She may be a little shy at first, but with time, patience, and a few tasty treats, she'll warm up and show you her sweet, loving personality. Maci absolutely loves playing with other friendly dogs and would enjoy a canine companion in her new home. She has briefly met cats but isn't quite sure what to make of them, her strategy so far has been to run past them as fast as possible (smart girl!). She's house-trained, knows how to use a doggy door, and walks nicely on a leash. Maci knows basic commands, and her foster family is continuing to work on building her confidence. Because of her shy nature, she'd do best in a calmer home, and if there are kids, they should be at least 8 years old, as younger children may be a bit overwhelming for her. Despite living with Masticatory Muscle Myositis, an immune system disorder that affects her jaw muscles, Coco remains a joyful and athletic companion. This condition means she can’t open her mouth all the way, so she’s on a special home-cooked diet rich in meat and eggs to keep her strength up and takes a daily pill to manage her condition. Coco adores her walks and can be a bit of a puller on the leash if she spots another dog, but she’s always great with people. She’s super athletic and enjoys her time outdoors. Although she can’t play with toys or chew on treats due to her condition, she loves liquid treats and is happy and content in the car. A total sweetheart with a loving demeanor, Coco is also fine being left alone for periods.
