Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Miss Sadie – Sweet, Gentle, and Ready to Love Meet Miss Sadie This darling girl is a former puppy mill mama who is now ready to enjoy the life she’s always deserved—a life filled with love, comfort, and companionship. Sadie is incredibly sweet and affectionate with her people. She loves going for walks, relaxing on the sofa, and soaking up all the belly rubs she can get. Once she feels safe, she happily gives kisses and wags her tail to show just how much she adores being part of a family. She has a gentle, sensitive nature and can be a little shy when meeting new people or experiencing new situations. Like many dogs with her background, fast movements can startle her—but with patience, reassurance, and a calm environment, she continues to grow in confidence each day. Sadie would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and enjoy her outdoor time. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and would do well with a calm canine companion, though it’s not required. She has a low-to-moderate energy level and is happiest spending her time near her people—whether that’s napping, lounging nearby, or quietly keeping you company throughout the day. Sadie is house trained and does well when kept on a consistent schedule. She is able to signal when she needs to go out and benefits from regular opportunities during the day. She settles nicely at night and sleeps through without needing to go out. She is comfortable being crated for short periods when you’re away, though she prefers to sleep near her person—either in bed or in a cozy space nearby. Sadie would thrive in a home where someone is home more often than not, as she truly enjoys companionship and being part of everyday life. A household where she isn’t left alone for long stretches will help her continue to feel secure and flourish. She does well with other dogs and would be a good fit for a home with respectful children over the age of 8. At heart, Sadie is a loving, gentle soul who is simply looking for a safe place to land. In return, she will give you unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and so much love. Sadie’s adoption donation is $500, and she is being fostered in the Cincinnati area. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home—she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. She has tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and she has also had a dental cleaning.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  April 6, 2026, 1:05 pm

Story
Sophie | 8 lbs | Senior | Small Dog Friendly | No Kids | Calm Home  Sophie has spent 14 years as a pampered princess and sees no reason to stop now! She was surrendered when a new baby decided Sophie was the most interesting thing in the house (because she IS). Someone had to go. Shockingly it was Sophie. She is choosing not to dwell on it though. Instead, she's eagerly looking forward to being spoiled and adored in her new forever home. Do not let her age fool you. This girl is sassy and seems to have plenty of life left to live. What Sophie has "requested": Relatively calm home No children Small dogs only High quality food (she is the Gordan Ramsey of canine cuisine) What Sophie offers: Gentle affection on her own terms Loyal companionship (she'll be your little shadow!) A big personality in a pint size package The occasional kiss... if you earn it A note on her needs: Sophie is very hard of hearing at 14, which mostly means she has stopped pretending to listen to things she disagreed with anyway. Her eyesight is still good with only slight difficulty in low light. She has plenty of affection to share but we wouldn't call her a lap dog. She is an independent companion who loves keeping an eye on her human and never being far from their reach. She won't curl up ON you, but she's happy to be right next to you. The person who adopts Sophie is not just rescuing a senior dog, they are getting extremely lucky to have this spritely little diva in their lives. Adoption fee: $200 Includes spay, up-to-date vaccines, and current flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. If you have more questions about Sophie, you can contact: 4leggedlayover@gmail.com Please note that only applications submitted through our website using the link above are valid. Inquiries or applications submitted through Petfinder or other third-party sites are not accepted. Your veterinarian must have permission to speak with us. Please contact your vet as soon as you apply, as applications will not be considered without this authorization. No meet and greets are arranged without an approved application on file.April 6, 2026, 12:21 pm
