He absolutely LOVES little dogs though so ideally would like to find a home with another small friendly/playful dog(s). He currently lives with two other pups and has lots of play dates. Shakira is a sweet, cuddly older girl who is filled with so much life. She gets along great with other small dogs (no larger dogs in the foster’s home), and has even shown a playful side. Shakira has sight and perhaps some hearing impairments, and her hips are visibly wonky, but she gets around and up and down short flights of stairs just fine. She is a happy, easy girl, and she’s especially hard not to adore. When she’s not sleeping in a sunny spot, which is most of the time, she likes to follow her foster mom around the house & enjoys being carried around or sitting with her humans on the couch. If taken outside regularly, she’s housebroken. Shakira doesn’t bark, but she vocalizes loudly when she’s lonely or hungry, and has a little separation anxiety that she’s working through.

Herschel is a super friendly and affectionate 2 year old Poodle mix. He is always happy to greet new people and has soulful, kind eyes. We can tell Herschel was never really socialized properly, so he can be overly excited when seeing dogs out and about. He will need an adopter who is committed to working with him on his excitement and teaching him manners when it comes to his play style. Herschel just really wants get out his zoomies and sometimes he doesn’t get the memo that the party is winding down! He would be very happy having a canine buddy to run around with and keep him occupied in his forever home. Older kids would also be good for him. He definitely thrives having a yard. Herschel loves playing with squeaky toys, chewing on bones and digging in his bed like a silly boy. He is also a huge fan of cuddling in your lap. Herschel wants to be where his people are, so he is learning to work through his separation anxiety. He sleeps through the night just fine in his crate, but is working on being left alone for small amounts of time during the day. This is another reason why he might do best having another pet around to keep him company. Herschel is a sweet little man and we look forward to finding him his forever family!

Meet Manse! He is soo precious! He is a 5 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea. We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable. Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth. If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away. Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat. Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South Korea, and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men. Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions. The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Manse and some of his friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life. These are miracle dogs that they are alive today. Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.
