Story
Meet bruce 8 month old Rottweiler/argentino mix. He can be a bit hard headed and dominate. With research of the 2 breeds he needs to have "a job" to work his mind , with his size he is deffinetly not one for an apartment/condo. He needs a yard. Bruce is potty trained and kennel trained. Bruce needs more. His ideal place/person would be someone who knows how to work with large dogs who are dominate and hard headed. Although he lives with a cat im not totally sure how he will do with them he is extremly interested in them but our cat hides so hes never fully met one. Would be best as an only child

Story
Meet Amara — the Rottweiler with the sweetest soul and the cutest wiggle when you hit the right scratch spot. Amara is a lovely medium-energy girl who enjoys a good balance of activity and relaxation. She’s mostly laid back and easygoing, but every now and then she’ll show off her playful side — especially if there’s a toy involved! Toss one her way and you’ll see her light up. She walks nicely on leash and handles her kennel time like a champ, making her an easy addition to just about any routine. Amara is very treat motivated (hello, training opportunities!) and loves learning — especially when snacks are part of the deal. Her absolute favorite thing? Booty scratches. Give her a good scratch and you’ll be rewarded with happy wiggles and a big Rottie grin. She’s fantastic with people and truly just enjoys being near her humans. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who can hang out on the couch but still enjoy some playtime in the yard, Amara may be your girl.    Amara was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2667598##

Story
Lady is a gentle, sensitive soul who is looking for a calm and patient home where she can truly blossom. She can be skittish at first — especially around men — and may bark when she feels unsure. Because of this, she’ll need extra time and understanding in a home where men are present. With consistency and kindness, she does begin to relax and build trust. Once Lady feels safe, her sweet personality shines. She is incredibly loving, enjoys being held, and happily melts into cuddles and pets. She forms strong bonds with her people and will be a deeply loyal companion. Lady is very food motivated, which is helpful for building confidence and continuing her training. She’s still gaining courage when it comes to walks and currently prefers the safety of home and yard time. She has started playing in the yard and is making small but meaningful progress every day. She will even go into her crate on her own with the door open to rest, showing she’s learning to feel secure in her space. Lady will thrive in a quiet home with consistent, patient people who can help her continue building confidence at her own pace. In return, she will offer unwavering love, loyalty, and the sweetest cuddles. Lady was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She was at risk of euthanasia with her puppies due to overcrowding, but was able to be rescued in time.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Story
Puppies are a lot of fun, but also a lot of responsibility! Things you should be aware of before adopting a puppy from the Denver Animal Shelter:* Puppies will need regular socialization. The critical time period for socialization is between 8 and 16 weeks, but it is important to continue to socialize your new pup throughout their young life. This means having positive and enjoyable interactions with as many new people, new dogs, and new environments as possible. Appropriate socialization will help puppies grow into healthier and more social adults.* They will not know what is appropriate to chew on, where they should go to the bathroom, and how to behave in all situations. Puppies require a lot of time spent on training, management, and supervision. It is recommended that puppies be crate trained or kept in a puppy-proofed room of the house with appropriate chew toys and enrichment when not actively supervised. The Denver Animal Shelter always recommends positive reinforcement-based training methods. * Puppies in a shelter environment often have unknown parentage. While we make our best guesses on size and breed, we cannot guarantee their adult temperament, behavior, size, or characteristics.
