She's in a foster home in Memphis Tn with Michele and many other dogs and lots of comings and goings so she's very well socialized and confident . She is kennel trained and enjoys the company of her siblings, learning to house train with the help of pee pads and she's also learning all about the doggy door. In case you forgot, I’d like to highlight some of my positive features, and remind you what a lovely lady I am! I love to take walks, and I consistently keep a loose leash. You might say walking is my superpower! I steer clear of pedestrians, bicycles, strollers, and other dogs. I may stop to sniff for a few moments, but I don’t linger. As a mature, middle-aged lady, I sleep a lot during the day. I don’t have some of the naughty behaviors of less mature labs. I’m completely housetrained, and I sleep quietly through the night. I don’t bark, I don’t jump, I don’t counter surf, and I’m not destructive. I like to be close to my humans, and prefer not to be left alone, but we’re working on building my confidence and I’m making amazing progress! Oh, did I mention that I’m highly food motivated, so that’s another plus! While on walks, I alert to squirrels, but don’t chase. I ignore ducks and geese. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, but when I've come across them in the neighborhood, I ignore them. I am quite healthy now that I’ve been spayed and have had extensive dental work. I have some age-related changes in my spine (who doesn’t at my age!), so I take a supplement and a mild pain reliever, but it doesn’t seem to interfere with my physical abilities. I’ve been in my foster home since May, and no one is interested in adopting me. I can’t figure out why? I love car rides, I don’t bark, I’m a perfect lady in the house and don’t mess with anything, I love going for walks, I also like just laying by your side. I just had a dental done, had 7 teeth pulled and 2 root canals, and now my teeth are pearly white. The vet thinks I'm somewhere between 7 and 8 years old, and I am a huge lover. Well I’m much more comfortable in my foster home now that I’m used to the routine.  I like to stay close to my foster parents especially my foster mom.  They think I was close to my mom before she passed away.  I’m spending more time alone with my foster dad and doing really good.  Well, maybe I cry a little when foster mom leaves, but then I just hang out with foster dad.  I even spent a day with my foster uncle and he said I was super good.  I just followed him around all day. Guess you could say I'm a bit of a velcro dog. I’ve been going to doggie day care 4 or 5 days a week, and I'm getting along fine with the dogs there. I also like to follow the staff around.  Next week I’m going to a dental specialist for a cleaning and X-rays to check 2 teeth that are cracked. I would sure love to find my forever family!  I might be a little shy when I meet you, but I’ll warm up to you quickly, and love you forever. Please consider adopting me, I have so much love to give. 5/9/24 Hi everyone!  My name is Lucy and I’m new to L.E.A.R.N. so my foster family is still getting to know me. I was surrendered to a shelter along with 2 other dogs after my mom passed away and my dad didn’t want to keep me. Even though I lived with 2 other dogs I’m not very fond of the lab that lives here. Not sure if it’s all the change, or maybe I lived with smaller dogs, or maybe our personalities just don’t mesh. It happens… Good thing is, my foster family and a trainer are helping me with that. They think I’ll be able to overcome it with the proper training. I did go and meet the day care crew, and was ok when I saw all the big dogs, so who knows what’s up at the moment. I’ll keep working at it. My foster family tells me I’m a sweet girl but a little fearful. I’m getting more comfortable every day. I stay in a crate at night and when no one is home.  When I’m not in the crate I like to stay close to my foster parents and I don’t bother anything in the house. I’m pretty quiet and mellow. My name is Hulk although I am not quite sure how I got that name. I'm not big, muscular nor do I have anger management issues. I am a sweet boy who was an owner surrender to Anti-Cruelty in Chicago. That wasn't working out for me. I was so scared they had to give me medication to help me cope. Luckily LEARN pulled me and now I'm in a home where I can get the attention I crave. I am a fast learner and I am quickly learning how to tell people I need to outside to go potty. I sit for treats, but I have a hard time sitting when I get fed or when the leash gets put on. It takes too long and sometimes I help with the leash by carrying it in my mouth hoping that will help get it on faster. I love walks and I actually do decently when I am wearing a harness. There are so many things to sniff and I really like sniffing. I love all people but it can sometimes take me a minute or two to warm up, so it takes me a bit to approach you. Once I know you though, I love you. I try so hard not to jump and if you remind me then I will stop. I love toys, I love to play fetch but most of all I love being around my people. Oh, and my favorite thing to hear is that I am a good boy. My whole body just melts and if I have the opportunity to sneak in a kiss I will. Did you know that dogs can smile? I smile every once in awhile and I think I am pretty cute when I do it. I do live with one resident dog and sometimes I want to play rough and he doesn't like it too much. So our play time is supervised and restricted. I also live with two cats. I am curious and one swiped at me on my very first day, that was a little surprising. They have places to run to get away from me so I haven't gotten to actually "meet" them yet. For some reason I think they prefer it that way. Bristol is a 1-year-old, 44-pound, lab mix. She is super sweet & loves affection, especially belly rubs. Bristol was found as a stray on the streets of Texas & was in a shutdown state when she arrived at the Texas shelter. After about a week, her true self came out & she loved playing with the other dogs. She likes tug toys & squeakers. She will need someone patient enough to let her slowly come out of her shell. She would be too scared of small, unpredictable children & would love a home with another medium energy dog to play with.DATCP#483538

My name is Arvin & my toxic trait is thinking I’m a lap dog even though I currently weigh 59 pounds. If you love cuddling & think personal space is optional, I’m your guy!It’s guessed that I’m about 5 years old & a lab mix. I had a rough start when I got to WI, but, after a few vet visits, it was determined I have hypothyroidism. I’ve started daily medication, I’m feeling better every day, & Mom says my extra weight is melting off!My future family will need to make sure I stick to my diet & get plenty of exercise, so I can get to a healthy weight, which, for me, is about 50 pounds. They’ll also need to be able to manage my twice daily medication & understand I will most likely be on it for the rest of my life. But, don’t worry! Hypothyroidism is easily managed with medication & doesn’t have an impact on how long I’ll live.I’m potty trained on a schedule & working on my crate training - I don’t love it in there, but I’m a very good boy & usually free roam in my foster home. I get along just fine with dogs & I love kids. Cats are unknown, but as long as they don’t bother me, I’m sure I’ll be fine.Think you’re ready for some serious snuggling? Sadie is a lab mix puppy, age is about 9-10 months old. She is fun and energetic and would do best at a home where she has a yard to run around. We are a busy household with both parents who work outside the home and just don’t have the time to get her the exercise she needs. Sadie is good with other dogs and is great around children. She has never shown aggression. We are very sad to send her to new a home, but we ultimately think this is the right choice for her and our family at this time. It goes without saying that this boy is stunningly beautiful ! But he's just as amazing on the inside as he is on the outside. Tucker is calm, gentle, loves affection, sweet, kind. Amazing it all humans and children. He's perfect with other dogs and would also do fine as an only puppy as long has he has children to play with. He's very easy going and laid back. He's kennel trained and house trained and currently with Michelle in her home as a foster in Memphis , Tn. We have two transport companies that run to the northeast every weekend.
