Meet Sam! Sam is a very handsome pup, estimated at about 3 years old. He’s thought to be a Mastiff Mix, but, rather small for the breed. Sadly, Sam found himself at an overcrowded noisy animal control facility down south. He deserves a forever home and family of his own, and we want to help him get there!! This precious pup absolutely loves people and is good with older kids who are respectful of dogs. We expect he is good with lower energy dogs. Dogs who are too active might scare him and cause him to react. Sam absolutely loves belly rubs, and treats too! He's a little rough around the edges in terms of training but clearly is eager to learn. Sam is in overall good physical shape however he does have some vision issues causing him to sometimes miss things coming his way….this is why we expect he’d be scared by higher energy dogs, and high-activity youngsters. Sam is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventative. We would still like to get Sam to an eye specialist for a comprehensive examination of his eyes/vision. Beatrice is at our shelter. Please submit an application through our website or stop by during open hours to meet her! Scroll through her pictures to see all of her cute videos! Some dogs are larger than life. Beatrice is larger than life... but convinced she's lap-sized. We think this beautiful girl is a Mastiff/Hound mix (or something equally lovable), and while she may be a big dog, she is quite possibly one of the gentlest souls we've ever met. Beatrice has absolutely no concept of her size. She leans into people with her whole body for affection, quietly rests her giant head in your lap, and looks at you with the softest expression as if to ask, "Is this okay?" (The answer is always yes.) She's incredibly sweet, wonderfully meek, and has the kind of calm, easygoing temperament that makes everyone fall in love with her. In fact, we don't say this lightly—Beatrice is one of the nicest dogs we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She adores people, is lovely with other dogs, and seems to believe everyone she meets is a potential friend. Like many Mastiff-type dogs, Beatrice previously had entropion, a condition where the eyelids roll inward and the eyelashes rub against the eye. Before coming to Heartland, she underwent corrective surgery, and she's now comfortable and seeing the world just the way she should. We think it's fitting that the only thing ever "wrong" with Beatrice was that her eyes needed a little help—because now everyone who looks into them falls in love. There's a saying that the bigger the dog, the bigger the heart. If that's true, Beatrice's heart must be absolutely enormous. She's the kind of dog who makes you slow down. The kind who reminds you that gentleness is a strength. The kind who would happily spend her days following you from room to room, leaning against your legs while you make dinner, and curling up beside you at the end of the day. If you've been waiting for a giant, smooshy best friend with impeccable manners, a heart of gold, and enough love to fill an entire house, Beatrice has been waiting for you too. Beatrice's adoption fee is $300. She is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Oh, Leona....where do we start? It is evident that this poor girl was loved at one point in her short life. She knows how to sit on command, give paw, and does zoomies when she's excited. We're not sure where things went wrong for her, but she's with us now and is learning to trust again. She's on the petite side and is so funny when she plays. There aren't enough nice things to say about Gigi.....she's a total doll! This big girl has an amazing temperament and love everyone she meets. She's not a fan of other dogs, but that is typical of this breed. She came from a home with kids and it is evident that she is a family dog. She is very lonely and howls at night because she's in a kennel and misses her family. She really needs a home where she can be spoiled for being the special girl that she is. hiiiiiiii! i’m mia and let’s be fully transparent with each other. i didn’t have the best life before i came here, but we don’t need to go into the details of it because what i am focusing on is the bright future i have now. it is no secret that i am underweight. a mastiff weighing at 93 pounds at almost 6 years old? yeah, not your typical mastiff. but guess what? I’m gaining weight everyday! I have already grown so much. fun fact… i LOVE peanut butter chewy treats! my foster mom says im the definition of a gentle giant. whatever that means. something probably like i am really big but sweet? that makes sense to me because i am really tall! i have really big paws! but i also am calm, lazy (at times), and an absolutely sweetie! but when you go to grab my leash to go outside, step aside because im about to do the biggest happy dance ever! kids? luv em. they like to give me tiny things they call treats and i loooove to lick them right off their tiny hands! the kids smile because they say it tickles. other pups? i wanna play with them all! anywho - i am looking ahead to my bright bright future that involves lots of food, ear rubs, and a nice big comfy bed, and some humans that i can call home. because home isn’t always a place, sometimes its humans too. She’s the perfect blend of cautious and curious. Madison is very responsive, especially when treats are involved. Madison enjoys playing around and chilling too. She’s quite calm or shall we say reserved for a young one!? She eats her meals in a timely fashion and after dinner and play time, Madison settles into her crate without a peep all night. She’s known to snore, at nighttime and when napping! It's so cute to see her curled up, even during a drive as she relaxes easily in the car. Madison’s personality shines during play— with toys, dogs, and gentle, caring people. She likes to keep busy with bones and treat filled toys. Madison will make you laugh out loud with brief, random zoomies here and there, both inside and outdoors. Maddie is full of pleasant surprises! When she’s ready to rest, Maddie just settles down in a spot where she feels safe and comfortable, like a rug just her size! After a day or two of settling in a new home, Madison will follow you around, slowly but surely. You won’t be surprised to find her waiting to meet you in the kitchen! True to her Mastiff nature, Madison makes such a wonderful companion. And, getting to know Maddie, as she’s also affectionately called, is really to love her. Madison has received medical care to help her heal on both the outside and inside. She needs everyone to meet her where she is-- once a much more fearful dog with a recent history of trauma, who is gradually learning to trust those invested in her growth and progress. Lovingly, this now one one-eyed wonder is simply amazing. With the proper guidance and opportunities to learn and explore this summer, Madison is truly blossoming. And it’s so gratifying. She will enrich your life, helping you to be in the moment with her as she tunes into different sights and sounds of nature, people, and places. Of course, she sniffs around too! Madison needs a safe, calm, nurturing environment with a family who will be attentive, patient and kind. Madison is no different than a child who needs structure and lotsa loving. Older children who demonstrate an understanding of boundaries and display compassion would be great to interact or share their home with Madison. She'd surely soak up the love! Once adjusted to being in her new home, Madison would really benefit from a class for more socialization (ahem, play time!), to learn commands, continue to bond with you, and shine bright.
