Story
ABOUT ME: At just 5 months old, Janet has already experienced what it means to be left behind. Janet and her sister Crissy were found dumped on the side of the road in a small Texas town—scared, starving, and alone. Thankfully, our rescue partners stepped in, offering safety and kindness when no one else did. But now, Janet sits behind shelter bars, waiting for someone to choose her. Her time is running out, and she can’t make it to safety without your help. This Lab/Pyrenees (and maybe Aussie!) mix is sweet, curious, and full of potential. She’s dog-friendly, people-loving, and still just a puppy—ready to bond, learn, and grow into a cherished family member. Janet has a spot on our May 31st EMERGENCY transport to Wisconsin, but only if a foster or adopter says yes. Be the reason Janet gets a second chance. Apply at www.HBWI.org Not able to foster or adopt? Please share. It might be the post that saves her life. 💛 FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.
We'll also keep you updated on Crissy's adoption status with email updates.
