Story

Liesel is a beautiful 1 year old girl found stray in Philly and taken to the city shelter. Liesel loves everyone she meets and is very affectionate. She especially enjoys playing tug and loves using her nose on walks. Her very favorite toy is her Jolly ball. She is truly a sweetheart who charms whose ever path she crosses. Liesel is very expressive through her body language. The only issue we saw was she seemed to have never been exposed to other dogs in her short life before rescue. She is such a precious girl, we decided she needed to be introduced to the joy of other dogs through professionals. When we attempted to introduce her, she’d become over aroused and excited. She showed absolutely no aggression, just super excited. We didn’t want to chance not doing it correctly and she needed exposure to a lot of other dogs. Liesel has completed a Board and Train program and did great. She progressed through pack walks, passing by other dogs, and participating in ‘social hour’ with other dogs there. She really did so well because she’s such a pleaser. Her approved applicant will need to participate in a couple of sessions with her trainer so that the cues and techniques used will be consistent once adopted. While there, she also learned foundational skills so she will be the total package! The photos here are from her training experience. Story

Vader is between 1 to 2 years old and was found stray in Philly. He waited patiently for his owner but no one showed up. While waiting at the shelter, volunteers and vet staff commented that he was a very sweet dog. After his stray hold, off he came to Kodi's Club! Vader enjoys his humans and is overall a cooperative boy. Vader does not automatically bond with his human. There is a hint of a very strict prior life that looks like a weary affect when approached. Patience, space, and an environment that promotes a sense of security and safety are the tools to bring out the real Vader. He was a shell of a boy for a good while, at first. Head down, eyes peering up cautiously as if he must have done something wrong but couldn't figure out what. It was heartbreaking to watch this young, gentle, stunning dog in this mental space. Building confidence can't be rushed, but patience paid off along with never making him feel pressured. He has been a great companion for several of our other dogs, but his first love is playing with all types of balls. Second is taking in all the fabulous scents left in the yard. He arrived both house and crate trained. Vader has a lot of energy but has an off button as well. He is also highly receptive to directions and looks for guidance from his human when unsure. Vader hasn't had much Obedience work beyond basic commands so needs some leash work, as he will pull toward tempting scents of interest and has the strength to pull his handler. On leash walks, he has pretty much not shown interest in other dogs. Free to play in a group at the shelter, he also didn't present as interested in other dogs, but more so in scents in the yard. Vader will require a physically fenced yard. Learning not to jump up as part of his repertoire with new people is on his To Do list. Vader takes treats gently and is very appreciative! Because he's a young boy and needs to be taught to control his excitement, he will require an experienced owner who is also willing to schedule training sessions to fine tune his manners. Imagine being 3 year old Lola. Surrendered to Animal Control by the only home she ever knew. Sitting in a shelter wondering what all the noise is and the multitude of smells. Looking down the aisle hoping her owner would be coming back for her. But no one came for her. A sweeter than sweet ACCT Philly girl, she came to us after her stray hold, but unfortunately was diagnosed with pneumonia and hospitalized for 5 days. Once discharged, she came to 'Chez Gordon B&B' to recuperate until moving on to her actual foster. The silver lining? While waiting for her forever home, she couldn't get a better level of care in her amazing foster home. And she is taking full advantage of the delicious attention! But Lola is ready to search for her very own home! Lola is crate and house trained and a major foodie! She has great house manners. Her energy level is a lovely mix of excitement and calm/chill. She is somewhat of a princess as she loves to cuddle in her foster mom's bed. Her foster mom shared "Her face is too much to handle! Gracie is a 2 year old love! Gracie ADORES humans, both known or strangers. She is definitely a cuddler who misses belly rubs, relaxing on a sofa, and the companionship of her very own family to fulfill her energetic personality. Gracie is in boarding while she waits. She even loves the vet and did great for her check up, even pleasantly allowing a blood draw. (the secret is the distraction of cheese whiz lol). Gracie needs slow introductions to other dogs and prefers dogs on the quieter side of socializing. She would be perfectly satisfied to be an only dog because of her love of people. Gracie shows her love enthusiastically so children in the home should be over 10 and comfortable with big dogs. We do not know how she would be with cats. She keeps her kennel immaculate so we are pretty sure she is house and crate trained. Our petite Skylar is a charming upbeat 2 year old girl who is both adventurous and chill. She has a natural curiosity about exploring her environment, but is also quite content just relaxing with a toy. She loves attention and to be petted, but also doesn't hound her human for it. Basically, Skylar is very friendly and energetic, loves giving kisses, and getting belly rubs. Skylar was first impounded at the shelter last year but reclaimed by her owner. Fast forward a year and she was again found as a stray, but loaded with fleas, with pervasive hair loss and bloody scabby skin over her whole back and rump. It was painful to watch this little peanut get around with that level of discomfort. Skylar is quite resilient, fully healed, and ready to roll! Skylar is house and crate trained. Cats are unknown. Lars is a handsome 2 years old, 76 lb. Terrier/Boxer mix brindle with white paws and bib around his neck. He's a big goofy people person and a love bug. He loves to play, chew bones and give big sloppy kisses. He is crate trained and appears to be good with other dogs and cats and school aged children. He does jump sometimes so probably not a good choice for a family with small children. Lars is neutered and has all of his vaccines. He is being rehomed due to his owner's change in employment and just not being home very much to give him the loving home that he deserves.
