He will let you know when he needs to go out and do his business.  Leash training is a work in progress.  He is smart and eager to please. He requires daily eye drops and has limited vision in his left eye. Story
Meet Charlie – 36 pounds of snuggly chaos wrapped in a Beagle/Pug mystery blend, aged 3 years and powered by pure zest for life. Charlie is a snuggle monster, a burrow king, and your future workout partner (just try keeping up when he gets the zoomies). He’s got two moods: full-throttle playtime where he bounces, nips, and leaps like a caffeinated kangaroo, and snuggle mode, where he melts into you like a fuzzy, face-loving marshmallow. He LOVES his human—like, can-I-put-my-nose-right-on-your-nose levels of love. He’s got a serious craving for affection and scratches, and when the cuddles are over, he’s happy to tunnel under the covers like a sleepy mole preparing for winter. And here’s the plot twist: Charlie is super treat-motivated—a fact that’s turning him into a very trainable little legend. With treats in hand, he’s shown major progress walking near other dogs and people. Public outings used to be a bit of a rodeo, but now? With the right snacks, he’s practically a model citizen. He’s met strangers and been his charming, friendly self. So yes, this boy has potential and snacks are the key to unlocking it. 💩 House trained? Absolutely. 🛏️ Crate trained? Yup. 🐶 Great with other dogs? Not even a little bit. He’s not here to make canine friends, okay? He wants to be your one and only fur-child and will bark, lunge, and generally make his “no thanks” very clear when other pups are around. Now, a few quirky notes on Charlie’s resume: 👉 He’s had a moment or two of questionable decision-making, including a bold leap at the Foster’s neighbor (mostly jacket-focused) and a few overly enthusiastic nips during playtime with the Foster’s boyfriend. Nothing too dramatic, but it does mean Charlie would do best in a home with someone experienced, patient, and able to set clear boundaries (and maybe skip crowded hallways). Charlie’s got big love and big personality—he just needs a human who can work with him on his impulse control. With some structure, love, snacks (seriously, snacks), and solo-dog status, he’s going to be your ride-or-die blanket burrower, hike buddy, and personal bodyguard (whether or not you asked for one). Adopt Charlie—because under that slightly spicy exterior is a total marshmallow just waiting to snuggle into your heart… and your bed. If you are interested in finding out more about Charlie, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Charlie is being fostered in Boston, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet me by appointment in my foster home in Carmel, NY I am from a litter of 11 pups nick named the “Tree Pups”. There is no way to know if we all have the same parents, but we came into the shelter together, we had a rough start but got so lucky that we ended up at a shelter where they found us rescues to take us and help find us forever homes. We are happy, loving, and eager to please. What we are is a true mystery and our breed(s) are a best guess by physical traits. How to meet dogs listed with “NY” : • If the dog is listed with an ‘Avail date” and a (location) – the dog cannot be met until the event and it is a first come, first served adoption event with the dogs being met in the order the potential adopters sign in. • If the dog is listed as being in a (foster home) please email us at info@pawsafe.org and we will set up an appointment for you to meet the dog(s) that interest you at their foster home(s). **** We are sorry, but we cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents. This is due to a Ma Dept. of Agriculture policy, not ours.

Story
Meet Poppy & Peanut – The Perfect Pair of Pug Love   Double the pugs, double the love! Meet Poppy and Peanut, a bonded brother-and-sister duo of purebred pugs who just turned one year old—and they’re ready to melt your heart. These two are the definition of inseparable: where one waddles, the other is close behind, sharing every cuddle, nap, and toy with total devotion.   Sadly, their loving owner had to make the heartbreaking decision to give them up due to sudden health issues and a necessary move. But now, Poppy and Peanut are looking for a forever home together—because their bond is something truly special, and they thrive in each other’s company.   These adorable little nuggets are affectionate beyond belief. Whether they’re curled up in your lap, snuggling next to you on the couch, or napping peacefully at your feet, they just want to be near their people (and each other). They’re well-behaved and trained to use puppy pads, though they’re happy to do their business outside when given the chance. Bedtime and naptime? No problem—they settle down like champs, especially when they have each other close by.   They adore stuffed animals, belly rubs, and anyone who’s willing to love on them. Honestly, they’re gems—sweet-natured, well-adjusted, and just plain adorable. Keeping them together isn’t just the right choice—it’s the best one. Because Poppy and Peanut are more than just pets; they’re a built-in duo of joy, snuggles, and silly pug antics.   If you’re ready to open your heart and home to twice the love, contact us to meet Poppy and Peanut. Two pugs, one perfect pair—waiting just for you.    Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com and ask for an application    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 17, 2025, 7:36 pm
