You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lily, a 9 lb., 6.5 yr old Pomeranian X. She came into rescue after her first family decided she wasn’t wanted anymore and her second owner got cancer and could no longer care for her.  Lily has been through a lot of stress in her life time being largely ignored and then yelled at for barking and begging for attention. Because of this, she often becomes anxious from various triggers such as, watching someone get ready to leave or coming home after being out for a few hours that causes her to bark to tell you how upset she is. Sometimes Lily barks to tell you she needs attention or some kind of stimulation as well.   When she has felt traumatized, like after her spay, she retreats under a bed for long periods of time.    According to her last owner’s vet, Lily has pancreatitis so her diet has to be somewhat regulated. She came into rescue with lots of homeopathic remedies for this plus her anxiety. As her foster, I’m not certain if they make a difference but, I use them to keep things status quo. Despite all of her quirks, Lily is very sweet and loving. She looks for her human to sit down and offer a lap for her to jump on then, will turn on her back insisting to be held like a baby for pets and belly rubs.  Lily is also house trained and knows how to sit and stay nicely. She loves going for walks and playing with toys or playing games of chase in the yard. Most any form of positive attention makes her happy.   Other: Lily has a long, thick coat so regular grooming will be needed. Because of neglect most of her teeth had to be removed. She does well with eating most things but she’s used to a fresh diet from Chuck and Don’s that runs on the expensive side.  Her next home needs to be very patient and accepting of all of the baggage she comes with. Meet Banshee Almost Home Foster Kennels, MN Lic. 132328 is a 501c3, not-for-profit, foster-based, rescue organization. AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Banshee. Banshee is 5 years of age. She is a breeder-release. She is a Apricot & White Pomeranian. She is cautious when meeting new people and situations. She will approach her human. She has not been socialized thoroughly with humans, but she does get along with other dogs. Because she is a breeder-release, with will require more time to adapt to an in-home life. She is crated at night and keeps her bedding clean. She loves to run in a fenced yard...who wouldn't? It was a first for her to touch the ground and run freely upon coming into rescue. She will, with time, patience and love, make a perfect family pet. We are looking for a family with at least one parent who works from home or is a stay-at-home pet parent. When transitioning to a new home, please allow 6--10we eks for Banshee to adjust. She will need this time to decompress and adjust to a new routine, schedule, and environment. During this time, we will provide check-ins and suggestions to ensure a successful transition. I may be a Pom mix weighing in at a petite 15 pounds, but my personality is larger than life. At home, I'm sweet, gentle, and playful—a true good girl through and through. I'm still learning to trust humans, so meeting new people can make me a bit shy. But once I warm up to you, I'm all about those cuddles and scratches. Oh, and chin and back scratches? Count me in! When I'm not snuggling up next to my foster mom, you'll find me napping in cozy dog beds or tearing up the backyard with some epic zoomies. I absolutely adore playing with other dogs, and I'm always up for a game of fetch or tug-of-war. Plus, I'm a foodie at heart—I'll do just about anything for some tasty treats like garbanzo beans, carrots, or chicken. Potty training is coming along nicely, I’m working on doing my business outside or on a washable potty pad indoors. While I'm crate trained and ride like a champ in the car, I feel most comfortable in an x-pen or gated area when left alone. Oh, and did I mention I'm a fantastic mama? I raised six adorable puppies like a boss! But those days are over and I’m ready to be the center of attention. Although I'm still working on leash training, I'm getting better every day. I'll need a fenced yard and a patient owner who can help me build confidence and continue my training. When it comes to grooming, I'm a trooper. I did great at the groomer for my bath and nail trim, even if the dryer was a bit scary. And I'm totally cool with daily brushing sessions at home. Sure, I may bark at strangers or get a little spooked from time to time, but deep down, I'm just a sweet and loving girl looking for my forever home. I’m Beans & Rice…no, I’m not really food…that’s just my name! Hee, hee! I am a stunning albeit VERY shy & fearful young adult female Pomapoo. I enjoy chewing on rubbery things like bully sticks & Nyla bones, eating freeze dried chicken & liver treats, and when I think nobody’s watching me, I love to sneak around and explore everything! Hee, hee!! I have come a long way since joining my foster family and they are so proud of me! I have started to show interest in what they are doing and will occasionally wander into the kitchen to see what is cooking. Some would call me a foodie because I do love mealtime! I even let my people know with a little barking how excited I am at mealtime. I’m working on potty training and although I’m leash trained, I will need my new yard to be securely fenced to ensure my safety. I also know what “wait”, “outside”, and “go potty” mean so you can see I’m quite smart! I’m a quiet girl who has not met any cats or larger dogs and I’m fearful of loud noises, commotion, & people. In fact, although I’m good with kids, I’m fearful of people I don’t even like to be picked up until we get to know each other. I just don’t have a lot of experience with trusting people so having another dog in my forever home is important to show me how to trust people and get on a routine. That said, since coming to live with foster mom I have made, what I consider, a LOT of progress although VERY SLOWLY and on my own terms. I am most comfortable in my safe spot (dog bed) where I can observe the goings on around me. Foster mom was SO excited that I not only tried out the dog bed but love it! See…I’m making progress…It's the small things am I right!?! Anyway, I have also started to initiate play with my two small senior canine sibs, but it must be said that I’m not a fan of the puppy mom’s fostering. Additionally, I have tolerated foster mom putting harnesses that make that terrifying Velcro sound & cones on my neck; giving me oral liquid medications; bathing & brushing my beautiful coat; and trimming my nails…all of it!! So clearly, I’m trying diligently to conquer my fears because honestly, I want nothing more than to trust people and be comfortable in my world! I am a preciously sweet and timid girl who truly deserves unconditional love & security from a patient fur-ever family that not only promises to NEVER give up on me but who will give me the time & space I need. Yes, it may take quite a bit of time for me to be comfortable and learn to trust but I assure you not only am I worth it, but I will love you more than you could ever imagine!!!
