Story
Miles was originally rescued in Tennessee as a puppy due to a hoarding situation. He was adopted by me and my son in August 2023. Unfortunately, due to job loss I am being forced to sell my home and move in with family. I am unable to take this boy with us and it is heartbreaking. Miles needs to be in a home with a yard that he can run. He spends a lot of time outside and prefers to be outdoors whenever possible. He is wonderful with children but I would recommend the child be at least 5 and experienced with dogs. Miles is extremely loving and gets very excited (we have been working on his jumping). He is crate trained, and fully house broken. He loves to chew and has many toys that he loves to play with! He is 1 year old, UTD on all vaccines until August 2024. All of his items including his crate will be provided. We are heartbroken to part with our boy but we want him to have the best home.

Story
We rescued Khloe a little over a year ago and she's a very sweet girl, loves to snuggle, has a ton of energy and is a really great companion. She has food aggression issues that have led to her biting if you attempt to get the food back from her. With two little children in our home, we've decided Khloe just isn't a great fit for our family. I do not recommend a home with children or other cats/dogs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Leeda is a sweet sweet soul.  She absolutely LOVES the outside!!!  She is content to wander around the fields all day long!  She would be perfect for someone who has a large fenced yard where she can roam to her hearts content.  She loves people!RequirementsLarge Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 2, 2024, 12:27 pm

Story
Roxy is a very sweet & loving senior lab/beagle mix. She is at least 11, as she was "at least 3 or 4" when we adopted her. Great with cats, dogs, and kids, but can get overstimulated and a little rambunctious. She came from an abusive home prior to her time with us, and has minor food guarding issues. Eating in her crate away from other pets has had no issues. Crate trained and house trained, but has recently developed minor bladder issues. Small leaks throughout the day, but the vet ran a series of tests and found nothing wrong. We just cannot afford to try all the meds for her. Leash-trained with a harness, but still has prey impulses. She is on a prescription diet due to tummy troubles in the past, but the vet could not confirm if this is actually needed and could likely come off it with a new vet's insight. - Shots were up-to-date Dec '23, but now needs a few to catch up. - She is on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives - Shows signs of allergies, but has not been tested

Story
Sonny is a rescue who is a very sweet dog. He loves to chew on his toys and is very loving towards his "mom" and a good dog with her grandchildren. He is motivated by food and follows many of mom's commands. He does take a pill each day for anxiety which I think is a result of where he was rescued from. The only reason we are needing to rehome him is that he is afraid of his "dad" for a reason we have never been able to figure out. We thought he would be afraid of other men, but he is not. This situation has not gotten any better with some of the remedies we have tried. He barks constantly at his dad when he enters a room and especially when he is near his mom. He is good with other dogs and seems to love to chase squirrels, bunnies and birds!! He does have a lot of energy and would benefit from a fenced in yard and/or someone who would commit to walking him every day.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.9/16/23 Still available 4/24/23 Still available!    3/14/23 Could this guy be any cuter?? Here’s what his foster mom says about him-  Dale (40 lbs) was taken in from a bad situation, along with his brother Dink (35 pounds), in May 2022, along with many other dogs. The owner failed to spay and neuter his dogs, but seemed to keep most all of the puppies. There were so many dogs living there. We were contacted when he was being evicted and wasn’t taking any of the dogs with him. They were very shy upon intake, but have made tremendous progress! Dale LOVES to play! He loves running around in the yard and playing with his toys and other dogs. We would love to see him go to a home with another dog for him to play with. He is good with older kids, might be a little too rambunctious around small children. Not aggressive in any way, he just might accidentally knock little ones over. He enjoys cuddling, especially with my son in his bed at night. He is not completely housebroken, but he does use the pads inside during storms, etc. Working on the leash, he'd much rather run! Not cat tested. His breed is anyone’s guess! He kind of looks like a shrunken Lab! Dale was heartworm positive on intake but he's been treated and is now ready to find his forever home! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am FridaysPort Jervis, NJ 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/21269094523905 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
We got Pig 4 years ago when my friends AKC gsp got tied by her neighbors Cavapoo. She was a singleton puppy with no litter mates. The mom rejected her so I took her as a favor. She is very smart and wants to be outside bc she has a high prey drive. I didn’t know that much about the breed. She is GSP through and through. To be with an experienced handler who hunts would be ideal. Vet check and references will be required. Must have a fenced in yard
