Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Burns (pawaffectionrescue@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Nearly two-year-old Skippy is a silly, energetic boy who will do great with all people and older children.  He gets along very well with other dogs so a companion pup would make him very happy or an active family that will keep him busy.   When he is not playing with his toys or fellow foster pup, he is very content in cuddling on his foster dad’s lap. He will let you know when he needs to go out and do his business.  Leash training is a work in progress but he is smart and eager to please so with a little time and patience he should be an old pro in no time. He requires daily eye drops and has limited vision in his left eye. Story
If grumpy gargoyle grandmas are your thing, then boy, do we have the dog for you. Lola is a 15-year-old mixed-breed beauty with a personality as big as her round belly. Lola has lost a good amount of weight with us - now weighing 22lbs - and should definitely stay on her diet for her joints. Since arriving, Lola has made so much progress. With some weight loss, laser therapy, and daily opportunities to explore and build strength, her mobility has improved significantly. Her back end will always be a bit unsteady, but she can now walk up and down a ramp and has far more good days than bad. We just started her on monthly Librela injections and the improvement has been incredible. That said, Lola's hind end is sensitive and likely has been for a long time. She does not like to be picked up and will tell you so the only way she knows how: by nipping. Thankfully, she's pretty independent. On the rare occasion we do need to lift her, we use a blanket to protect our hands and to ensure her whole body is supported so it does not cause her pain. Because of her physical sensitivity and communication style, we recommend an experienced home without children. Lola gets along well with other dogs who respect her space. She has a hard time with blind pups because she’s constantly on high alert trying to stop them from bumping into her sensitive legs. With the right match, she can live with other dogs. Just don't expect her to share snacks! Lola prefers to dine by herself and will guard her favorite thing (food) from other pets. Lola is spayed, up to date on vaccines, has had full bloodwork, and has been treated for a UTI and ear infections. She does have a grade 3 heart murmur but does not require medication at this time. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Story
Meet Charlie – 36 pounds of snuggly chaos wrapped in a Beagle/Pug mystery blend, aged 3 years and powered by pure zest for life. Charlie is a snuggle monster, a burrow king, and your future workout partner (just try keeping up when he gets the zoomies). He’s got two moods: full-throttle playtime where he bounces, nips, and leaps like a caffeinated kangaroo, and snuggle mode, where he melts into you like a fuzzy, face-loving marshmallow. He LOVES his human—like, can-I-put-my-nose-right-on-your-nose levels of love. He’s got a serious craving for affection and scratches, and when the cuddles are over, he’s happy to tunnel under the covers like a sleepy mole preparing for winter. And here’s the plot twist: Charlie is super treat-motivated—a fact that’s turning him into a very trainable little legend. With treats in hand, he’s shown major progress walking near other dogs and people. Public outings used to be a bit of a rodeo, but now? With the right snacks, he’s practically a model citizen. He’s met strangers and been his charming, friendly self. So yes, this boy has potential and snacks are the key to unlocking it. 💩 House trained? Absolutely. 🛏️ Crate trained? Yup. 🐶 Great with other dogs? Not even a little bit. He’s not here to make canine friends, okay? He wants to be your one and only fur-child and will bark, lunge, and generally make his “no thanks” very clear when other pups are around. Now, a few quirky notes on Charlie’s resume: 👉 He’s had a moment or two of questionable decision-making, including a bold leap at the Foster’s neighbor (mostly jacket-focused) and a few overly enthusiastic nips during playtime with the Foster’s boyfriend. Nothing too dramatic, but it does mean Charlie would do best in a home with someone experienced, patient, and able to set clear boundaries (and maybe skip crowded hallways). Charlie’s got big love and big personality—he just needs a human who can work with him on his impulse control. With some structure, love, snacks (seriously, snacks), and solo-dog status, he’s going to be your ride-or-die blanket burrower, hike buddy, and personal bodyguard (whether or not you asked for one). Adopt Charlie—because under that slightly spicy exterior is a total marshmallow just waiting to snuggle into your heart… and your bed. If you are interested in finding out more about Charlie, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Charlie is being fostered in Boston, MA. The adoption fee is $450. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
