Story
Scarlett is three year old pitbull mountain Kerr mix. She is a young, energetic, loving, playful dog. She loves to cuddle and get cozy with you. Scarlet does need to be the only pet in the house. She cannot be with cats or other dogs. It is unknown how she is with kids. We never had kids in the family The youngest is me her owner I’m 22. Scarlet is a great pet and a very loving companion who will not leave your side, but unfortunately, she has been having issues with the other pets in the home and that is why we need to rehome her both the cat and the dog who she does not get along with were in the house for years prior to getting Scarlet. Although this is a very heartbreaking decision to make, I know this is what will be best for my baby. I just wish whoever is her next owner gives her all the love in the world and treats her the best they possibly can because she is a great dog and I wish I was able to keep her, But ultimately, this is the best decision for her.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Meet Elmo, a 13-week-old brindle pup, mountain cur mix (DOB 09/05/25)with a big appetite, an even bigger heart, and a curious, playful spirit. He is wonderful with small children (toddlers), loves to run full sprint outdoors, and is always up for stretching his legs before settling in for a snuggle. Elmo is obedient, highly trainable, and already pee-pad trained with a consistent outdoor potty routine, making him refreshingly predictable for a puppy his age. He enjoys resting in his own bed and can easily be taught to stay off furniture if that’s your preference. While he’s still a little unsure about cars (toys and bikes included) and anything with wheels, Elmo’s sweet, adaptable nature makes him a joy to guide as he grows. Elmo’s adoption fee is $400.  This includes age appropriate vaccines, completed wellness visit and neuter at one of our contracted vets at 6 months of age.  *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
Buddy is a young mixed-breed boy with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. He’s friendly, affectionate, and always happy to make new friends. Buddy came to our shelter from another rescue, where he was originally surrendered by his owner. According to notes from the previous shelter, Buddy did well with other animals and walked nicely on leash, making him a great companion for daily strolls and adventures. He has a gentle, loving nature and is ready to settle into a home where he can finally feel secure and cherished. Buddy is looking for a forever family who will give him the stability and love he deserves—and in return, he’ll be a loyal, happy companion by your side. Could Buddy be the missing piece in your life?

Story
Hi I'm Georgia! At 8 months old and 30 pounds my foster Mom says I'm the perfect size package! I'm a fun loving gal who enjoys playing with toys and bones and playing a nice game of fetch! I currently have several other dogs in my foster home that I get along with well, however I'm still recovering from the scars of my past of not knowing when my next meal was coming so I do need to be fed separately. I would do well with another playful dog in my home to keep me company and help with my confidence. I am working hard on learning new commands and I'm very treat motivated so training me should be fun! I am doing well at learning to live in a house but will still need guidance in my new home to ensure that I'm the best puppy that I can be. I'm being fostered in Rockford, Illinois... If you think that I sound like a good fit for your family I would love to meet you If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 6, 2026, 9:09 am
