Story
Bonded Pair - Must Adopt Both Together! Jax (6) and Koda (4) are both rescues and have been living together for around 5yrs. We adopted Jax as a puppy and he has been with us since he was 9 weeks old. We adopted Koda in 2020 as a companion for Jax; he was around 6mos old when we adopted him. They are both amazing, loving dogs that we are very reluctant to give up. However, we recently welcomed our daughter to the family and both had promotions at work, so we unfortunately no longer have the requisite time available to give them the amount of attention they deserve. Jax and Koda will thrive in a home that has a fenced backyard to play in. They would be great for a family with grown children that can run around with them. Our daughter is now 16mos and there have been no real problems other than some chewed toys and missing snacks, so they would do well with small children as well, but would likely enjoy the company and energy of bigger kids that can play with them.

Story
Leaf is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix we’ve been fostering through the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC. He’s a sweet, loyal, and intelligent dog with a big heart. While he’s fearful around new people (especially men) and some dogs, he warms up within a few days and becomes incredibly affectionate. We’re looking for a patient and loving home where Leaf can continue to grow. He thrives in a calm environment with people who can help him work through his anxieties. He loves car rides and makes a great travel companion. Though Leaf has challenges like separation anxiety and occasional reactivity, his potential to flourish with the right family is immense. With love and attention, he will make an amazing companion.

Story
Cheeseburger was rescued just before the pandemic when my grandmother witnessed her neighbor hit him with a truck. There were many surgeries involved in repairing the damage to his hind leg, but miraculously he made a full recovery. We chose to adopt him knowing my grandmother couldn't handle caring for him, but our schedules have grown too busy to continue. He has the energy and mindset of a puppy still, he is very jumpy and playful but not aggressive. He has never bitten anything or anyone, with the exception of maybe nipping the fingers when being handed a treat. He does chase after cats playfully but backs off and runs away immediately when they swat at him. He desperately wants to play with other dogs, he tends to annoy them but will not hurt them. He is crate trained and goes out to the bathroom at set times of the day.
