You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well hello there, my name is Cloud. Yeah, yeah — Cloud. I know what you’re thinking. Who names a dog Cloud?! Seriously?! They could’ve gone with something cool like Snow… or Angelica (okay, maybe that’s a stretch). But Cloud? Come on! I should file a complaint with management — but let’s be real, I’m a big dog sitting in a kill shelter. Not exactly the time to make waves. So, something happened the other day… I overheard the kennel worker talking to a lady. She said, “They’re going to euthanize this week.” Both of them looked really upset. Then I heard, “Cloud is on the list.” OHHHH NOOOOO. I didn’t know exactly what “euthanize” meant, but judging by their faces… it was NOT good. But guess what?! Plot twist! Just one day before the “euthanizing thing,” 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue said they would TAKE ME!! The ladies were so happy, and I’m thinking: YES! I am busting outta here! I overheard them say I’m going North — Frankly, at this point, anywhere out the door still breathing sounds fabulous! Also, apparently, I’m going to “take a nap,” and when I wake up, I won’t be able to have kids. Honestly? TOTALLY FINE. No offense, but I have zero aspirations to deal with tiny things latched onto me, demanding snacks and attention. ‍&#226&#153&#128&#239&#184&#143 I’ll keep you updated once I land in this magical “North” place. Oh — and by the way, my adoption fee covers my spay and vaccinations! Talk about a bargain! UPDATE 7/21/2025 Hey guess what?! I just got my foster family — and it’s SO cool!!! I’ve got three tiny humans who love to play with me (they’re basically like little littermates, but they wear shoes). I’ve got a human mom and dad who actually like me — like, belly rubs and treats kind of like me! AND I have a fur buddy sister… who only has three legs, but don’t you worry — she’s already made it very clear she’s the queen of this house. I know my place, and that’s fine by me — we’re having a blast together! Honestly, I think I hit the jackpot. &#226&#156&#168Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Well Helloooooo! My name is Addison, and OH MY DOG, am I happy!!! 2nd Chance busted me out of that scary place they call a shelter. I heard them say I was on the “euth list” — at first, I thought maybe that was like some kind of award? You know, like the Dean’s List? NOPE. Turns out, it’s more like permanently expelled… from life. So yeah, I was pretty pumped to hit the road! Me and my brother loaded up into this big ol’ van with a bunch of our new buddies. It was a loooong ride, but honestly? No complaints! We had fans blowing cool air on us, soft blankets to snooze on, and — best part — it didn’t smell like 1,000 wet dogs. #luxury Then we arrived at this magical place where people called fosters were waiting to meet us. And guess what?? We each get our OWN foster families! I feel like I just won Pup Idol. So yeah… something tells me I’m gonna LOVE the North. Stay tuned — more tail wags coming soon!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. Well hey there, I’m June Bug! Sweet as a summer breeze and just looking for my happily ever after. (Don’t worry—I’m not too sweet. You won’t need insulin. ) My story? It started in a scary place. I was stuck in a tiny cage on cold cement with no sunshine, no grass, no playtime. The shelter workers were kind, but there just wasn’t enough space. Dogs were everywhere—stacked in kennels, in the hallway, even in the bathroom. We were all just trying to be good… but more and more kept coming. Then one day, we heard whispers about “the list.” I don’t know exactly what that meant, but the humans looked really upset… and I’d seen other pups go out the door and never come back. So yeah—I was terrified. Then something amazing happened. A lady pointed at me and said, “She’s safe. She’s going to 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue.” I didn’t know what that meant—but they smiled when they said it, so my tail started wagging just a little. Now I’m waiting for my next miracle. A warm couch. A soft voice calling me “good girl.” A yard to sniff, a toy to chew, a human to love. I’ve had the first part of my rescue. Now I just need the second—YOU. I’m ready to be your sunshine. Will you be mine? Please apply to foster or adopt me at: https://www.2ndchance4liferescue.org Love, June Bug The little bug who just wants to land in your heart. Hello my name is Inky.  I am a little princess and I know it!!  My mommy had me her whole life and we had lots of fun together.  Mommy lost her house and she moved into a mobile home park where they don't allow dogs over 30 pounds and well lets face it even if I tried I could never get to 30lbs so mom had to find a place for me to go :(  We were both really sad :(Lucky for me I got to come to the Ranch and they have big yards to snoof around in!!I went to the Doctor yesterday (I am not a fan!) They took blood and gave me a Librella Shot, and looked at my ears so I was lets just say not to happy with them!  They tell me its so I can feel better.  I'm not sure how poking me like a pin cushion will make me feel better but hey you humans have some strange ways so I made my disatisfaction known and now I am back at the ranch just chilling and snoofing!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. Story
Jackson has been in our family since he was 8 weeks old. He was born on May 3rd, 2023, and we acquired him from an experienced breeder. He needs updated vaccinations and check-up. Jackson is very patient around children. He is microchipped. Unfortunately, I will be selling my house by December 2025 and many of the rentals in the area either do not allow dogs or have a strict weight restriction so we can’t bring him along.
