Story
- 8 years old - neutered male - LARGE! a healthy 16 lbs - No known medical issues. Currently in good health including excellent teeth. Up to date on shots, regular vet check ups - Indoor only since 2017 - Reason for rehoming: Family member has developed cat allergies - Special needs: no other pets (some dogs might be ok but definitely no other cats) Personality: Rocky has been a beloved member of our family for 7 years. He is a big, bold cat! He is social in that he likes to lounge near his people. He is not cuddly and is easily overstimulated by too much petting, although he does like chin and neck scratches. He also loves to play with cat toys including fetch. Rocky is fearful (hissing, swatting) around other cats, the veterinarian, sometimes when traveling, and in new spaces. His new owners will need to be patient and give him plenty of space as he settles in. Once he does, you will have a curious and lively shadow for life!

Story
Are you looking for a super sweet fluffy cat? Then Buddy is your guy! This handsome 3-year old boy was surrendered to a Maryland shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. Buddy is shy when he first meets someone new, but he loves people! He enjoys pets so very much and you’ll want to pet him a lot bc he’s SO soft! He enjoys being held and is super gentle. He likes other cats, but would not do well with dogs or kids. Buddy is a Maine coon mix and is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Story
Hello, I'm April! I’m a little shy at first, but I promise I'm just as sweet as they come. I'm a gentle soul, preferring quiet moments and soft whispers. I enjoy spending time with my humans, but I’m also smart enough to know when to give you space. When you want to spend some time with me, I'll be there, purring and ready for a cuddle. I enjoy being pet on my head and neck – a kitty massage of sorts! 😊 My fur is super poofy and soft so you’ll enjoy petting me, too. I adore being brushed as well, it's our special bonding time. I'm mellow, preferring to watch the world go by from my cozy corner. But don't be fooled, I'm also playful when the mood strikes. My dream is to find a forever home where I can be my sweet, gentle, mellow self. Adopt me, and I promise to fill your life with soft purrs and gentle cuddles. I like other cats, but would also do well as a single soaking up all of the love in my forever home. April is a Maine Coon mix and her estimated birthdate is October 2020. She is spayed, current on vaccines, tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and has been microchipped.

Story
Hi! My name is Calypso and I am waiting for my “forever” home. My owners had to surrender me because they were moving and couldn’t take me with them. I had lived with them since I was just a kitten, so don’t understand why they left me behind, from the only home I had ever known. I am very afraid of new things/places/people, so may growl, hiss and scratch until I get to know and trust you. My foster mom tried very hard to get to know me for almost a month before I finally trusted her enough to come out from my covered bed (my “safe space”) and let her pet me and love me. Multiple times throughout the day, she sat with me and patiently talked to me while I either ignored her or growled and hissed at her from inside the covered bed and scratched her hand when she tried to pet me anyway, but she persisted, and it paid off. Now, I love to come out and be petted/rubbed! She tells me how much she loves me and I purr my love back. When I have had enough, I head back inside my bed for some “me time.” You “cat-savvy” people know what I mean! So far, I haven’t let my foster mom pick me up and I haven’t climbed up in her lap, but I like to lay next to her to be petted. I don’t think I’m actually shy, but I am reserved, and take time to warm up to new situations. When she needs to move me so she can clean my room, she carries me to the other room in the covered bed and I am fine with that – I don’t even try to jump out. I have a Comfort Zone diffuser where I hang out and “stress and anxiety” drops in my water since I have had a tough time adjusting to this new life, but I hope I won’t need it once I am settled in my “forever” home. I’m a big girl, and to be perfectly honest, I admit I am a bit on the chunky side, even though I don’t think I eat too much. I only like dry food served in a shallow bowl or on a plate – I’ve been eating Purina One Tender Selects Blend (Salmon) since coming to Fancy Cats and Dogs Rescue and I like that because it has real salmon! My foster mom has tried several kinds of canned food to see if I would eat it, but I am not at all interested. I don’t even like Temptations treats much, but do enjoy catnip! I drink my water well and use the litter box like a good girl. I also like to use my scratching post, but I don’t play with toys, but maybe I just need more time. My foster mom has 3 young cats and, while they are very interested in getting to know me, I am not too interested in getting to know them, so growl at them to keep them from getting too close to me, which they respect. I have always been the only cat and prefer to keep it that way. Although I still spend a lot of time snoozing in my covered bed (which I love because it makes me feel safe), I come out when my foster mom calls my name - I wiggle out of the bed and come over for pets. Now that I trust her, I especially love to have my head and chin petted/scratched, purring all the while, and getting whole body rub-downs, except don’t much like having my feet touched. Maybe not immediately, but once I get to know you, you can even rub my belly! Because of the other cats at my foster house, I choose to stay in the bathroom instead of exploring the rest of the house. However, once I get settled into my new home - where I am the queen of my domain - I know that I will enjoy exploring, but please be patient with me. It has been a tough few months for me and it will likely take a bit of time for me to come around, but it will be worth it because I have lots of love to give and will be a perfect addition to your family. Story
Hi there, my name is Tess, and I am a fabulous fluffy lady, you can tell by how I sit lady like.  If you are interested in adopting me, you should know a few things before applying (see 2nd part of description).  I love to snuggle, make biscuits, and purr while I sit in your lap.  If you let me, I will sleep on the pillow next to you or on your pillow above your head.  I would love a friend to play with, I am a social lady that likes to play, have fun, and meet people.  I like catnip toys, the laser pointer, and string toys.  I have the manners of a lady and even when I was having some digestive problems, I kept myself clean and tidy.   I came to FCDRT because I had severe diarrhea and have been here for almost 1 year, then I met my foster mom.  My foster mom has experience with cats that have food sensitivities and allergies, she took me in to investigate what was going on and the best way to help me feel better.  It turns out I have severe IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), but we found some food that keeps me solid and feeling good.  I cannot eat any of the common standard dry or wet foods, because it turns out I have several sensitivities to various foods and synthetic vitamins & minerals.  In order to keep me healthy and solid I need to stay with my specific diet.  See more pictures and videos at www.instagram.com/shannysfosters   Adoption fee : $200   Included in adoption: all shots, sterilized, dewormed, deflea, microchip       If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have.
