If you are interested in adopting this dog, complete an Adoption Questionnaire at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process visiting:  http://www/k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/Dog's Name:   Nugget (NUG1122JNSFS)Estimated Breed :    Pointer mix Approximate Age:   2 yrsApproximate Weight: approx. 50 lbsCurrently Living at:  BoardingAdoption Fee:  $375DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Hi, I'm Nugget and I'm a pretty happy and fun-loving gal. I love to play but I am pretty high energy and while I can play well with other dogs, I'm not so keen on toy sharing, so I'd be best in a home without another dog, and with older children only. I'm still very puppy-ish, so I will need training and direction so I know what is expected of me! With my super friendly nature, I will make a great companion on all of your adventures!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Because of his size and energy, Bogey would do best in a home with no small children and a nice yard where he can romp and run. He wants to play with other dogs, but comes on a little strong for some of them. He needs to learn boundaries and personal space when it comes to making canine friends, so he may need some guidance. He is a big goofball and loves soft toys that he can carry around. If you give Bogey a chance, he is sure to bring happiness and laughter to your home every single day!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. She is crate and housetrained and will do better with older kids, 12 years and over. Delilah is good girl, but she can be anxious when meeting new people, particularly men, and she does have a strong prey drive. She would do best in a home with no small pets. Here is what she has to say about her: "Freckles and my dog Teddy get along well. She was a little skittish around him at first because he wanted to play, is big, and is vocal when he plays. But she's caught on to his cues and they have become friends. She is not sleeping in the crate.  She was very panicky in the crate after the first night so I decided not to press that.Freckles is not destructive at all and just sleeps on the couch at night. I have cameras all over my house so I can watch her at night or when I'm out. She doesn't appear to have separation anxiety or anything like that. Her favorites include laying in the grass, playing with a ball, zooming, destroying fluffy toys (she doesn't swallow any of the fluff) and snuggling on the couch. She has been around men and women without any problem. She has seen my cat several times and doesn't seem to care. We haven't been around kids yet, but I have no doubt she would be fine. Freckles is going to love her person, whoever adopts her, and will be very loyal to that person. She has no interest in leaving my side! The biggest issue she seems to have right now is getting frightened while on walks. Things like big buses, loud cars, or sudden movements seem to jar her a bit. Though she recovers quickly a busy city would probably not be a good fit for her.  She seems interested in other dogs and is very playful. She's learning to walk on a leash. She's not great, but she's also not bad at all. All in all, she's a lovely dog!" Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
