This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. I'll perform all sorts of acrobats, even jumping in the air and twisting in every direction to catch a ball! I'm even learning to bring the balls back! I love car (or truck) rides. And I never met a trail that I did not want to explore. I meet everyone at my kennel with either a toy in my mouth or my food bowl. I am so happy to show them off to everyone. I have a full body wiggle when my favorite people are coming to get me out for a walk. I like other dogs with proper introductions. When I find a dog I like, I'll run & play until we're both dizzy with exhaustion. I'm a true "ladies man and would thrive in a home with another delightful female companion. I can be a bit shy at first, but then turn on that southern charm. I need an experienced owner and I need to be introduced to strangers slowly. But once I trust, I will enjoy cuddling in your lap. If you are willing and able to put the time into training me I will be sure to do my best to learn. Like most Rotties, I form strong bonds with those I love. I'm what they call a "diamond-in-the-ruff who will make a great life-long companion. I have been waiting a long time for my forever home. Loving, loyal, full of life. Come meet me!

Dozer may be a little guy for a Rottweiler at just 60 pounds, but his heart is absolutely enormous. At 4 years old, he's the definition of a gentle giant in a compact package. Calm, affectionate, and incredibly easygoing, Dozer has never met a stranger and wins over everyone he meets with his sweet personality. Dozer gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and even chickens. He's house trained, crate trained, loves going for walks, enjoys playing with other dogs, and is always up for a toy. His favorite hobby? Quietly stealing your shoes and carrying them around like prized possessions. He would absolutely love a home with another dog his size to romp, wrestle, and play with. Dozer is a special needs dog. We believe he has Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (NAD), a rare inherited neurological condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. At this time, his only symptom is an adorable, clumsy "drunken sailor" walk that doesn't slow him down one bit. Because NAD is progressive and has no cure, Dozer is looking for a family that understands special needs dogs and is committed to loving him through whatever the future may hold. Right now, he's happy, playful, and enjoying every day to the fullest. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion with a heart of gold and don't mind the occasional missing shoe, Dozer just might be your perfect match. Dozer's adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter, age appropriate vaccines, parasite prevention, and microchip.

If you are looking for a young, frisky pup who loves to play, Roady would be your new best friend. He could be part boxer or boxweiler with his furrowed brow but leans in like a lab, part heeler perhaps? Whatever the mix, Roady does love the car, travels politely, and would thrive with a daily dog park visit. He has a lot of stamina, runs fast, and enjoys chasing balls. He might do really well with agility training. Roady loves his meals and is working on "sit" to wait for them. He is a bit shy on occasion and it will take time for "come" to be second nature. Roady can get distracted outside as all his senses seem to be on alert. He has especially keen hearing and long distance vision, but does not bark often. He is a gentleman in the house as he is totally housebroken! Roady is still young and learning, loving a chew toy of any kind, especially plastic, so he will need heavy monitoring in a new environment for a bit. He takes calm and firm verbal correction well and is learning "off" and "leave it" commands. Having said that, Roady crates easily and enjoys being in and out of bed during the day on his own. He has done well being confined when adults are out for a couple of hours. Roady gets along well with other medium-sized dogs and follows after his foster brother on walks and visits in the yard. He is a great follower and would love another dog or playmate at home. He does very well on leash. If you are looking for a manageable optimistic, playful dog who can content himself without fuss, Roady will make a wonderful companion for the lucky family that chooses him.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN.
