Story
Meet Moses! He's a 35 pound Jack Russell/Rat Terrier Mix and is about 6 years old. I adopted him from a rescue organization about 2 years ago. For health reasons, I've made the difficult decision to rehome Moses.Once he gets to know you, Moses is such a sweet, cuddly, protective, loyal lap dog and loves to play and burrow under blankets. He has a lot of energy and loves being outside. Make Moses yours!

Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    July 16, 2026, 8:58 pm

Layla can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but with patience and kindness, you’ll quickly see her true personality shine. She does love all people, especially the ones that want a lap dog once she's done playing for the day.  When she feels safe, her sweet, submissive nature blossoms, making her an easy girl to love. She’s not a barker, so she would be okay for apartment/condo living, but she gets distracted by city activity and might do better in a quieter area.     Layla's favorite things are belly rubs and other dogs! She enjoys canine companionship and would likely thrive in a home with a friendly doggy buddy to help her continue building confidence. She really loves playing with her foster siblings, and she also enjoys watching the sights and sounds in her foster's garden. Her prey drive is pretty low; she watches the birds, bunnies, and squirrels, so she potentially could work with other animals in the home as well.     Layla is a special little gem who is searching for a caring family that will give her the love, security, and patience she deserves. Could you be the one to show Layla what forever truly means?  Apply today!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet in obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse the adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Now that her babies are off to begin their new lives, it's finally her turn to be spoiled, cherished, and loved the way she deserves.  This precious little lady is as sweet as they come. She can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but give her a little time and you'll soon find her happily curled up in your lap. Once she trusts you, she's an affectionate, devoted companion who simply wants to be close to her people.  She would do best with kids over 10. Dolly Belle gets along wonderfully with other male dogs, big and small, and would fit right into a home with canine companions! She would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. At her ideal small size, she's easy to scoop up for snuggles, take along on adventures, or simply enjoy as your constant sidekick. She also has a medium to low energy level, walks beautifully on a leash, and is just as content with a leisurely stroll as she is relaxing at home by your side. Dolly Belle is potty trained and crate trained and knows some commands. Apply to make this little darling yours today! Story
Meet Gemma. Part couch potato, part tiny queen, part weather critic. Gemma is a 9-year-old Rat Terrier mix with a soft heart, a love of routine, and extremely strong opinions about wet grass. If the lawn is damp, she will do everything in her power to avoid touching it — a level of dramatic commitment that her foster both respects and fears. At home, Gemma is affectionate, loyal, and happiest curled up beside her people enjoying a quiet day indoors. She loves snacks, cuddles, calm environments, and getting your full attention. Her foster says she has the sweetest little whine when she wants more affection, which is often because Gemma firmly believes cuddling is a full-time job. She’s crate trained, low energy, walks nicely on leash, and gets along well with calm dogs and cats. Excitable dogs who invade her personal space, however, are not her thing. Gemma prefers a peaceful home where everyone respects boundaries — especially during mealtime. She does guard her food and needs a family who will simply feed her separately and leave her alone while she eats. With that easy management in place, Gemma settles beautifully into home life. She’s also not a fan of being picked up, so her ideal adopter will understand that love sometimes means meeting a dog where they’re comfortable and letting trust build naturally. Because of this, Gemma is looking for an adult-only home without children where she can feel safe, understood, and relaxed. Gemma is looking for a quiet, stable home with soft places to nap, predictable routines, and people who appreciate a slightly opinionated little dog with a huge capacity for love. We just welcomed 9 year 13 lb female rat terrier mix Gemma. Fostered in Gaithersburg, MD Please apply at mirishaven.org
