Meet Lily, a sweet 10 year old rat terrier mix! This adorable senior is super loving and gets along well with people, dogs, and even cats! Sadly in her golden years, her previous owners surrendered her to the NYC ACC (city shelter) which is how she came to Waggytail. Lily likes a slower pace of life, and is more interested in people watching on walks than actually walking... but will happily accompany you to sit in the park any day of the week.
Lily has a very round appearance due to something called Cushing’s disease, a common syndrome in middle aged and older dogs where their bodies produce too much cortisol, which can cause enlarged organs and different infections. Lily is on a daily medication for Cushing’s and to prevent UTIs and is doing well. She will need routine monitoring under a vets care, such as bloodwork and Cushing's related testing to make sure her medications are working properly. Lily is pretty much unphased by her Cushing’s and continues to be the sweetest girl! She LOVES people (especially kids), other dogs, and even cats. Lily is housetrained and crate trained and knows how to sit (and beg!) for treats.
Lily would love another dog in the home to trot after on walks or share a bed with, but would also be happy as an only pet with someone who understands and loves senior dogs. She is a very sweet girl who is looking for someone to give her a second chance at a loving family. Just look at those sweet brown eyes!
Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. Heartworm, flea/tick prevention due 10/1.
To apply for Lily, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
