Story
Lowery is a 3-year-old, 52 lb bundle of happiness with a personality that’s impossible not to love. We honestly have no idea what he’s mixed with — we took our best guess — but whatever the combination is, it created one amazing dog with the absolute best demeanor. Lowery is friendly, happy, and loves everyone he meets. He’s great with people and gets along well with other dogs too. One of his favorite things is cuddling up close to his people and soaking up all the love he can get. He’s also good on a leash and enjoys getting out for walks and spending time with his humans. Lowery is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, easygoing companion, Lowery might just be your perfect match.  (function () { // Only on animal detail pages if (!/\/animals\/detail/i.test(location.pathname)) return; // Debounce to avoid double-fire (touchend + click, etc.) var lastNavAt = 0; function toFullSize(url) { try { var u = new URL(url, location.href); u.searchParams.delete('width'); u.searchParams.delete('height'); return u.toString(); } catch (e) { return url || ''; } } function looksLikeAnimalPhoto(url) { return /\/pictures\/animals\/\d+\/\d+\/[^?#]+\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif)/i.test(url || ''); } function handler(e) { var el = e.target; if (!el) return; // Find the closest anchor or image in the click path var a = el.closest ? el.closest('a') : null; var img = el.closest ? el.closest('img') : null; var url = ''; // Prefer anchor href if it points to an animal photo if (a && a.getAttribute) { var href = a.getAttribute('href') || ''; if (href && (href.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(href))) { url = href; } } // Otherwise fall back to the image src if (!url && img && img.getAttribute) { var src = img.getAttribute('src') || ''; if (src && (src.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(src))) { url = src; } } if (!url) return; // Absolute URL + full-size version try { url = new URL(url, location.href).toString(); } catch (_) {} url = toFullSize(url); // Stop PrettyPhoto (and any other delegated click handlers) e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); if (e.stopImmediatePropagation) e.stopImmediatePropagation(); // Debounce var now = Date.now(); if (now - lastNavAt < 500) return; lastNavAt = now; // SAME TAB navigation to the full-size image location.href = url; } // Capture phase is the key: we get the event before PrettyPhoto. Story
Meet Arch – a rare little puppy who seems to have been born knowing how to be the perfect companion. Every once in a while a puppy comes along that makes everyone stop and wonder how he got to be so wonderful without much training or attention early in life. Arch is exactly that kind of puppy. From the moment he arrived in foster care, he has impressed everyone with his sweet nature, intelligence, and easygoing personality. Arch was born around December 8 and is a handsome brindle boy believed to be a Mountain Cur mix. At just three months old he weighs about 11 pounds, and we expect him to grow into a 35–40 pound adult depending on which side of the family tree shows up the most. One of the first things you’ll notice about Arch is his incredibly soft coat. His velvety fur makes you want to stroke his head and run your hand all the way down his back. And his personality is just as lovable as his looks. When he gets excited to see you, he hops around like a little bunny, full of joy and enthusiasm. Arch is a very people-oriented puppy. Rather than running off exploring on his own, he prefers to stay close and simply follow his people around the yard. Call his name and he comes running—his recall is already excellent and he seems to know his name right away. He’s a bright little guy who is eager to learn and connect with his humans. In his foster home, Arch lives with dogs of all sizes. He happily runs around with the big dogs and doesn’t mind the older, more serious little ladies who sometimes find his playful energy a bit much. His feelings never seem to get hurt—he just keeps bouncing along enjoying life. Like any young puppy, Arch is learning new things every day. He is currently figuring out how to walk on a leash and wear a collar for the first time. He is also working on house training and is learning both pee pads and outdoor potty breaks. He sleeps well in his crate and can usually make it almost all night. Arch is curious, alert, and full of personality. One of his favorite things is burrowing under blankets on the couch or in bed. He also has a funny little habit of collecting his foster mom’s bedroom shoes and proudly gathering them into his dog bed like treasured toys. This boy loves his meals and is always interested in whatever his humans are eating too, which will make food a great motivator for training. If you are looking for a loving, intelligent puppy who will grow into a loyal companion, Arch may be your once-in-a-lifetime dog. He has the personality, the brains, and the heart to become an incredible family member. Arch will be ready for adoption around March 20. He will be neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed before going home. Critter Cavalry Rescue adopts to Tennessee residents and can also transport to many northeastern states using a licensed animal transport service. If you would like to give this special boy a forever home, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com Please include your city and state when inquiring.     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 10, 2026, 12:27 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Nix , an irresistibly cute puppy with the most adorable, cartoon-like ears and a big personality! Nix is currently in a foster home in New Jersey, where he gets along wonderfully with his canine foster brother, attends doggy daycare a few times a week (he's a doggy daycare favorite and a social butterfly), and even commutes two hours daily with his foster mom (he's a perfect passenger prince)! Nix was previously in a board-and-train program, where he learned important skills to set him up for success. Nix is a friendly, playful boy with lots of energy, so he’ll thrive in an active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and continued training. His foster mom says he's affectionate, enjoys cuddling on the couch, and does well with kids ages 10 and up. This smart pup is already house trained, sleeps soundly in his crate through the night, and knows sit, paw, down, leave it, drop it, and come—and he’s currently working on stay. He’s also impressively calm on car rides, making him a great adventure buddy. We are looking for a forever adopter who is committed to continuing Nix’s training, helping him build on the great foundation he’s already started. With the right home, Nix is going to grow into an amazing companion.   Could you be the one to give this sweet, silly boy the loving home he deserves? Nix is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Nix has been neutered and has a microchip. His adoption fee is $550.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Alyssa is ready to begin her next chapter! This beautiful girl arrived in her New Jersey foster home on 1/10, and little by little, she’s discovering how wonderful life can be. At just about 40–42 pounds and around 1 year old, Alyssa is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. Shelter life was overwhelming for Alyssa. Loud noises and constant activity left her shy and unsure — but behind her soft eyes is a deeply loving, loyal soul who truly wants to connect. With patience and reassurance, she has started to blossom. She happily takes treats, leans in for gentle pets, and each day grows a little braver. Alyssa absolutely adores other dogs and feels safest with a canine companion by her side. Right now, she’s besties with her foster brother Gus, and she follows his lead with comfort and confidence. Because she gains so much reassurance from another dog, we believe Alyssa would thrive in a home with a friendly, confident pup to help guide her. She’s also true “best friend” material for her person. Once she bonds, she bonds deeply. Alyssa is very attached to her foster mom and loves with her whole heart. When she feels safe, she’s happiest cuddled on the couch, soaking up affection and simply being near her person. Alyssa at a glance: About 1 year old, ~40–42 lbs Spayed Housebroken & crate trained Walks beautifully on a leash Loves other dogs and would thrive with a canine companion Very devoted and forms a strong bond with her person Best in a home without small children, as sudden noises and movements can frighten her Shy at first, but incredibly loving once she feels safe Alyssa doesn’t need a fence — just a calm, patient home filled with kindness, understanding, and ideally, a doggy friend. In return, she will give you a once-in-a-lifetime bond and the sweetest, most loyal love. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who will blossom right before your eyes and become your very best friend, Alyssa is waiting for you. Alyssa is fixed and up to date on shots. Her  adoption fee is $450.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption.
