Story
My name is Charlie... My life began at Randolph county animal shelter. You see Tails of the Unwanted pulled me after being dumped there by my previous owner. I was scared of all things especially the human touch. My foster mom says I've come a long long way in a year. I'll need to have someone that's patient with me and will give me room. You must have another dog... I love them so much and I get confidence and comfort from them. I'm neutered and microchipped. I have all vaccines including my rabies vaccine. I have been heartworm tested and tested negative. I must have a fenced in yard. No electronic fence. I walk great on the leash. If you think I could be the one for you or if you're up for a challenge please apply at www.tailsoftheunwanted.org Love Charlie&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143March 24, 2024, 9:50 pm

Story
Meet Deacon, he is a lab mix with a great personality… uh, dog-anality.  He is house trained, crate trained and leash trained.  Deacon can be a jumper and loves to run in his yard, so a 5 ft fenced in yard is a must for this boy.  If you want to see pure joy, watch him when he is playing with toys or gets the zoomies. It goes to a whole new level if the toy has a squeaker, those are his absolute favorite.  He does not like taking a bath, having someone hold his feet, or getting his nails cut.  He's your typical guys guy - not metrosexual at all.  Who needs all that floofy stuff anyway? Deacon is going to do best if he is the only animal or in a home with a non bossy or non grouchy female dog that is spayed.   He is not a fan of all small dogs that are bossy, he likes female non bossy small dogs and some kids, he may chase cats, but he likes them and just wants to play. Deacon may be too high energy for larger dogs.  Deacon was bounced around a bit before he went to his foster home, due to that he can be slow to warm up, but once you are his person - he desires nothing more than to be by your side… and have squeaky toys.  Did I mention he loves squeaky toys? Deacon is still figuring out the world and will need someone who will be patient with him… he can't just be thrown into new situations and expect to thrive.  A good example, is those spooky moving doors at PetSmart.  He doesn't understand them and we'll be honest, they freak him out a little, he is getting better- but he's learning.  Deacon has recently completed 2 weeks of board and train.  Note: The training he received comes with lifetime training touch ups. Once he has settled in, the trainer will provide you with training sessions to help acclimate him to his new home , they also provide group training sessions most Saturdays at local parks.  Deacon weighs approximately 45 lbs and has been neutered and microchiped.  If you think Deacon would make a good addition to your family, fill out an application at lastdaydogs.comMarch 24, 2024, 9:50 pm

Story
Hi everyone! My name is Alex. Some of you may know me as ' Alex The Great' of Greensboro. Being the loal celebrity that I am, you can view my FOX 8 interviews on the Tails of the Unwanted FB page! Well, that was my former life. Let me give you a bit of my history. Just a few, short months ago, I was living on the streets of Greensboro with my former owner. We were homeless. Needless to say, food was scarce, and I became very thin. Some concerned citizens contacted Animal Services about my plight. After some time, my owner surrendered me so that I could get the nutrition and care that I so badly needed. After a month in Guilford County Animal Services, I was nursed back to a healthy weight. They then transferred me into foster care where, over the past 6 months, I have been working on my inside manners, polite behavior, leash walking, and commands. This is what my foster parents have to say!!!! Alex is a very good boy! He is super sweet, not to mention handsome, and loves to get belly rubs and give kisses! He is a great swimmer and would love his new parents to take him to the lake or pool for a dip! He enjoys a nice, long walk and is good on a leash. If he catches a scent, he's on it, but it is corrected very easily. Although he is still learning his inside manners, he would love to cuddle on the couch with you, but he does great just chillin in his crate as well. (He has actually made his crate his safe place). We have found it difficult to get him out at times because Alex loves to play hard, and when his day is done, he's DONE! He is a 6-year-old healthy boy weighing approximately 50 lb. He is heartworm negative and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Alex would do best in a home where he has a lot of human contact and love. He can be anxious when separated from his people, which is not surprising due to him being with his past owner 24/7. He is currently on a low dose of anxiety medication, which is a far cry from where he was 6 months ago. He has settled in and has relaxed tremendously. He will need his humans to have patience for a while as he adjusts to his new surroundings. We believe that his new family will find that once Alex knows he's in a safe, loving place, he will relax and be the BESTEST boy for you! Alex would do best with older children as he is still very eager at meal time and treat time and is still learning his socialization skills but is good with other dogs in low-key settings. We are unsure about cats. Overall, Alex is a sweet, loving, affectionate boy who is eagerly waiting to meet his forever family! If you want to be a part of Alex's story and provide him his forever home, please complete an adoption application at lastdaydogs.comMarch 24, 2024, 9:50 pm

Story
Meet Duke (formerly Cooper), a very good three-year-old boy with the sweetest smile looking for a special forever home. This charming chocolate lab mix comes to us from an unfortunate background of neglect, so he can be shy at first. But he warms up quickly with gentle affection and lots of patience. Because of past abuse, sweet Duke does suffer from separation anxiety. His new family should understand that he may need medication for a while to manage his anxiety as he transitions to his new home. Providing steady companionship and reassurance will help Duke feel secure. He promises to return the love a hundredfold once he settles in! Duke hates being crated, so a secured high-quality crate is a must for when his new owners need to step away. He is also a flight risk and has escaped before, so keeping doors and gates double-locked is essential. This snuggly fella enjoys cozying up on his foster mom's favorite chair for naps. Duke gets along well with other dogs, but does best as the only pet so he can receive plenty of attention. Playing with his favorite sticks makes this sweet pup grin from floppy ear to floppy ear. His perfect match will be an experienced female adopter fully prepared and committed to helping this good boy continue building trust and confidence with ample love, training and security measures. Won't you open your home and heart to this deserving boy? With the right person by his side, Duke will blossom into the most loyal companion for life. If you are interested in Cooper/Duke, please complete an adoption application at lastdaydogs.comMarch 24, 2024, 9:50 pm

