Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well I was 'purchased' by a senior citizen.  He was 78 and I was a puppy :(  I had to be around really big dogs.  By the time I was 2 I had learned that I needed to protect myself.  My owner had realized he was to old to handle a puppy.  To say it was a mess was an understatement :(   My owners daughter started calling all around looking for help to place me.  She told the people I was food aggressive, dog aggressive and only liked males so of course most rescues the SPCA included didn't want anything to do with me :(Lucky for me Lynn decided she wanted to meet me.  She took my leash and we went for a walk.  I just knew by the way she walked with me that she was in charge and I didn't have to be.  She picked me up and carried me for a little while and I decided I liked it!She brought this big dog Millie into the play yard.  Oh no I was scared but Lynn seemed to think it would be alright so I decided to see what would happen.  Millie was very nice and she gave me my space hmmmm I think I might be OK with dogs.  The next day I came for a visit at the ranch for the day.  I met ALL the dogs and it was OK no one wanted to hurt me!!  Now I run around the ranch and I am part of the pack and guess what I like EVERYONE!  I'm even OK with female humans!!!  Life is GREAT!!  PLEASE if you are a senior be smart and don't get a young dog get a dog that is more your age and activity level and one that won't be left behind to start over when you are gone.  Its not fair.  I know other people can take the dog but boy would you like to have your world turned upside down and start all over again just because someone was selfish enough to not think ahead???MUST HAVE FENCED YARD AND ANOTHER DOG Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!February 20, 2024, 4:04 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Niko is a healthy, playful almost 2-year old little boy who is a total lover pants! He absolutely loves to snuggle and gives kisses. He makes the cutest little blinkies when you give him a good scritch and is quick to flash some belly for some rubs. What Niko needs to thrive in his furever home: Someone who is home most of the time because he wants lot of love and playtime! to deter his separation anxiety He loves to play tug with his stuffed avocado but if foster mom is on a work call, he is content to curl up in his bed in her office with his nylabone. - He would love to have a four-legged playmate. His senior foster fursibling does not care for Niko's vibe but he desperately wishes she would play with him. - Patience - he may have a little separation anxiety that either could be helped with some extra confidence building or, if you find it severe enough, chat with your vet for options. - Belly bands/diapers/pee pee pads/structure - he's not fully housetrained yet but we're working on it. He is pretty good with the pee pee pads but does occasionally find somewhere with a little more 'privacy'. - Niko has springs in his feet! He loves to bounce and he gets pretty good hang time! He also enjoys a good climb so be careful with any open-top kennels or fencing that may just be a rock-climbing adventure for him. - He can be a little mouthy sometimes but he's not actively trying to bite. For this reason, I would caution against a household with young children. Older kids who understand that he just needs to be told 'kisse's, not bities' would be fine though. He does switch to kisses quickly after a gentle reminder. - He seems to love being outside. Having access to a secured yard or at least someone who lets him out throughout the day for playtime, walks, etc. would be perfect. - A big bed to share with his people. When the lights go out, he immediately settles down and will curl up in the crook of your knees. He'll stay up on the bed with you the whole night. To adopt Niko, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 23, 2024, 2:33 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sable is a beautiful 14 year old 12 pound senior girl looking for her happily ever after! She was a loyal companion all her life, but a new girlfriend demanded she be gone, but that's okay because the poor girl desperately needed vet care. Sable is hearing impaired but responds to whistles and finds you with bumps or vibration. She gets excited when she finds you to get her scratches and play. She is also vision impaired, but it doesn't slow her down one bit because she quickly learns the layout of new places. She even does a few steps to get in and out of the yard. Sable is house trained to use pee pads or go outside, accepts a harness and leash, and prefers a home with other dogs. She isn't a fan of grooming so she gets a little sedative pill before any spa days. Sable may be a senior but she is healthy, spry, smart, and playful just looking for a loving family! To adopt Sable, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, urinalysis, spay, dental, enucleation, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 23, 2024, 2:33 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.WallE is a big beautiful 20 pound, 5 year old Pomeranian looking for his perfect home. He is highly trained, loyal, and sweet as can be, BUT that's only with his people. You see WallE wasn't well socialized so new things cause him anxiety that make him bark to warn people he is scared. A home wothout children is a must. We have put WallE on anxiety meds and worked with him on new things and he has improved greatly, but he will need continued work, patience and understanding in his new home. He would love to be an only dog, and it would be best for him to have a home as an only pet. WallE prefers women, but does accept men after some time to adjust. WallE is leash trained, crate trained, house trained, rides well in a car, and healthy. Now all he needs is his happily ever after! To adopt WallE, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, neuter, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 23, 2024, 2:33 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Are you ready to welcome Pepper and Chloe Jean into your family? They are a bonded pair mother-daughter duo of gorgeous black Poms looking for love! Pepper is 6 years old and weighs 9 pounds, while her daughter Chloe is 3 years old and weighs 10 pounds. They are very playful, sweet and affectionate little ladies who love to chase each other around. These girls do need a home with a fenced yard, where they can run freely and safely. They also need a home where other pets aren't pushovers, because Pepper can try to be dominate towards other dogs. This behavior has improved since coming into rescue, and with other dogs that don't tolerate the behavior has shown Pepper it isnt acceptable. Once they settle into a new home, they are both house trained and leash trained for walks. They do love to eat, and Chloe likes to steal everyones food so keeping her seperated for mealtimes is important. Pepper and Chloe Jean enjoy lounging on the sofa and watching the world go by, but they also love to cuddle with you. They are looking for a loving and permanent home, where they can be happy and healthy for the rest of their days! To adopt Pepper and Chloe Jean, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $600 adoption donation for this bonded pair ($500 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, bloodwork, microchip, spay, dental, and all the love you can handle!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 23, 2024, 2:33 pm
