Aki is now looking for a new family to help her overcome this loss and enjoy a happy new chapter in life. 3⃣ Basic Information * With People: Adores people so much. Doesn’t mark indoors. * Hygiene: Calmly accepts bathing, drying, and brushing. * Walks: Walks very well without pulling on the leash. Has a lot of interest in other animals and sometimes wants to approach them. * Biting: Doesn’t bite at all! * Barking: Barks briefly when strangers enter the room, but she quiets down quickly. * Likes: Really likes human touch and attention, as well as other dog friends! * Dislikes: Since she loves people so much, she can get jealous if you pay attention to other dogs.

Story
Sherlock is ready for his furever home!! We rescued Sherlock from Harbor shelter back in December. Poor guy has had a rough go of things. It’s very obvious he was abused and has some trauma we’ve been working through. He spent several months with one of our trainers working to build confidence and has come a long way. Sherlock is now settled in with a foster and is doing very well. He’s around 2-3 years old and a poodle mix of sorts. He warmed up very quickly to his foster mom and is super affectionate. He takes a while longer to warm up to men, which is understandable. He will need patience there and someone committed to continuing to work through this and help him build more confidence around men. He LOVES his walks and other dogs. He follows the other dogs in his foster home around everywhere. He would do best with a confident doggie buddy in his furever home. He couldn’t care less about the cats in his foster home and has really settled in wonderfully. He loves his crate and does well in there for several hours at a time as needed. Sherlock will thrive in a patient home with another dog and loving people willing to continue to show him the world and that people aren’t so scary. In return you will get a velcro cuddle buddy who just wants to be your best friend. If you’re interested in adopting Sherlock please apply on our website roversretreat.org ! 📍Sherlock is currently being fostered in Santa Maria, California but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. We don’t ship any of our dogs

Story
Meet Bri Female DOB: June 10, 2025 Weight: 14 lbs Breed: Poodle Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Bri is a sweet, kind-hearted young dog with a loyal nature and a gentle spirit. At 1 year old, she has the perfect blend of playful energy and growing maturity. She enjoys spending time with her people and thrives on companionship, affection, and being included as part of the family. Bri forms strong bonds with the people she loves and is happiest when she can be close to her family. Whether she's joining you for a walk, relaxing at home, or simply keeping you company throughout the day, Bri's loving personality shines through in everything she does. As a Poodle Mix, Bri is likely to be intelligent, eager to learn, and highly people-oriented. Poodles are known for their trainability, loyalty, and affectionate personalities. They thrive with positive reinforcement, mental stimulation, and opportunities to spend quality time with their families. Bri would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily companionship and interaction Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to her emotional and physical well-being Her sweet personality and loyal nature make her an excellent companion for individuals, couples, or families looking for a devoted best friend. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Like all rescue dogs, Bri may need time to adjust to a new home and routine. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help her settle in and build confidence as she learns her new environment. Bri will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Bri blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Bri will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Regular grooming and coat maintenance Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of her Poodle heritage, regular grooming and coat care will be important to keep her comfortable and healthy. Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Bri thrive in her future home. Bri is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Meet Backham Male DOB: April 28, 2026 Weight: 5 lbs (current — still growing)** Breed: Poodle / Terrier Mix Expected Size: Small to Medium when fully grown Neutered (Fixed): Pending (age-appropriate) Vaccines: In Progress Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Backham is a sweet, gentle puppy with a loving personality and a heart full of affection. He enjoys being close to his people, exploring his surroundings, and discovering the world around him one adventure at a time. His calm, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion and an easy puppy to fall in love with. At just a few months old, Backham is still learning and growing every day. He is at an important stage in his development where positive experiences, socialization, and training will help shape him into a confident and well-mannered adult dog. As a Poodle / Terrier Mix, Backham may inherit the intelligence and trainability of the Poodle along with the curiosity, confidence, and playful spirit often found in Terriers. This combination can create a wonderful family companion that thrives on interaction, learning, and spending time with his people. Backham would thrive in a home prepared for: Ongoing puppy training and supervision Daily playtime, exercise, and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being Puppies are adorable, but they also require patience, supervision, training, and long-term commitment as they grow and develop. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue puppies come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even very young puppies require guidance and supervision to learn how to navigate life in a home environment. Puppies are not automatically trained simply because they are young. While rescue provides safety, care, and basic socialization, adopters should expect to continue all training and development after adoption. Adopting a puppy means being prepared for: Potty training and accidents Teething and chewing phases Crate training and leash training Nighttime wakeups and supervision Jumping and playful puppy behavior Ongoing socialization and confidence-building Daily exercise and enrichment Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Financial commitment throughout the dog's lifetime Backham will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Mental stimulation and enrichment Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, puppies like Backham grow into wonderful lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes training, exercise, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Backham will need: Ongoing puppy training and guidance Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and growth monitoring Daily exercise, enrichment, and companionship A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because Backham is still young and growing, adopters should be prepared for the normal puppy stages that include chewing, teething, accidents, testing boundaries, and continued social development. His Poodle heritage may also require regular grooming and coat maintenance throughout his life. Backham is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
