Maizy is a sweet little Maltese (maybe mix) who is learning she is safe and loved! This precious 10 pound, 5ish year old came to us from a breeding farm when they no longer had any use for her. Those days are behind her! She's been so forgiving and is enjoying life outside the cage that confined her. Maizy has quite the personality. Though shy when meeting new people, she's quick to bloom into a sweet companion! She loves to be wherever her people are! She enjoys pets and shows her love by kissing your hands and booping your legs. Maizy is house trained under a watchful eye. She also does fantastic in her crate after a very short whining session to tell you she's not happy you are keeping her from being by your side. Maizy is 10 pounds of fluff and a joy to be around. She loves other dogs and would benefit from a fenced in yard. Our preference is that she has both in her new home. Maizy has the potential to be nearly normal after some patience and proper decompression. She's so tolerant and just wants to love and be loved! Born around March 12, 2025, Myles weighs 17.6 pounds and is full of personality. He came to us as part of a 29-dog seizure where, although the dogs were cared for, they didn’t get the individual attention and socialization they needed. Despite that, Myles has proven to be incredibly friendly and people-loving. He thrives on attention and is always excited to be around his humans. Myles would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, as he truly enjoys companionship and being part of daily life. Myles has also been seen by an ophthalmologist and has cataracts in one eye. He is currently on special eye drops, and we are hopeful for improvement with continued treatment. He also has a playful side—he absolutely loves toys and is always up for some fun. Whether it’s a game of toss or just carrying his favorite toy around, he knows how to enjoy life. He’s currently learning how to walk on a leash and will benefit from a patient adopter who can continue helping him build confidence and skills. With his sweet nature and eagerness to connect, Myles is sure to make a wonderful companion. Myles’ adoption fee is $400. Little Apollo came to FDHS as a stray alongside his bestie Artemis. He’s estimated to be around 6 years old and we are guessing him to be a Poodle mix with a whole lot of personality packed into a very small frame.Apollo might be a little guy, but he fully believes he is “large and in charge.” He’s got big feelings, a little bit of sass, and absolutely no awareness of how small he actually is. He carries himself like he runs the place, even if he could be mistaken for a well-loved stuffed animal.Once he’s comfortable, Apollo is social and engaging, with a confident streak that comes out more and more as he settles in. New people and situations can take him a moment to warm up to, but he adjusts with time and consistency. He does well on leash and enjoys getting out for strolls at his own pace. He would prefer a low-traffic, calm home with a cozy spot where he can keep an eye on everything.Apollo would love to be adopted with Artemis, since they came in together and definitely seem to bring each other comfort. This little floof is Artemis!Artemis came to FDHS as a stray with her best friend Apollo (also available!). We’re estimating she’s around 6 years old and she looks like some kind of Poodle mix.She’s a small girl with big feelings and an even bigger voice to go with them. Artemis can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up with patience and once she’s comfortable, her sweet side really starts to come through.She walks nicely on leash and enjoys getting out and adventuring. At the end of the day, she’s happiest curled up in her dog bed, settled in and relaxed.Artemis would really love to be adopted with Apollo, since they came in together and clearly have a great friendship going. Meet Sammy Jo! He hasn’t had the easiest path in life, but you’d never know it by the gentle way he’s beginning to trust again. This sweet boy is slowly stepping out of his shell and showing us the loving heart that’s been there all along. He is a white 10 year old Maltese who is incredibly sweet and enjoys being petted and loved on by his people. He’s starting to show his playful side by recently wagging his tail and initiating play with one of the smaller dogs in his foster home. He is fully potty trained and has never had an accident in the house or his crate. His crate is his safe haven, a place he willingly goes to relax and feel secure. He also does well with children and enjoys calm, gentle interaction. Sammy Jo does have food aggression and will need structured feeding with clear, consistent boundaries. He must be fed separately, and his space around food needs to be respected. With routine and predictability, he does well. He also has a collapsing trachea and requires medication twice daily. His future family will need to stay committed to keeping him on his medication schedule to ensure he stays comfortable and healthy. Sammy Jo values his personal space, especially around other dogs. If dogs are constantly in his face or if food is involved, he can become overwhelmed. However, he is making steady progress and is slowly building tolerance with proper introductions. Sammy Jo will thrive in a home that believes in structure, patience, and consistency. He needs a family who understands that trust takes time and that giving him appropriate space is a form of love. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who is learning every day that the world can be safe again. The quiet cuddles, the tail wags, the small victories.
