Story
Meet Wesley, who we saved at the 11th hour from a large, high kill shelter in Texas......As it turns out, this handsome gentleman, with a perfect shooting star marking on his chest, is just that - A STAR...❤...Wes is a VERY loving, happy, well behaved boy, who is dog friendly. Wes is about 6 years old, weighs 70 lbs and is very healthy...We do not know how he is with cats and have no way to test him. Wes is currently in boarding in Texas and would love a home with a family who will shower him with love and include him in their adventures...Could it be you?... If you live in the northeast OR Texas and feel you have what it takes to make Wesley's dreams come true, please follow the link below to fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch promptly...Hope to hear from you soon! Wesley's adoption fee is $500, which includes complete vetting, new bed, collar, harness, leashes, bowl, food for transitioning, complete medical record, HW prevention and transport north.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Leeda is a sweet sweet soul.  She absolutely LOVES the outside!!!  She is content to wander around the fields all day long!  She would be perfect for someone who has a large fenced yard where she can roam to her hearts content.  She loves people!RequirementsLarge Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!May 8, 2024, 11:22 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.9/16/23 Still available 4/24/23 Still available!    3/14/23 Could this guy be any cuter?? Here’s what his foster mom says about him-  Dale (40 lbs) was taken in from a bad situation, along with his brother Dink (35 pounds), in May 2022, along with many other dogs. The owner failed to spay and neuter his dogs, but seemed to keep most all of the puppies. There were so many dogs living there. We were contacted when he was being evicted and wasn’t taking any of the dogs with him. They were very shy upon intake, but have made tremendous progress! Dale LOVES to play! He loves running around in the yard and playing with his toys and other dogs. We would love to see him go to a home with another dog for him to play with. He is good with older kids, might be a little too rambunctious around small children. Not aggressive in any way, he just might accidentally knock little ones over. He enjoys cuddling, especially with my son in his bed at night. He is not completely housebroken, but he does use the pads inside during storms, etc. Working on the leash, he'd much rather run! Not cat tested. His breed is anyone’s guess! He kind of looks like a shrunken Lab! Dale was heartworm positive on intake but he's been treated and is now ready to find his forever home! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. A kind lady in the neighborhood has taken the babies in and is keeping them in her yard for safety. Mom is allowed to be in the yard too, but she comes and goes. We really hope to find mom a home, too, but first we are trying to get the babies into good homes. Mama is pictured last. She appears to be a lab mix. The babies are very mixed, and I believe they will be large dogs once grown. They are currently about 9-10 weeks old. I'm hoping to get better photos soon.
