Story
Meet Tassels: A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold Introducing Tassels, also lovingly called Mumma by her fosters, a majestic 1.5-year-old Mastiff/Mountain Cur mix whose journey to happiness is truly inspiring. Rescued from a life of uncertainty while extremely pregnant and terrified, Tassels has shown incredible resilience. She was elusive for over a year, only seen on a Ring camera in the Detroit neighborhood she roamed, until we finally secured her safety. Since then, she has blossomed in foster care, watching her babies find their forever homes. Now, it's her turn! Why Tassels is Special: Loving and Affectionate: Tassels expresses her love by placing her massive head in your lap or under your hand for scratches. Her affectionate nature makes her a wonderful companion. Well-Trained and Mannered: She knows basic commands, is potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Playful and Joyful: Despite her size, Tassels is playful and enjoys the simple pleasures of cuddling, playing with toys, and lounging in the grass on sunny days. Her zoomies are a sight to behold and bring laughter and joy to everyone around her. Curious and Easygoing: Over the months, Tassels has overcome her initial shyness and now approaches life with curiosity and ease. She’s come to enjoy her interactions with people and her foster sibling. Tassels’ Ideal Home: Tassels would thrive in a home without cats or small dogs. She can live with another dog, but a proper, slow introduction is necessary to ensure a harmonious relationship. Her ideal family will be one that can provide stability, plenty of space for her to stretch her legs, and lots of love. She responds wonderfully to food, affection, and praise, making her a delightful and grateful companion. Is Tassels the Missing Piece in Your Family? If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and serene companion to add warmth and joy to your home, consider welcoming Tassels into your life. She promises to fill your days with affection and happiness. Ready to adopt Tassels? Apply today! Visit our website to fill out an adoption application and learn more about how you can bring Tassels home! Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home and we want our adopters to be prepared for that! APPLY on our WEBSITE: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt

Story
Meet Toph! Toph, aka Toffee, is a lovable, affectionate, and energetic pup who’s always ready for cuddles, playtime, and plenty of love! With her sweet, snuggly nature, she’s the ultimate lovebug who thrives on affection and being the center of attention. Though she’s a little cautious around new things and people, once she warms up, she’s a total joy to be around. She’s active, playful, and always up for a good game with her foster siblings or a fun adventure to daycare. Toffee loves car rides, going outside, and taking walks, but when she’s ready to relax, she’s the best snuggle buddy, curling up on the couch for a cozy nap. Toffee loves to shower everyone she meets with kisses, especially cats—she’s a big fan of licking their heads. She’s fully potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Toph knows many basic commands, including “sit,” “stay,” "outside," "crate," and “off." She also responds well to her name! Toph is dog and cat friendly, and we believe she would do well around children who have experience with large dogs - she loves every human she meets. She gets along wonderfully with cats and loves to spend time with them. If you’re looking for a high-energy, affectionate companion who will give you endless love and joy, Toffee might just be the perfect fit. She’d do well in an active household with other dogs or cats, and she’s sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face with her sweet and silly personality! Toph can be an only dog in an active home with someone who can keep her busy. Adoption is $275 and includes spay/neuter at our vet when age appropriate, vaccines to date of adoption, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Toph has completed all medical. Story
Meet Yak – A Gentle Giant Whose Heart Has Been Waiting Far Too Long For two long years, Yak has watched other dogs come and go—each one leaving the shelter behind, while he remains. Despite being one of the most beloved dogs in the entire shelter, Yak has only received a handful of applications. Each time, hope bloomed… only to be crushed by silence or rejection. And still, he waits. Yak is a roughly 3-year-old Mastiff mix with a body built for power and a heart made for love. He’s big, goofy, loyal, and affectionate—a total baby in the body of an athlete. The staff and volunteers can’t say enough about him. He’s truly everyone’s favorite, not just because of his stunning looks, but because of the deep sweetness that radiates from him once he feels safe. What Yak needs isn’t much—but it’s everything to him. He’s looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where he can finally exhale. A peaceful place with one or two committed adults who understand large dogs and are ready to give him the structure, patience, and unconditional love he deserves. Right now, Yak does best as the only pet, but with time and trust, he may be able to welcome another dog—or even children—into his world. Yak is not just another shelter dog. He is a soul who has waited far too long for someone to see him and say, “You’re mine.” He deserves better than a kennel. He deserves a couch, a backyard, a warm hand on his head, and a forever home where he can finally rest. Please—be the one who gives Yak the life he’s been waiting for. Apply to meet him today. Let’s finally get this boy home. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Meet Lincoln! This 70-pound Mastiff mix is as big-hearted as he is big-headed—and he’s on the lookout for his forever home. Could it be with you?Lincoln is loyal, playful, and eager to please. He’s still young and would thrive with some basic obedience training, but he’s a quick learner and already walks well on a leash. (No fenced yard needed—just be ready for a strong grip!)He gets along with most dogs, big and small, and would love a canine buddy to play with.Lincoln can be a little nervous when meeting new people, especially kids, and may need a few slow introductions before heading home. But once he warms up—quickly, in most cases—he’ll shower you with love and kisses. And when it’s cuddle time? He forgets his size and turns into a 70-pound lap dog.If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who’s ready to grow with you, Lincoln’s your guy.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Story
Douglas is a young, playful and happy-go-lucky boy. He’s a big goofy boy estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs about 90 pounds. He’s outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He gets along with other dogs and will be a great companion! He is neutered, heartworm tested and vaccinated. Video of him can be seen on our Facebook page here. Is this dog house trained? Expect to house train a newly adopted dog. Some dogs will pick it up faster than others. Successful house training largely depends on patience and consistent encouragement. Most of the dogs that end up in shelters are mixed breeds that can have 2 to 10 different breeds in their DNA. The breed listed is only the best guess of the shelter volunteers. To apply to adopt online go to https://wacshelter.com/adopt-a-dog/ ALL ANIMALS LISTED AS ADOPTABLE ARE AVAILABLE TO BE ADOPTED. *ADOPTION FEE: $150 (cash only) includes spay/neuter, distemper vaccine, heartworm test, and rabies vaccine.
