Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Leeda is a sweet sweet soul.  She absolutely LOVES the outside!!!  She is content to wander around the fields all day long!  She would be perfect for someone who has a large fenced yard where she can roam to her hearts content.  She loves people!RequirementsLarge Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 15, 2024, 12:36 pm

Story
We rescued Khloe a little over a year ago and she's a very sweet girl, loves to snuggle, has a ton of energy and is a really great companion. She has food aggression issues that have led to her biting if you attempt to get the food back from her. With two little children in our home, we've decided Khloe just isn't a great fit for our family. I do not recommend a home with children or other cats/dogs.

Story
Meet Wesley, who we saved at the 11th hour from a large, high kill shelter in Texas......As it turns out, this handsome gentleman, with a perfect shooting star marking on his chest, is just that - A STAR...❤...Wes is a VERY loving, happy, well behaved boy, who is dog friendly. Wes is about 6 years old, weighs 70 lbs and is very healthy...We do not know how he is with cats and have no way to test him. Wes is currently in boarding in Texas and would love a home with a family who will shower him with love and include him in their adventures...Could it be you?... If you live in the northeast OR Texas and feel you have what it takes to make Wesley's dreams come true, please follow the link below to fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch promptly...Hope to hear from you soon! Wesley's adoption fee is $500, which includes complete vetting, new bed, collar, harness, leashes, bowl, food for transitioning, complete medical record, HW prevention and transport north.

Story
Jax has been with me since he was 10 weeks old. He is now 10 months. He is Mr. Personality. Very intelligent and energetic. He knows some commands, needs training on leash walking. Gets along with my 12 lb. Chihuahua. Shy when meeting new people and dogs. With treats, you can accomplish anything with Jax. I live in an apartment and work 4 to 5 days a week, 12 hour shifts. His humans would have to have more time to spend with him. An energetic person with a yard and willing to train with him would be best. He needs to have his brain stimulated and plenty of exercise. And he loves to go on adventures.

Story
Owen is a gentle kind boy who the world is just a little too big for. He loves naps, belly rubs, and treats, but would prefer to be the only dog in the house. Great with cats and kids. Owen gets scared with big noises and needs his person there by his side.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.4/23/24 Magnus and Smokey have been listed for over a year and they still wait.  Their foster mom loves them so much but they deserve homes of their own! They do NOT need to be adopted together. These boys are so friendly, happy, and loving! Their 3 brothers have been adopted and all of them are doing so well in their adoptive homes. Unfortunately, Smokey and Magnus are living outside in a fenced area. Their foster mom takes in many dogs and a safe outside space is the only option she has for them (far better than being a stray where they'd be hit by a car, abused, starved etc.).  They are about 1.5 years old (estimated DOB July 2022) and we believe they are Silver Lab mix. They are very playful, sweet, and lovable. Good with other dogs. Cats….probably not. They haven’t been around kids and would probably not be the best match for small kids. They would never hurt a child on purpose, but they are bigger boys and would easily knock over little ones. Even though they live outside, their foster mom spends a lot of time with them.  Lets get these boys into nice warm homes with a comfy couches to lay on!Also available for foster!! Neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
