Story
Bessie is a 2 year old fox red lab. We got her when I was pregnant and since having my son we have found it difficult to give her the attention and time she needs. She has never been aggressive though she is reactive. When she was a puppy she lived with 2 other dogs and a cat though I am unsure how she would do with new ones now. She does great with kids though she does jump so she needs to be watched well around small children. She has done well with my son since he was a newborn and has never had any issues, he can give her treats without us worrying. She is a good dog but needs a trainer, which isn’t possible for us financially right now. Once she is used to you she is very sweet and lovey and loves to lay with people. She is up to date on shots, purebred, and akc registered. We are sad to see her go but understand it is better for her to be with someone who can give her more time and attention.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/27/26 Introducing our 'Sweets' Our third little piece of yummy goodness is Licorice. Her beautiful black coat fits her name, and she's wearing fantastic white ankle socks. Licorice is one of the largest ones of the litter. She tends to be a little shy, but she is so full of love. This little litter was born to a stray who took up residence in someone's garage to try to keep her babies safe. Mom is a black lab (maybe mixed with Weimeraner?). She is very shy and timid. We brought mom and babies into rescue when babies were about 3-4 weeks old. They are now about 6-7 weeks old. These babies are so beautiful and sweet! They are not crazy energetic puppies. They are more on the chill side. They are observers, opting to sit back and check things out before diving in to new situations. I think this demonstrates intelligence on their part. They do love to play, but they also love to be picked up and held like the babies they are. We believe they will be large dogs once grown. Mom is only about 40 lbs but based on current size, we think the puppies will be bigger than her. We don't know what they are mixed with, and it is likely there are several different 'candy makers' in this batch! We are getting the puppies spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccine, started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention and microchipped.  These puppies are located in Arkansas. They can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questionsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/27/26 Introducing our 'Sweets' Seventh in the sweetness overload is Gumdrop! This beautiful little girl is cute enough to eat, with her slightly longer jet black coat. She looks the most like a lab. She is one of the smaller of the litter and may be around 50 lbs once grown. As with most of the litter, she tends to be a little shy at first, but she is easily won over with some baby talk and/or snacks. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Lady This sweet girl is a shelter pull. She was at the shelter for an extended time and we wanted to give a better chance of getting adopted. She is now in a foster home, where she is decompressing from shelter life, and learning what it means to me part of a family. She is initially a little shy, but she warms up quickly with some baby talk and treats. Lady walks well on leash. She is an active, agile dog and has the ability to jump over a fence. She doesn't really try to run away, she is mostly just looking for her people. So she needs close supervision outside. She would be an amazing hiking or running partner. We believe she is about 2 years old and she weighs about 40 lbs. She has been good with other dogs. Lady is located in Arkansas. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 3/7/26  Wrigley is new to rescue, but this sweet boy has seen things in his life. He has a quiet, calm energy, and despite being abandoned by his owners, he is trusting and loving with all people. He does very well with other calm dogs. He does not enjoy high energy dogs. He is not a fan of cats either. But he is a HUGE fan of all humans! He is the perfect companion. If you want a dog who will lay around and watch TV and cuddle. He is so affectionate and sweet natured. He was found on the streets just before the ice storm, and thankfully was taken in by a good Samaritan who kept him safe and warm during the brutally cold temps, but they could not keep him long term. He is about 2 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. He started at the Paws in Prison program a few weeks ago where he is paired with inmate trainers who will work with him on basic commands, house training, and maybe a few tricks! When he graduates he will have all of the skills needed to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. This is an 8 week program and we hope to have an adopter ready and waiting for Wrigley when he graduates! He graduates the week of 4/6.  He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.    Wrigley is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays.
