Story
Meet ReedReed was found wandering the streets, thin, hungry, and cold. Despite everything he’s been through, this handsome boy is incredibly social and eager to be near people. He’s smart, attentive, and already knows several commands — sit, paw, and down.Like many Rottweilers, Reed is protective of his belongings. He prefers his food and treats all to himself and doesn’t enjoy being hugged tightly around his belly. With someone familiar with the breed and respectful of his boundaries, Reed will thrive.Reed is loyal, intelligent, and ready for a fresh start. He’d make a wonderful companion for an experienced adopter who understands the Rottie personality and can offer him structure, love, and confidence.

Story
Barkley is a sweet 5 yr old rottie mix. She has been in rescue over 3 years. She needs to find her forever home. She does have a high prey drive, so no cats or small dogs. She has done absolutely fine with older children. She has not been exposed to smaller kids other than walking through the store and did fine. She has been completely vetted and is house and crate trained. She loves her belly rubs and will often wait for you to give her one before coming inside. She has no issues

Story
Meet beautiful Zuna, a girl who has had a run of bad luck but hoping it's turning around! She was originally found as a stray then adopted, then unfortunately surrendered again when her owners moved. Zuna is a sweet and handler oriented girl, who can be jumpy and very eager at times! Zuna is available for rescue partner at ACCT Philly - email lifesaving@acctphilly.org. Behavior Notes: Per Volunteer 2/22/26: She ran to the front of the kennel when I approached and was very wiggly when I dropped treats. As soon as I opened the door and the leash came out, she would back away and dodge it with her head. I tried a few times to leash without being able to because she dodged it. I finally made a loop on the ground and put treats in the middle of it and picked the leash up as she was eating the treats. She ran out of the kennel after being leashed and she definitely pulls quite a bit on leash. She is extremely treat motivated and will jump up at your hand if you’re holding a treat up for her. She did show me that she knows sit and patiently waited for her Treat after. She is a little snatchy with it from your hand, but no issues with feeding her from my hand. She is a little pushy with handling so I would stop petting her and she would lean up against me and push her head under my hand so I would keep petting her. When she saw other dogs through the fence, she had a wagging nub of a tail with interested body and alert ears. She liked sitting right between my legs and seemed pretty alert when doing so, not sure if she was protecting me but was attached to my hip! Had a few nice dog meets through the fence. No issues walking through kennels or back into hers, just strong on leash. Per Staff 2/18/2026: Surgery attempted to get out to bring her back to be spayed. The tech could not leash her up and asked if I could help. When I presented the leash she would back up, bouncing back and forth. When the leash was not presented she would come up and allowed me to pet under her chin/chest area. Instead of leashing with the slip, I was able to clip the leash to her collar. She pulled hard on the leash, zig zagging through the kennel. Her nose was to the ground, seemed to be searching for food. In Surgery the doctor was able to listen to her, however when we went to give the injection she turned and snapped at the vet. We decided to place a muzzle on her. She still attempted to snap/bite with muzzle on and after when I was trying to remove the muzzle. Per volunteer 5/20/25: She was shy at first and didnt wwant to come out so I sat in her kennel and held out my hand with treats in them, she came up to me and licked my hand and took the treats one after the ofher so then I held up the leash infront of my hand and she put her head through the leash to take the treat and out we went very easily. Once the leash was on her she was very comfortable and happy to be outside for the first time since she's been at acct . She's def a gentle giant . If you are on grass she likes to sniff a lot and just walk around wherever her nose takes her and if we switched to pavement she'd stop sniffing and go for slow jogs ( about a 12 min mile pace) .she's gets tired quickly so she only jogs for about 1 min and then walks for 2 and then jogs for 1 minute again , and then walks for 2 , but she's.very happy when she breaks out for that 1 min run . When we stopped and rested she took treats very easily and allowed me to give her rubs all over. When we came back in she hopped right in with no issue . I'd expect she'll come straight out tomorrow. Per staff 5/15/25: She did well for her intake. She is very food motivated so we put hotdogs pieces all over the floor and was able to fully check her in without any issues. Per staff 5/15/25: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Mel B was at the front of her kennel with a wagging nub and soft eyes. As soon as she saw the leash she backed all the way up and started baring teeth, growling and hard barking. I was able to toss some treats and reach in but she dodged the leash again. I decided to open the kennel half way, make her sit for a treat and quickly loop her. Once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls very strong HANDLING : In the room, Mel B was showing all the puppy behaviors. She can be a bit wild and jumpy but was still somehow gentle and cuddly. She allowed all handling and was loose and wiggly. She takes treats very snatchy even with an open pal so toss treats. She likes anything and will eat everything. She knows sit and down and wiggled her entire body trying to contain her excitement. She was super goofy and playful and a treat to be around. She is a very good girl and an overall super gentle but great girl . PLAY: Engages in play TOYS: Loves squeaky toys – can be picky with her selection Medical: 2/17/2026: Patient was BAR and friendly, overall cooperative until after DHPP was administered. Patient barked, growled and flail and was muzzled alongside a towel covering her vision. The rest of the vaccinations went well. Story
Meet handsome Zeus. He came in with her housemate Bolckka when their owner became too ill to care for them. We can tell you these 2 incredible dogs were absolutely loved and having to rehome them wasn’t an easy decision. The love shows in their personalities. Zeus is a very sweet affectionate dog but does play rough. He loves snuggles and belly rubs so much sometimes its hard to keep him upright when petting him. We know he reportedly got along well with Blockka. Reuniting this pair at the shelter has been unsuccessful so therefore they will be adopted out separately and Zeus will need to be an only dog. Zeus walks nicely on leash and is eager to please, he is crate trained and well-mannered in the home He does take treats a bit rough and has guarding tendencies with his food bowl so we will not be adopting him out to a home with kids and recommend feeding in his crate.