Story
Introducing Shamu! Quick Facts: Breed: Maybe a little lab, maybe a little boxer, maybe a little bit of Boston terrier to account for her spunky nature. Age: 7-8 years old. Size: Around 60# Now, this girl might not be as big in size as her marine-life namesake, but her heart rivals it easily. Shamu is the sweetest Lab/Boxer mix, with likely a little bit of everything else sprinkled in. She is bigger-dog friendly with proper introductions, but doesn't appreciate the yippy sounds that emit from small, fluffy dogs and isn't exactly kitty friendly. She still thinks she can catch a squirrel even though we've told her to give it up. She makes up for this with her love of ALL humans, big or small, hairy or wild. In her mature state, she enjoys a good lounge around the house & will even give you enough space on the couch to stretch your legs out. Shamu prefers to sleep in the same room as her family at night so she can make sure everyone is safe and sound. This girl is crate trained, house trained, and a terrible guard dog, saving most of her barking for her vivid dreams. Please read the information below and if you have any further questions please EMAIL us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible! If you're interested in adopting, please visit our website at www.c2cnd.org & complete the adoption application. -The adoption fee for Shamu is $256. -The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, heartworm test (if old enough to be tested & treatment if necessary), and spay/neuter. -Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families. Charlotte and surrounding cities only. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Story
Hi I'm Henry - a single, handsome male seeking a monogamous or polyamorous relationship (don’t judge) Breed: Lab/Pittie/Husky mix Estimated Birthday: 12/4/2015 House & crate trained Hi everyone! Foster lady says I need to tell you about myself so my furever family can find me. Here it goes: Well, I’m a big, handsome guy with a lot of love to give (hence the polyamorous mention above, there’s plenty of me to go around!). - I get along with dogs - The ladies love me (foster lady says I love the ladies more than they love me but what does she know, sounds like jealousy to me) - Cats don’t faze me - I love to be around people! - My absolute favorite thing in life are balls!! The only thing better than balls is water and.... balls! I mean, really, what is better than playing fetch all day?!? - I have a ton of energy! After a good play session I like to cuddle on the couch with my people - Car rides excite me, so much so that I need to be in a crate in the car otherwise I jump all over the place. I’m just excited to be going on an adventure! - I have a fear of the loud boom boom’s (thunder and fireworks). They’re scary and I feel better if I’m on your lap during these. (I’m really not afraid, I just want to make sure you aren’t – Foster lady is just trying to make me look like a scaredy cat). - I know basic commands – sit, stay, come - So, as you can see, I’m the full package! Who’s ready to come sweep me away?! Seeking: - Home with kids over the age of 12 due to energy level Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Henry is $256 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
Meet one of the most gentle, sweetest souls we’ve ever met...Duke! Duke actually found himself dumped and fending for himself in Rock Hill, SC. Being scared and confused, he avoided people and no one seemed to care. Luckily for Duke, his guardian angel spotted him and made it her goal to befriend him, catch him and get him to safety. Lauren befriended him by regularly showing up where he was hanging out to feed him. Over time she earned his trust and was able to catch him. What a selfless act of dedication and love by Lauren! He found his way to us and has been doing great, learning that he is safe and loved and can actually trust all humans He is a very smart, funny, goofy boy and truly has the sweetest disposition. Duke is a 1 year old, lab/hound mix, about 65 pounds, fully vetted, crate trained, housebroken, walks great on a leash and loves other dogs! He is gentle and loving and would do great in a family with older kids. He is still a bit shy but comes around quickly. We are requiring a fenced yard for him as he loves to run and play. Another dog also required in the home as he is learning so much from his dog buddies. If interested in possibly meeting him, please go to the below link to fill out an application. We just like to know a little about you prior to a meet and greet. https://www.freedomfarmrescue.com/adoption-process-and-application

Story
Landry is one of those sadly and insane stories of a dog spending month after month at a small rural shelter and constantly facing the chance of being the next one euthanized.  The shelter workers were determined to not let that happen.  They fought and they finally won the threat of him never leaving when they found a foster lady to take Landry and keep him safe out of the shelter and helping him search for a home.  This boy was so upset at the shelter because it is not a good environment to live when you just want to play and run and of course there is no room to do that in a small kennel!  The shelter people KNEW that Landry was a dog they needed to help save.  Yes he is a Pitbull mix…but his heart is that of a Golden Retriever temperament. Landry has proven himself to be a great boy and just as friendly and loving with people as a Golden Retriever would be.  He is exceptional with kitties and EXCELLENT with other dogs! This boy just wants to have fun and help everyone around him to enjoy life together with him.  Landry is already neutered, HW-, has 4 rounds of vaccines currently and rabies all done!! He’s 100% ready for his forever home! He does great sleeping in a crate at night and loves snuggle and belly rub time!! Landry is 40ish pounds, and is truly NOT a big dog at all. He’s a short stocky boy that is estimated to be around 8 months. If you have a heart to save and love a Pittie mix then Landry will NOT disappoint.  Let’s get this boy into a forever home fast so he can bond with his family and have the best life possible!!   Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue about giving Landry a new home. Email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 26, 2024, 11:20 pm
