Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Landenberg, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Sweetie! Sweetie is a 11-year-old, 12 lb, Pomeranian who was abandoned by her family at a shelter without her seizure medication. She was quickly timestamped and we rushed to bring her into our rescue. Without knowing Sweetie’s medical history, it took several weeks to figure out the correct medications and dosages to prevent her seizures. This little girl is resilient though and now only has a seizure on rare occasion. Sweetie takes two different medications for her seizures and the cost for these is around $40 a month. One medication needs to be given twice a day, and the other three times a day, so an owner who is home more than not is ideal. Sweetie has good vision and hearing, and the only other veterinary service she required was a dental. She can handle stairs and walks well on a leash. Due to her history with seizures, for safety, Sweetie needs to sleep in a dog bed on the floor. She is fully potty trained and is good with dogs and kids. Sweetie will occasionally bark at a dog on a walk, but is very friendly.  Sweetie enjoys being outside and gets excited for walks. She is good with being picked up but also has an independent side. Sweetie loves her food and snuggling in bed and will make a wonderful companion for some lucky person. Please let it be you. Apply today!

Story
Meet Jarvis. Jarvis was adopted in 2015 to a family that said they could & would give him a forever home. Things changed, and they could no longer take care of Jarvis so poor Jarvis ended back into rescue. Even though he seems to be having a blast, we need to find him a home that will provide him a loving forever home. Jarvis is about 16 pounds which is small to most people but he’s in a foster home with mostly chihuahuas not weighing more than 10 pounds. His foster mom describes him as a big dog in a small dogs body. Jarvis is a good boy that has lots of energy so it’s important to know he will need walks, running and playing with another dog or fetch with his human. Jarvis has met many dogs in foster care and has done super well. Jarvis does not do well meeting new people and is very protective of his home so we are looking for an adopter that can handle this and work with Jarvis so he learns he doesn’t need to be the protector, his human will protect him instead. Jarvis is updated on vaccines, was neutered & chipped too. If you think you got what it takes please email AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com and request an application. His cuteness is a bonus!

Story
Applicants need to be within 1 hour drive from Claymont, DE 19703. Noah was surrendered to AOL Animal Rescue when his previous family could no longer care for him. Noah is 7 years old and they had him since he was a puppy. Noah was so shy, scared and quiet his first week or so in his foster home. Noah is no longer any of those, especially quiet. This guy has a lot to say, and if you tell him you don’t want to hear it, he totally ignores you. Noah was previously an only dog so it took him time to adjust to the others. Noah could live with another dog, depending on the other dog’s personality. He has’t yet played with anyone yet. He did get the zoomies when it was just him and foster mom in the back yard so he is happy when it’s all about him. Noah is now crate trained, although he doesn’t appreciate being crated unless he has had the opportunity to use up some of his energy, which he has a lot of! Noah could live with a cat that will stand up for itself and not run away. Noah will chase them if they run. We will be taking Noah out more not that him and foster mom know each other and he is recovered from his neuter. His last ride in the car he reverted back to being very nervous, so he may not ever be too comfy in car rides, but he may get better. As scared as he was in the beginning, he never showed any aggression. Stay tuned for more info but if you like so far what you read and would like to meet Noah, email or call us and we will send out an application. His videos will be on our YouTube page later today too. AOLanimalrescue@gmail.com (302)272-5655

Story
Bree is being fostered in NJ. Her name is Bree but you could also call her Little Miss Perfect! Bree adjusted to her foster home with no problem and immediately found her way around and knew how to get our attention when she needs to go outside. She has the playfulness of a puppy - if you bring Bree into your family, have plenty of squeaky toys on hand. She loves to destroy them! Bree is also happy to sit on your lap or next to you as you relax. She enjoys "watching" TV and will bark if she hears a dog on the screen. She is also a good car rider. She is a well-mannered little girl who knows her manners, like to sit when receiving a treat. And she does expect a treat when she comes back inside from going potty. Bree mostly sleeps in her own dog bed at night, but will sometimes want to sleep in the bed next to someone. Since going blind, she can be reactive when another dog invades her space, or even if Bree invades their space. We've had a few spats but everyone has come out unharmed. It is best to feed Bree in her own space. Even though Bree is a senior dog, she has plenty of playful years ahead of her and will be a joy to any family who adopts her. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
