friendly, and cuddly. Yes, he’s still learning the basics and building confidence—but he’s worth every minute. If you’re looking for a pup who will grow into an amazing companion with your guidance, Jafar is ready to meet you… from a respectful distance at first, of course. If you are interested in adding Jafar into your family, please fill out the adoption application below! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Lilly — Your Adventure Buddy, Couch Companion, and Loyal Shadow All in One Lilly is a 7-year-old spayed female Labrador Retriever mix, weighing in at a perfect 45 lbs. She’s currently being fostered in Houston, TEXAS, and can transport out of state once matched with an approved adopter! Lilly’s story nearly ended too soon — she was on the euthanasia list at a crowded Houston shelter simply due to lack of space. Thankfully, her amazing foster mom stepped up just in time, and Lilly has been showing her gratitude with tail wags, kisses, and love ever since. Don’t let her age fool you — Lilly still has plenty of pep in her step and absolutely lives for playtime! She’s a big fan of tug-of-war with rope toys, chasing balls in the yard, and going on long, sniff-filled walks. If you're looking for a dog to join you on outdoor adventures and then snuggle up for a cozy movie night, Lilly is your girl. She’s a beautiful mix of independent and affectionate—happy to explore and follow her nose, but always eager to be near her people. Her foster family describes her as curious, loyal, sweet, and a certified cuddle bug. She's been lovingly nicknamed a "velcro dog" thanks to how closely she likes to stick by her humans. Lilly lives with another dog in her foster home and does well with canine companions, though her true joy comes from human interaction. She’ll happily greet you with kisses and tail wags—and she even offers those kisses to other dogs she meets on walks. (Though between us, her real focus is usually on squirrel-spotting!) She’s also cat-experienced and has shown she can be redirected when her interest in the resident feline gets a little too intense. While she hasn’t been tested with children, her loving nature and gentle demeanor suggest she’d likely do well with respectful older kids. Lilly is both crate-trained and potty-trained, and she’s incredibly polite in the home—she’ll even tap the door to let you know when she needs to go out. She does best when fed separately from other dogs, as she prefers to keep her meals to herself, but has no issues with people near her food. Her ideal home? One that’s moderately active, with access to the outdoors and humans who are around often—because nothing makes Lilly happier than being your loyal shadow. Whether you have another pup or she’s your one-and-only, she’ll thrive in a home where she’s included in your daily rhythm and given plenty of time to play, explore, and snuggle. With all the perks of a mature dog (hello, house-trained!) and the heart of a playful pup, Lilly truly offers the best of both worlds. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply to adopt Lilly today and let her joyful spirit brighten your life. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Story
Meet Cassidy – A Loyal and Happy Lab/Collie/Shepherd Mix! DOB: 10/3/2022 | Weight: 76 pounds | Female Cassidy is a stunning Lab/Collie/Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At 3 years old, she’s in the prime of her life—healthy, energetic, and full of love to give. Cassidy is known for her loyal spirit and happy demeanor. She absolutely adores her people, and with her affectionate nature, she’ll make a wonderful companion for an active and dedicated family. Breed Info: A mix of Labrador Retriever, Collie, and Shepherd, Cassidy combines intelligence, energy, and devotion. These breeds are known for their trainability and loyalty, but also for needing structure, exercise, and mental stimulation. Cassidy is a great candidate for agility work, hiking adventures, or simply being your best buddy in life. Special Notes: Cassidy is a spirited girl who loves to explore! She does have a talent for jumping fences, so she will require a home with a very secure, tall fence (or someone committed to leash walks and supervised play). She is currently enrolled in a basic training course and making wonderful progress. Continued training will be key to helping her thrive and channel her energy in positive ways. ‍‍ Owner Responsibilities: Cassidy’s new family will need to: Provide daily exercise and playtime. Continue with her training to reinforce good manners. Ensure a secure environment to keep her safe. Offer patience, structure, and plenty of love. &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider: Cassidy is best suited for an active household that can keep up with her energy. Landlords and property owners should be checked if you rent, as breed restrictions sometimes apply. Families should be prepared for her enthusiasm—she may not be best for homes with toddlers, but will love older children. The 3-3-3 Rule: Remember the adjustment period: 3 days to decompress. 3 weeks to learn your routine. 3 months to fully feel at home. Vet Care: Once adopted, getting Cassidy to your vet is important for a checkup and to establish ongoing care. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Why Cassidy Will Be a Great Addition: Cassidy isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for her forever partner. She has all the qualities of a best friend: loyal, protective, playful, and loving. With her happy spirit and willingness to learn, she’ll bring joy and companionship to the right home. She will thrive with someone who sees her spirited energy not as a challenge but as part of her charm. Cassidy is ready to love and be loved—could she be the one for you? Story
Meet Gorda – Your Gentle Companion Basic Info: Name: Gorda Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever Mix Sex: Female DOB: April 10, 2024 Weight: 45 lbs Intake Date: April 9, 2024 Personality – Shy But Sweet: Gorda is a soft-hearted soul who starts off a little shy but quickly warms up to kind voices and gentle touches. Once she feels safe, her tail starts to wag and her eyes light up with affection. She enjoys quiet companionship, slow introductions, and belly rubs from those she trusts. Gorda is the perfect blend of calm and cuddly—ideal for a home that can offer patience, peace, and love. Breed Information: As a Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever mix, Gorda combines the best of both breeds. Pit Bulls are known for their loyalty, strength, and intelligence, while Labradors are famously friendly, social, and eager to please. This mix often results in a devoted, affectionate companion who thrives with structure and positive reinforcement. Gorda will benefit from daily exercise, enrichment activities, and ongoing socialization. Owner Responsibilities: Provide regular vet care, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and a balanced diet Daily exercise like walks, playtime, or backyard fun Mental stimulation through toys, training, and social experiences Time, patience, and consistency to help build her confidence A safe, secure home environment with supervision and boundaries Positive training methods (no harsh punishment-based approaches) Commitment for Life: When you adopt Gorda, you’re promising to be her safe place for the rest of her life. Through every stage—puppy, adult, and senior—she deserves your loyalty and love. This commitment means never abandoning her due to lifestyle changes, moving, or other temporary setbacks. Gorda will return your lifelong devotion tenfold. Do Not Leash Your Dog Outside Unattended: Gorda should never be tethered or left outside alone. Gorda belongs with you, safely inside and part of your family. Why Adopt Gorda? Gorda is more than a pretty face—she’s a dog waiting for someone to see the beauty in her gentle heart.
