Age: 4-5 years Weight: 110ish Location: Hagerstown, MD Nicknames: BeBe Good with other dogs?: No, must be the only dog in the house. She has lived with other dogs but can not be around food and other dogs. She does have food aggression with other animals with either dog food or human food. But she has no aggression to people AT ALL and the only animal aggression is if there is food out, as she lived without food in deplorable conditions. She needs slow introductions to other dogs. She so far does not seem like a fan of the other dogs barking in the neighborhood. Good with cats? She has lived with cats and is fine as long as there is no food out. Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10 Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Needs in-house activities IQ: Average Bea's favorite things: Bea loves car rides, humans, walks, and to just be directly beside you. She wants to be your best friend and your helper with whatever you do. Got a treat? She's in. Wanna walk? She's in. Wanna do yard work? She's in. When it's nice out, she rather be out rolling around on her back though, so she won't get much work done. Bea is good at: meeting people, walking on a leash Ideal home: no children, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities Training Needs: needs obedience training Health issues: None Meet Bea Bea came to ABR from a horrible situation in Georgia. She had a few months in a foster in Georgia while she was spayed and going through heartworm treatment. Once she was cleared, she came to Maryland to join American Bulldog Rescue. So far in the few weeks she has been with us, we've learned a lot about each other. She does want to be near you all the time, so time away from you and when she's in the crate, she will whine. When she was first here, she would bark when she was left alone, but that went away once she was comfortable in our house. She's gotten better with the crate with a big blanket over it to make it like a cave. She's always excited to be near you and get any attention she can get. She's doing well with leash walking. She will pull if there is something she wants to smell, but other than that, she does not very pull often. We currently do 3 smaller walks a day since the weather hasn't been super great, but will be doing longer walks once it starts to get nicer out. Bea WILL need some work with a trainer/obedience school. We are working hard on basic commands and she is getting better each day, but she will benefit with structure, routines and some training. Bea will also need a fenced yard. She does love walks, but a fenced yard for her to get energy out is what she likes. She does have a habit of chewing on harnesses and leashes if she thinks she's alone for more than a few seconds. *Bea's best situation would be the only dog so she can have run of the house, and always be near you.
